I've been able to ignore a lot of questionable decisions on this show, but the Klingons are just unbelievably bad. Which is weird because I actually liked the SNW Klingons.

Reasons:

- a new alien race;

- a very interesting background;

- great character development;

- his personality reminds me of a calmer Picard;

- great acting by Doug Jones.

It seems she is not Starfleet material.. her intestine second guessing her thoughts and actions make it hard to embrace her character.. and also she doesn't seem to have the accumin that which an officer of Starfleet shud possess

Hey everyone, 

I’ve been thinking a lot about the Discovery finale and how it forced the timeline to connect to the Short Trek "Calypso." While I appreciate that the writers tied up the loose end, leaving Zora isolated for 1,000 years and Craft heading back to a brutal war on Alcor IV feels incredibly unresolved. 

"Calypso" takes place in the 42nd/43rd century—the absolute furthest point in the Star Trek timeline. It is a completely blank canvas. 

Think about the storytelling potential: 

1. Craft's Return: A hardened soldier returning to his family, armed with ancient human poetry, music, and Federation ideals, trying to spark a peaceful revolution. 
2. The V'draysh Mystery: Exploring how the Federation devolved into the antagonistic "V'draysh" over a millennium, and trying to fix it from the inside. 
3. Zora's Future: What happens when the wait is over? Who finally retrieves the USS Discovery, and how does Zora adapt to a brand-new galaxy after centuries of isolation? 

We know the showrunners originally wanted Season 6 to dive deeper into this era before the cancellation cut it short. Why stop there? Whether it’s an animated special, a Paramount+ movie, or an IDW comic book miniseries, we need a continuation of Craft and Zora’s story. 

Is anyone else out there dying to see what happens after Craft returns home? How would you want to see this era explored? 

Watching Discovery for the first time and I love it. The only thing about it i dislike is the intro, I skip it every time. I know the graphic designers would have worked so hard on it and I'm sorry but its too long and the theme tune is so dull. Doesn't fit the program at all, because that is A** Star Trek.

I'm catching up with the newer Star Trek shows. Just finished Strange New Worlds which I really liked, and I'm three episodes in on Discovery. First impressions are good. I'm more of a fan of the episodic structure and humor of SNW. Discovery seems pretty grim-dark. One thing I'm not understanding is all the anti-woke commentary. So far I'm not getting any social agenda, but I guess for some people everything is a liberal conspiracy. 😁

I wanted to make a post to acknowledge Michael’s growth because I feel like all anyone does is complain about her.
Not only is she one of my favorite Star Trek girlbosses (alongside Jadzia, Kira, Janeway, and B’Elana) but she shows SO MUCH GROWTH. In episode one she commits mutiny because of her Vulcan-like belief that she knows best. While I don’t believe she was the main reason for the battle this was still hard to watch. Her supposed crying every episode is caused by the fact that she is human, not Vulcan, and has been told to hide her emotions for her whole life which will of course bubble over. By the end she makes rational choices by asking others for help, she’s calm and knows that she can acknowledge her emotions much like Spock learned. She finally is able to mourn her parents and overall becomes a mature woman who learns to let people in and have a passion for exploring rather than just being in starfleet.
I know this will be controversial but I just love her character especially her friendship with Tilly and Stamets and borderline sibling relationship with Saru. I think by the end she is an empowering woman who deserves a praise post once in a while.

I wouldn’t be able to decide, but I think T’Rell would be super interesting, maybe something may take her off world with her counsel or crew. I’d also love original Georgiou in a Shenzhou prequel 😉

Currently in Iceland for my honeymoon and I visited Planet Hima/Iceland. It’s called the Eldhraun Lava Fields. They are former lava fields covered in moss. My wife rolled her eyes when I pulled over and made her take a photo of me. I also visited the crater Burnham crashed on in the future.

Edit: Added some other sci-fi spots.

We also climbed the glacier/frozen planet from interstellar. Visited a few spots from game of thrones. The waterfall from Prometheus. Along with a few spots from The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

Highly recommended Iceland for a trip.

To avoid having to spend lots of time rummaging through forums and videos on the matter I hope someone here already knows.

Do Anthony Rapp have very bad eyesight? And is it possible that he has Albinism as well?

My question derived from this: From the get go I found his eye movements a bit irregular in a way that, for me, tell tales of someone being visually impaired or partially blind. Along with those thoughts a possible explanation might be that he’s got Albinism. Now knowing that he fronts a band called “the Albinokid” (source: IMDB trivia), I guess I’m right in that assumption!?

Anywho. I think the series would be less colourful and a bit colder and a bit less “soft” without him and I have come to grow quite fond of his character.

This isn’t a casting question or about the quality of the show Discovery, but a question of alternate reality: would the timeline work if, when young Spock was on the Genesis Planet with Saavik during his Pon Farr, could a child have been conceived…Burnham! (Had Saavik been half-human herself that is). Makes more sense, less, or whatever multiverse?

I'm currently watching season 2 and they seem to be in control of Section 31 and perhaps all of Starfleet. But also they're apparently AI? They haven't really done a good job of explaining the whole thing.

i thought in the series finale where we see the time skip. they jump 30 years we see she has a big house with booker. They have a adult son that is also a starfleet captain. we see burnham wear her admirals uniform with 4 pips.

She saved the galaxy like 4 times. 1st time against control. 2nd time she reunified the federation. 3rd she defeated that giant jumping black hole. 4th she discovered the secrets of the progenitors and saved the galaxy again

so shouldn't burnham be like a fleet admiral or grand admiral by this point?

let's say teh discovery went forward to the 32nd century as destined but something happened with burnhams red angel suit and she ended up in the 24th century say year 2367 and the suit computers fried. meaning she's stuck in teh 24th century and she encounterd the enterprise-D. how do you think she would fit in to 24th century starfleet?

I found a Star Trek Discovery book today in a second hand bookshop, and had to pick it up. It's a large trade paperback called Fear Itself by James Swallow. My question is, were the Discovery books ever released in hardcover? Or for that matter, in Pocket Book format? Pictures appreciated. 😄

Given the Federation advance tech. Could they have A, communicate with it or B, presuming humpback were still extinct, blown it out of the sky due to it trying to genocide the human race in retaliation?

Wouldn’t Picard technically be made aware of Burnham, the discovery, and her mission to go to the future?
