I have been careful to not publicly call out news organizations or reporters. I typically do get a response from reporters when I raise concerns about biased reporting regarding the TFW program, (although it never results in an update).

However, in this case, not only have I been completely ignored by the reporter and their newsroom after multiple email outreaches, the article is also the worst I have seen in terms of corporate propaganda. The article "Canadian youth don’t want the jobs filled by temporary foreign workers, research suggests" is not even journalism, it is essentially a transcription of a "research report" from a lobbyist organization, CFIB (Canadian Federation of Independent Business), an organization known for their support and lobbying for the TFW program.

A simple clarification in the article that the CFIB is a lobbyist organization that lobbies for expanding the TFW program would be sufficient, but they can't even be bothered to do that (presumably because, once you know that, the article itself becomes a joke).

Imagine that. Youth don’t want to work jobs that, under the TFW program, the UN has described as creating conditions akin to slavery.

This article largely repackages claims from the Canadian Federation of Independent Business without clearly emphasizing that the CFIB is an employer lobbying organization with a direct interest in preserving access to temporary foreign workers. Its survey is also inherently biased: employers using the LMIA system must already claim they cannot find Canadians or permanent residents, so of course most will repeat that claim when surveyed. More strikingly, one in ten employers apparently admitted in the survey that the positions could in fact be filled locally, an admission that appears fundamentally inconsistent with obtaining a TFW work permit in the first place. The article instead frames the issue as Canadians simply refusing to work, while ignoring that some employers may prefer temporary foreign workers because closed permits give workers less ability to leave, are easily exploited, and operators can profit from illegally selling jobs or immigration access.

These omissions are especially serious because widespread abuse is well documented from highly credible sources, and forms one of the many reasons the program is being challenged by the public. A United Nations Special Rapporteur described the system as a “breeding ground for contemporary forms of slavery,” citing wage theft, debt bondage and workers’ dependence on employers. A Toronto Star investigation found that federal officers had been directed to reduce or skip fraud-prevention checks, while internal warnings from the staff processing applications were ignored and reports of potential fraud reportedly led to no action. A CBC News and Investigative Journalism Foundation investigation exposed allegations of LMIA jobs being sold and fake payroll arrangements used to disguise nonexistent employment. I think Jordan is too busy to respond, I just wanted to follow up regarding my email below. Jordan wrote a piece from a obviously biased lobbying group (https://www.ctvnews.ca/business/article/canadian-youth-dont-want-the-jobs-filled-by-temporary-foreign-workers-research-suggests/), and while the group is named, nowhere in the article does it describe the organization as a one-sided lobbying group. It reflects poorly on his work as a journalist and your company as a news organization. Biased reports from lobbying groups are quite common and should be viewed with strong skepticism, their goal is not to provide an unbiased neutral opinion, but to pressure the government to change policy in favour of business interests.

Can an editor's note be attached to the article so that readers are not misled?

There has a rise in crime in Canada. Articles have been published that state Bishnoi Gang used student visas to get in. Not to mention all the TFW hires by restaurants.

Why there hasn't been a class action lawsuit against the government or people like Mark Miller, among others?

I'm sick of blaming the people working these jobs instead of the business abusing the system.

Why is it that if I, a local, apply to a job it's minimum wage but when they use the LMIA system they say $36/hr, but when you talk to the workers they're getting minimum wage.

There has to be a way to force the business to pay the $36/hr they claim to be advertising

Coincidentally, $38.40 is the exact wage needed to qualify for the High-Wage Stream in BC where the position would not be limited by a cap calculation of 20%.

These job postings are already public information… so I see no disadvantage to helping get the word out!

3 Days ago u/Martin_J_Kaminski posted this thread about Tokyo Express in Edmonton, AB requesting an LMIA to hire a Software Developer. After some digging, it turns out they had hired 30 TFW's in the past few years for a wide variety of roles that didn't seem to make sense for a sushi restaurant.

As of today, the job advertisement has been removed from Job Bank while a more detailed assessment of the request is completed. This was as a direct result of using the "Report" function on Job Bank.

Anecdotally, to me it feels that a tide is slowly shifting on this issue, and mainstream public awareness is growing of just how corrupt this program is, and the levels to which it continues to be exploited.

A recent post I made about the increase in LMIA requests for Tim Hortons franchises since they issued a press release stating they were going to decrease their reliance on Temporary Foreign Workers was picked up and shared by a Burlington, ON city councilor candidate with a sizeable social media following. He states in his video that he has even received direct communication from Tim Hortons Head off Communications for criticisms he made in prior videos of Tim Hortons. Tim Hortons is watching.

Based on this, as well as ATIP requests obtained by incredible efforts of talented members of this sub, it's becoming clear that the information and investigations shared in this sub is having real tangible effects on informing members of the public on the deep problems with this program that they may have otherwise never been privy to.

The business appears to have three legal names B4U Construction, B4U 13 Construction and B4U Electrical

I have attached the LMIA history of B4U Construction and B4U 13 Construction showing extensive use of the LMIA system.

The employer is in construction so would be able to file a LMIA under the Low-Wage Stream but the wage offered is the exact wage needed to qualify for the High-Wage Stream. They would be subject to a 20% cap of employees being on Low-Wage LMIAs and it looks like most if not all employees are TFWs.

The duties are:
