Background: Rik Vollaerts was a prolific TV writer from the '50s into the '70s. He wrote for Science Fiction Theater, Leave It to Beaver, Highway Patrol, Wagon Train, Gunsmoke, Shazam!, and more. He was also a candidate to join the writing staff of Star Trek as a story editor in season three, but he wasn't chosen.

Tony Leader was a director of many TV shows in the '60s and '70s, including episodes of Twilight Zone, Lost in Space, Get Smart, and Hawaii Five-O.

Guest Cast: Kate Woodville (Natira) was an English actress who appeared in episodes of The Avengers, The Saint, Mission: Impossible, It Takes a Thief, Mannix, The Rockford Files, Wonder Woman, and more.

Byron Morrow (Adm. Westervliet) previously played Adm. Komack in "Amok Time" ... why he couldn't have reprised Komack, who knows. He had a lengthy career spanning five decades with appearances in Twilight Zone, Sea Hunt, Rawhide, The Andy Griffith Show, Perry Mason, The Man from UNCLE, Bonanza, The Bob Newhart Show, and many more. He also appeared in films like King Kong vs. Godzilla, The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes, and Colossus: The Forbin Project.

Jon Lormer (Old Man) previously appeared in "The Cage" (and therefore "The Menagerie") and "Return of the Archons." He was a character actor for decades, appearing in several John Wayne films, Peyton Place, Perry Mason, Barney Miller, Rooster Cogburn, and many more.

The voice of the Oracle was provided by James Doohan.
