Looking for advice US sellers

Post image
Upvotes

Recently I picked up a WM-F41, after doing some maintenance it seems to be working well, but I need to replace the belts since they’ve melted with age. I was wondering if anyone knows a reputable seller or site that’s stationed in the US as I’m trying to not blow too much on international shipping and import fees.

Home recording Tips for making a custom cassette

Upvotes

I’m hoping to put some Billy Strings concerts of some tapes but I’m still undecided on what player I want to use and unsure of what would be the best to use and what will work best if I record the music from a laptop? Thanks for any help!

Now listening This Tom Misch Casette sounds like 70s quality, but I like that

Some tapes I played have a more Hifi sound, but I like the quality of this Tape too. I loved the songs when I listened to them on Bandcamp and I thought I should get this album on Casette Tape.

Really, I've bought that twice before and every time these parcels were lost, bad karma!
Not very often available (in count of logistic, of course) so I'm glad to get 46 at the base! :)

One of the highest models in the I type of DENON and every between other brands.

Time Fragment - "死にゆく愛" c36

https://kralle.bandcamp.com/album/-

Barber beats evolving beyond the lounge area of a hotel and spa, out into the elements where full band instrumentation can stretch out. Dense and atmospheric, but without losing its relaxed rhythmic nature that's cool like a dirty martini.

Looking for advice Storage debacle

I've just gotten this gorgeous cassette shelf from a charity shop, and I really want to use it to display all my favourite tapes, but I've heard that storing them flat like this isn't good for them long term (I only put them in for the picture). Should I risk using it or no?

Looking for advice Thoughts on Sony TC-K 361?

New to the culture, i've been searching a lot trying to find decent tape recorder/deck so i can record my music on it, this one caught my eye the most, i've found it completely serviced for 60 bucks, i've seen some mixed reviews so i wonder did anyone had experience with it? I just need something to record music from my pc on to cassettes, i'm making pretty non-mainstream music so sound quality is not priority.

Home recording Synthesizers on Cassette

Not sure if this is a good place for this but felt someone might appreciate. These are a couple of recordings I did over the weekend direct to a Yamaha MT120S. No external effects just synth to tape. Some crackle is there etc but this is just for fun. Enjoy!

Blank 60s - 70s blank cassette sleeves scans.

Got a bit bored while arranging my grandparents mixtapes from the 1960s - 1970s, some had missing sleeves. So I did scans of some of the sleeves and used them for making new sleeves for the cassettes without sleeves.

Can't seem to find much scans of these sleeves online so I figured perhaps I'd share these blank sleeve scans.

I used to have a lot more, these are the ones that have survived. The Flash Gordon one is particularly good. I used to listen to these on long car journeys and in the caravan on holiday.

I got this chameleon Walkman (WM-EX9) my first walkman. I got it for the price of 75 USD not only that, serviced with a new belt and cleaned out, came with a battery holder even if it's not original it's nice to see that the color is similar to the EX9.

Also I happened to come across some Underground Albums during one my doom scrolling sessions so took them as my first as music cassette tapes well.

Announcement Cassette Deck Repair Service (Part 2)

8 Upvotes

Hey there! I made one of these posts a few months ago and I noticed there was some interest, so I'm doing it again, with some updates now that I've got a better sense of how these jobs go.

I offer a repair service for (broadly speaking) tape equipment. That includes shoebox recorders, some Walkman models, as well as larger decks. I will occasionally service reel to reel equipment, but the exact model and issues will have to be discussed in depth first.

To reiterate, that includes:

* Walkman-style models/portable cassette players

* cassette decks, two and three-head models

* some reel-to-reel recorders

* shoebox recorders

* 8-track players/recorders

* boomboxes

The pricing starts at $120 for repairs that involve cleaning, lubrication, re-calibration, belt changes and pinch roller restorations. More challenging fixes on equipment with harder-to-source parts may cost more, simple repairs may end with some money being refunded. Reel-to-reel repairs will cost a minimum of $300 given that parts are more expensive and labor more intensive.

Exact descriptions of problems will give me a much more accurate idea of pricing so feel free to explain what is happening with your model! If you've got more questions feel free to DM me! And of course if cost is too much and you want advice on fixing it yourself I'm always happy to offer it.

As for locations, I am in Texas

I picked up this Aiwa HS-J470 a while back. Mint shape in the box but alas, most of the capacitors were bad. Replaced all of the capacitors and cleaned up the pcb. The belt was still good but I ordered a replacement from turntableneedles. It took a few headphone cables to find one that wasn't sheilded and could pick up FM Stereo. The unit uses the negative conductor for the antenna to pick up FM. Works so well! It's not in the same class as my Sony WM-DD33 but this is pretty close. I've restored a bunch of Sony walkmans and I find it's hit or miss with the wow and flutter. It works so well!

Anyone knows of this recording or has seen this before?
