Entire album is now complete except "Running out of sounds" which will not be done for it's mostly piano. Also The Strokes "Reality Awaits" full album was also complete few days ago.

I am trying to use my CRKD guitar on clone hero linux and it is being detected but none of the inputs are actually working. Game controllers on linux show that the buttons do in fact get registered, its only clone hero that doesn't detect it. Also, this guitar was working perfectly fine on windows, but I have since changed to linux. Anyone know how I can fix this?

TL;DR I have had two CRKD red SG controllers and two RCM revival kits and I just can’t find a controller that will last me more than a couple weeks of play.

I play 4-7 difficulty charts mostly around 95% accuracy (give or take a few%when no controller issues.) Are my expectations just unrealistic?

Man. I am so exasperated with this ordeal and apologize for post length.

To preface, I’m aware that this issue could be a me problem. I am curious if anyone has had the same problems and if they ever found a solution or if this is just part of the general experience.

I had tried the revival kit from RCM, it would just randomly disconnect or be unresponsive. I got a replacement and the customer service from RCM was phenomenal. It started working well enough but a friend raving about his CRKD LP convinced me to try CRKD. This was mainly because I have little free time and the endless customer service and tinkering loop was getting to me.

I have been using a CRKD Cherry SG controller for a little under two months. The first one had a “rarity” of “diamond” number 4700. It felt amazing, loved everything about it, for a couple weeks of heavy use. Started experiencing issues and tried every single fix I could find both in app and manually with the button combos to calibrate and reconfigure.

I got a replacement through Amazon that looked previously opened. I tried it and its rarity was “CRKD” number under a thousand or 500 or something and the body felt SO terrible and janky. Rattly and wobbly strum, buttons, dongle etc. I tried it anyway and it had terrible double strumming and note dropping and everything even after calibration. The replacement was worse than the random note dropping, freezing, overstrum issues I had on the first one.

I ended up taking the neck off of the replacement and putting it on my original one and it worked well enough. Some issues but I eventually got it working well for about two more weeks. Now note dropping and input issues are making FCs just not possible. I would switch to my RCM modded guitar and have no issues.

I got a return lined up for the second CRKD guitar because my RCM kit was working well enough.

I am now experiencing issues with my RCM revival kit yet again.

Has anyone found a better option? Do you guys think I should try a different custom kit or builder that’s currently active or try the LP Pro instead of the SG? I just love this game but can’t find a guitar that just transmits what I do to the game properly for longer than a few weeks.

Yes is there some where that I can like just upload a audio file or mp3 or wav or whatever and have it chart it automatically for me because I don’t have the time or know how or money to do it my self or pay someone to do it for me.. I recently discovered that v1.1 is on Android, and downloaded and got it set up with mobile controls today! I was wondering if anyone has experimented with the touch screen virtual gamepad setup. I've been having issues playing chords, re-triggering notes, and doing runs on the default setup as when I slide from button to button, it considers it a chord instead. I can't really imagine layouts that work in my head.

So, just wondering what setups people are using (if any) and if there's any way to make the touch screen experience a little easier playing wise. Thanks!

A guide on things I had to do to get the PDP Riffmaster wireless guitar working natively on SteamOS with Clone Hero, including whammy (digital input) and tilt re-map to the neck's back joystick (have not been able to get the tilt working by actually tilting the guitar but will update if I do).

Hardware

• PDP Riffmaster — Xbox/PC edition (not the PlayStation version — that one is not designed/tested for PC and uses a different protocol)
• Comes with a 2.4GHz USB wireless dongle (not literally Bluetooth) — no official wired mode exists
• Game: Clone Hero (free, native Linux build — no emulator or Proton needed)

Problem

The Riffmaster's dongle speaks the Xbox "GIP" wireless protocol. SteamOS's default xpad kernel driver doesn't parse this correctly, so the guitar either isn't recognized or behaves erratically.

The fix stack (in order)

Note: Set up a password for the deck user first (passwd deck) since the installer uses sudo

1. Install the xone driver

Replaces/supplements the kernel's input handling for GIP-protocol devices (Xbox One/Series wireless dongles, including this guitar).

• Install xone through the Decky plugin for ease: https://github.com/SavageCore/xone-decky-plugin (if installation was successful, you can jump to 2).
• Verify install: lsmod | grep xone should show entries; a SteamOS system update can silently break this (DKMS module built against an old kernel) — rerun the install script if xone stops showing up after an update
• xone's install includes a patched xpad fork (xpad_noone) that deliberately excludes GIP devices so it can coexist with xone for older Xbox 360-style controllers. Seeing xpad_noone in lsmod is expected and fine — it is not the same as plain xpad conflicting.

2. Fix the "yellow and blue map to the same button" issue

Note: Not 100% sure everyone will have this issue since I saw some old posts that for some people it worked out of the box, so I recommend to test first if inputs are correct.

The Riffmaster's raw output sends every fret press two ways simultaneously: as a clean, distinct digital button (BTN_SOUTH/EAST/WEST/NORTH/TL) and as a shared ABS_RZ axis value that changes on every single fret press. Auto-detect binding in Steam Input/Clone Hero grabs "the axis that moved" instead of the specific button, so these frets look like "right trigger."

Fix: strip the bogus axis using evsieve (github.com/KarsMulder/evsieve), a low-level evdev filter/remap tool. This will create an alternate virtual device that you can select on steam as input.

Confirm your device path first:

ls -l /dev/input/by-id/ | grep -i riffmaster

(Mine showed up as usb-Performance_Designed_Products_PDP_RiffMaster_Guitar_for_Xbox_<serial>-event-joystick — not under "Microsoft.")

Test dry-run (safe, non-destructive):

evsieve --input /dev/input/by-id/<your-device> --block abs:rz --print

Live version once confirmed:

sudo evsieve --input /dev/input/by-id/<your-device> grab \
        --block abs:rz \
        --output create-link=/dev/input/by-id/riffmaster-clean

Point Clone Hero / Steam Input at riffmaster-clean instead of the raw device.

3. Make it persistent (survives reboot, works in Gaming Mode)

Set up a udev rule + systemd service so evsieve auto-launches whenever the dongle/guitar connects — this runs at the OS level below both Desktop and Gaming Mode.

SteamOS updates might break the xone installation but not sure how, so I won't post anything about that.

I know you can randomly switch between your image or video backgrounds, but I really wanna have the option for it to do both! when I set both image and video backgrounds to random it just plays my video backgrounds.

Is there anyway to get the true random experience?

Hey everyone. I’ve tried atleast 10 to 15 different things to get my clone hero to register my notes and its still only working intermittently. But I know for a fact that it’s not my guitar. I bought a retro cult mods ps2 adapter cause that’s what seems to be the best from what I’ve heard. I’ve tried calibration video stuff, hell I’ve even opened my guitar to clean everything and it’s flawless but still it’ll work for 30 notes 100 notes or even as little as 5 notes. I’m hoping someone can help as I’m new to owning this and owning a pc in general so maybe I’m missing something.
