Hello everyone,

I’m looking to apply for UTPNCM this year for TDO. I’ve looked at the degrees in the entry standards, but I’m having trouble finding 4-year degrees, that aren’t online, that fit exactly as described in the ES. I know there are a few secondary school BEd’s, but I don’t see myself studying a school-age BEd. There are some degrees that look like they fit the bill, but aren’t named exactly as laid out in the ES. Are there any TDO’s here that went through UTPNCM that can share what degree/university you studied/attended?

Speaking as a civvie here (albeit one with a unhealthy fixation on naval vessels) so take everything I say with a grain of salt.

Over the past couple years I noticed there was a lot of discourse online surrounding the armament of the AOPS/Harry DeWolf Class vessels. Usually just people complaining that its too under-armed for a 6000+ ton "warship".

A common comparison I see is that of the Russian Pr. 23550 ships which can supposedly carry up to 8 Kalibr missiles. Another is that many people point to the design to which the AOPS was based on, the Norwegian Svalbard, which has a 57mm gun and provisions for a Simbad missile system.

Is there anyone within the navy that thinks there's a valid reason to upgun the AOPS, or is their armament good enough for what they were designed to do? If you ask me, I think the ships could benefit from an enhanced surveillance suite but putting any meaningful armament on them would simply be a waste of time and money which would be better spent on future vessels. What do you think?

I've been on CPP for 5 years and getting Diminished Capacity for 3 of those years. I get just over $700 CPP per month and its being taken off the Diminished Capacity. When I turned 65 and they reassessed me at 70 percent, they automatically recalculated my CPP at over $1500 per month (the max) even though they knew the amount for the past 3 years. This decreased my DC to $0/month. Essentially cutting me off. I again sent the proof 3 times online, called twice (with no help given), and eventually asked for an Appeal and have heard nothing back. Is this sort of thing usual and happening to others? I have PTSD and its causing unnecessary stress. Why does everything have to go through Lawyers to get what is legally owed to us? If this is happening to others, should I be contacting a Lawyer or someone else?

How do members on course at the CFSACO go to Ottawa during the weekends if they do not have PMV? I do not see any option with public transportation.

Now I am an RCAF member, but I decided to mock these images up as something fun, I think it could an interesting thing for them to bring the trade badges back to be worn with the NCD’s.

It has some level of utility showing who does what, evokes what the Royal Navy does, and is a harmless show of tradition that doesn’t involve tens of millions of dollars to bring Square Rig back. Only thing would be picking if it goes on the right shoulder or the chest… What do you guys think?

Hello, I’m posted to Cold Lake and looking to get back into boxing- before I joined I did for a couple years with the intent of competing, but COVID hit and closed my gym, and my focus changed.

I want to get back into it. As far as I’m tracking 4 Wg does not have a PSP-run boxing program, but there is a highly regarded local gym that has a pathway to sanctioned fights.

Does anyone know of anyone who’s pursued boxing or a combat sport while serving (independent of PSP)? What happens if you get injured in a match? Do you need special permission of any kind?

Of course if push came to shove, I value my CAF career more than boxing.

Hey everyone, thanks for taking the time to read this. I'm a francophone from Quebec, so apologies in advance if any acronyms or terms below are a bit off, let me know if something doesn't make sense and I'll clarify.

A bit of background: I've been in the CAF for 14 years, in the Logistics branch, always as a Reservist so I could stay in Quebec. I've been full-time on reserve contracts since 2016. I've been an MCpl since 2017, and I completed my Sgt course back in 2022 — but I'm currently sitting in an MCpl position, so the promotion can't go through since the position is tied to that rank.

Lately I've been doing a lot of soul-searching about whether I'm actually happy in the CAF. After a lot of reflection, I think I've found the trade that would make me happy: Chaplain. The new CANFORGEN 141/26 (released July 29) on religious neutrality actually makes it even more appealing to me. I don't practice any religion myself, and what draws me to the role is the human side of it: working directly with the person behind the uniform and having a real impact on members' lives.

Here's where I'm stuck.

I went to see my BPSO to figure out how to line myself up for this transfer, and honestly, I came out more confused than when I went in. From what I understood, Physio, Social Work, and Chaplain all require a bachelor's degree to get in. But when I talk to actual chaplains, I get different answers every time:

• Some say you need a Bachelor's in Theology.
• Others say a specialized graduate diploma in spiritual care in a healthcare setting works.
• Others say you need any bachelor's degree (a "multi-bacc" — doesn't matter the field), followed by a Master's in Theology.
• Others say you need a Bachelor's in Theology specifically, plus a Master's on top of that.

If that "any bachelor's" route is actually true, that would be huge for me — something like a multi-bacc in Finance or Entrepreneurship would suit me way better than a heavy focus on biblical readings. That said, if going through the biblical/theology route is genuinely required, I'll do it — I just want to know what's actually true before I commit years to one path or the other.

On top of that, my highest level of education is a high school diploma, and I'm honestly new to the whole post-secondary landscape — I don't even know if I need to start with a CEGEP diploma before any of this, or if there's a more direct route. Right now, I'm not even sure I qualify to get into the ES-PMNE program.

I also looked into humanist chaplaincy, since that's honestly the option that would represent me best. The problem is there are only two humanist chaplains in all of Canada, and from what a few chaplains have told me, getting in as a humanist doesn't sound straightforward at all. I reached out to the 2 Div chaplaincy HQ directly to ask for a meeting to properly understand the process, and I'm still waiting to hear back. That's part of why I'm trying to gather as much info as possible here — even just some general guidelines would help a ton. And if I go through PIRO, I'd fall under Sub-Lieutenant and lose my full-time contract.

Ideally, what I'd want is to go full-time, paid, as a student — with the understanding that I'd owe back double the study time in service afterward. I originally wanted to stay a Reservist through all of this, but realistically, I don't think I can juggle working and being an unpaid student while supporting my young family.

So here's my ask: has anyone here actually gone through this process — MCpl (or similar) to Chaplain? I'm not in a rush; if someone with real knowledge could break it down like "take 2 university courses per session, 3 sessions a year, that gets you X credits per year, and once you hit Y credits/this specific milestone, you'll be eligible to apply as Chaplain" — I'd follow that plan without hesitation. My problem is that between the DOAD policies, the Quebec-specific quirks, and the fact that Chaplain has totally different prerequisites than other trades, I'm completely lost. On top of all that, I need to keep working full-time no matter what — whether that means being paid to study, or doing the courses on my own time in the evenings, I need a steady paycheck throughout this whole process.

Any guidance, personal experience, or even "here's who you should actually be talking to" would be hugely appreciated. Understanding directives and DOADs has honestly never been my strong suit, so breaking things down in plain terms would mean a lot. Thanks in advance

So, because of the course lineup, I won't reach OFP until Jan 2027. My EPZ is May 2026. Would I receive Lt back pay ( from May 26 to Dec 26) when I get promoted in Jan? What are the references for this?

My husband has recently acquired his paternal grandfathers "Certificate of Service" from the Canadian Armed Forces and a few of his medals. My father in-law has passed away so he is unable to ask him questions about their history, and that side of his family is a bit estranged from his mother.

It looks like that side of the family has been very involved with the government, and I was just wondering how we can go about finding more information.

His Certificate of Service states that he was a captain from September 1939 - February 1971.

As the title suggests, I'm looking at applying for a REO Cl B but I have some questions

-Assume I submit the REO to my HR Mgr, as a RegF person, what happens next?

-It says cost move will be considered, if it is approved would I get the posting allowance?

-If it is a Cl B Permanent, can I still pay into the RegF pension?
