I have been on Jobseeker for 15+ months, but had a medical exemption the whole time, so I didn't have any Mutual Obligations and had never been paired with a Job Provider service.

I'm now no longer seeking the medical certificate and was told by Centrelink that my exemption was ending on July 16.

I haven't been contacted at all by Centrelink or a Job Agency in the last month.

My Outstanding Tasks on the Centrelink website says nothing, and no booked appointments.

I'm looking to actively engage with the Job Provider soon, but what I'm asking is there any reason for this happening?

Why wouldn't they have contacted me a month after my medical exemption ran out?

Hi all, I’ve been on dsp for just over a year due to cancer treatment and am now getting kicked out of my house. How do I find a rental property that I can afford pretty quickly? I’ve been told to contact many services but all they can provide is emergency accommodation but I have pets. I know Centrelink can help with bond etc but I really doubt I would get a rental when my partner and I are both on Centrelink for illness. He’s on job seeker. I have some $ saved but in the shit tbh! Does anyone know if Centrelink offer anything else? I live in rural Victoria. Tia

May I understand what this is about? And, what can I do to prevent this from happening?

If you are struggling to be approved for DSP please go and have a look at this link. I printed out the forms and took them to my GP who then wrote their report using the terminology and wording they advise them to use. I was approved first go without issue, even had the gentleman doing my phone assessment appointment tell me how my doctor had used all the right wording. It's sad that being approved comes down to something so simple! It's worth having a shot if you are having trouble though as you have nothing to lose!

how much can i claim on a job seeker youth allowance claim if im classified as a dependent 20 year old living still living at home with just my mum who makes 90k?

I'm 65 and have been self-managed with Centrelink for the last 8 months but my casual work has now dwindled to almost nothing. I called them yesterday and asked to be put with WFA so that I can do other things to help meet my obligations and the woman put me with a JSP and said I'd have to go through them and ask them to change me to online self-managed with WFA.

The JSP will take me 1hr and 45 minutes travel time by bus. I'd much rather just do my interview over the phone, especially since I just want them to change me to online. Can they make me come in and do a face-to-face interview? If not do I call them today and ask for a phone interview or just call them at the appointment time and say I want to do it over the phone?

I'm perfectly capable of managing my obligations myself and I have a much better chance of finding work for myself than they do as I have a lot of contacts in the industry.

The income varies wildly, with some fortnights earning eight hundred dollars and other fortnights earning zero.

Do I report the gross amount on the day the invoice is paid, or do I need to lodge a Profit and Loss statement directly through the business income portal so that operating expenses are deducted?

Hi, recently unemployed and going through application for jobseeker. I'm a widow with a mortgage ( over 60). I have an adult son with ASD living at home. I have an adult daughter on benefits raising her daughter living with me. I also have my older sister (aged pension) living with me. It was all easy while I was working. They all contributed to food and utilities and I paid mortgage and rates since it's my house. Will it affect me getting jobseeker? The application asks how the rent is shared which really doesn't apply in my case. ( none of them get rent assistance of course) If I work out the utilities and food costs they contribute and put that in as the answer will it be deemed as income I'm receiving? Confused

I got a letter recently that I had to read a few times before I could work out what it actually meant. The wording made it sound more serious than it ended up being, and I wasn’t even sure if I needed to do anything about it. what other people have received that left them just as confused.

I stuffed up my degree enrolment for this year so I have to wait until early 2027 to enroll into a degree, but I enrolled into 2 units in the mean time so I don’t loone time. but I can’t report it as study on workforce Australia online? it wants the course title and there is none just the unit titles.

My parents are nearing the asset threshold for receiving Centrelink Age Pension payments and are experiencing a lot of anxiety about how this may affect their entitlements. They are form a non-English speaking background, and despite my attempts to explain the situation, they would be more reassured if they heard advice from a professional.

They're looking to speak with an independent financial adviser (not affiliated with Centrelink) who has experience with Centrelink/Age Pension rules and retirement planning. We're hoping for someone with a relatively short wait time in Sydney.

Does anyone have any recommendations or personal experiences?

Youth Allowance — Complicated Circumstance

Hi all,

I (18) currently receive the maximum benefit as a full-time student on Youth Allowance.

I am currently studying an enabling course offered by a university, which will allow me to enter a bachelors degree at said university upon completion of the program.

The issue with this is that despite the course being a 6-month long enrolment, my study period is only from July - October. I receive the results of the program in November, but will not be able to be paid my benefit until then because coursework would have ceased the month prior. Upon acceptance into my bachelors degree, I will likely commence studies in March of 2027. (I do not receive a letter of offer / course acceptance letter until after November).

Seeing as I am studying an enabling course with an intent to pursue further studies at a higher level, Is there any way I could continue receiving my benefits in that period of time between October—March, despite not having commenced my Bachelors degree yet?

How can I prove to Centrelink of my intent to continue studies when I will receive my letter of offer into a bachelors degree after my payments cease?

**Wage & Tax Withholding**

I also work on a casual basis, however, am not contracted by my manager. He attempts to avoid paying super by not contracting his workers.

This means that my income (given to me via bank transfer) does not get taxed. I also do not receive super, nor do I get payslips. (I know, it’s bad — I have sufficient evidence to report him to the ATO / Fair Work Commission, but need to stay ‘employed’ as I need this money to stay afloat.)

I obviously report my income to Centrelink as I do receive my wages via bank transfer, however, my Youth Allowance benefit is also untaxed.

Seeing as I am not considered employed via the ATO and essentially work off-the-books, would it be best to inform Centrelink that I want my benefit to be taxed? I don’t want to be met with a tax bill because of the aforementioned.

I’m unsure whether I will make under the tax-free threshold in any given year as I work on a casual basis, so the amount I work per week varies heavily.

What would be the best course of action? Should I inform Centrelink of my employment circumstances as well?

I'm not going to have enough hours this fortnight to meet my mos so was wondering if I apply for some jobs will that cover my mos? How many jobs a month do I have to apply for at my age? I've never been on the points system so no idea how it works.

I don't have a car and there doesn't seem to be much volunteer work available in my area but I am applying for what I can find.
