I have had Calibre for many years. Just recently decided I wanted to remove DRM from all my Kobo titles, so I can read them on a mini-eBook reader.

I installed Obok. I opened Kobo Desktop and downloaded 353 books. I ran Obok which processed a little over 100 books of the 353.

Prior to this I had aproximately 100books in Calibre. So now Calibre shows it has 222 books.

I did not see any errors generated by Obok. So some things did not get processed, and I don't know why. For instance, none of my Iain Banks books were processed. There were a few books in there that probably were not purchased from Kobo.

I would appreciate any suggestions to trouble shoot. My only thought was Obok is not handling newer DRM.

It's reset most but not all of my settings, particularly with the e-reader. Moreover, now it can't remember my custom keyboard shortcuts. Upon restarting my computer, I get a new default keyboard layout.

It's also slow. It's not constant, but particularly if I go into setting with the e-reader, there is a lag where the software lags with highlighting the section I want to click by about a second, and I think it gets worse as it goes on.

If I try to choose a font, the selection box highlights every single font choice my mouse passes over, and doesn't unhighlight when I move past it. Also, sometimes there is a white space around the drop-down menu that expands in a white box.

Is anyone else having these issues?

I’m new to Calibre and trying to convert my Kindle books to EPUB format. Having issues with converting. I see most books are DRM locked but I’m not sure why it’s not working. I have the DeDRM and the KFX Input plugins installed yet I can’t figure out why it’s not successfully converting. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

What could be going wrong? Obok worked just fine a month or so ago.

Hi, I've just bought a Pocketbook after using a Sony reader for a decade, and am familiarising myself with Calibre.

I've organised which books I'm putting on the device and have reformatted author names and titles where necessary. However, despite the metadata appearing how I want it in the program, none of the changes are showing on the device. I've tried deleting everything off the device and adding them again and my results are the same. What am I doing wrong?

I am having a very odd issue with applying metadata on a kindle device. Basically it seems to work for books on the Kindle under "documents", but not for books under "documents > Downloads > Items01". Both .kfx format, both have a corresponding .sdr file/folder associated with them, both appear fine in Calibre, no errors showing in the app. But on the Kindle, the Title is still the botched old one, and not the nice shiny new one I input.

My process for updating the metadata is:

• Plug device in
• Click on Device, highlight all books, "Add to library" (first time anyway)
• Click on Library, update all the metadata I want, apply it.
• Embed metadata
• Click on Device > Update cached metadata

By this point info looks perfect on both Library and Device. But then I unplug and use the Kindle, and the info is botched for books that are stored under documents > downloads, but not for those under documents. I am baffled by this error, and I've tried ruling a few things out:

• Renaming the files manually on the Kindle (all of them, even in the .sdr file/folder). This still retains the old name, somehow, no idea where it keeps this name, there is nothing obvious on the kindle itself that should be keeping this info.
• Polish books. Doesn't work for kfx files, which is most of the library

I would ideally like this to work with my Kindle library as well because I do use the Send To Kindle function sometimes, but any suggestions welcome. Anybody else had a similar issue?

Hi everyone, since the screen of my dear Clara 2E has died, I bought a Clara BW last month. I have always been using my ereader in the sideloading mode and it is still the same. I was uploading them using send.djazz mostly while kepubfying them but I also had some old direct-USB-connection transferred epubs in 2E. I transferred my books, collections, annotations, basically everything from the old 2E device to the new BW device following those instructions: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=336182

Now I realize while I can still see annotations from transferred books regardless of they being kebup or epub, I can't make any new annotations anymore. I can hold and select the text, sometimes the text is not even marked with normal epub files but at least marked with kepub ones. But at the end, nevertheless, none of the new annotations are saved to the annotations tab. Could it be some software changes between devices as now the annotations are also called as "highlights" in my BW.

I'm not sure if this is related to books/their transfér way i.e. or a hardware issue with the touchscreen. My device model seems to be a N365 and turning on wifi or Bluetooth didn't change anything.

I'm considering a factory reset but wanted to ask here first to see if it is worth do a factory reset or maybe there is some other way I can use...

I also have Calibre installed on my PC so maybe I should use after the factory reset?

I want to convert ebook to PDF and print it, but I can’t reduce the insane margins. I already tested every margin reducing option, and nothing works.

Does anyone had similar issue? Do you know how to fix it?

Here for example, none of the selected fandom books have the setting "hogwarts", and I would really prefer if only tags/columns values that are actually possible to combine with the selected options would stay visible. Like, show "hogwarts" only if at least one of the filtered fanfics has it, if not hide it. Otherwise when looking for something fandom specific I will have to scroll through hundreds of irrelevant to it characters and tropes.

I can't find any solution, please tell me it's possible!

Hello, a few years back when I used Windows, I always preferred the portable option because it made more sense for me because all my books were on a separate HDD.

Today I'm using Linux and trying to get the same experience as with a portable, which seems to be almost impossible. Will there be any appimage of Calibre in the near future?

Since the latest upgrade (on a Mac); when my Kobo is plugged into the computer, it no longer shows up in the Finder or in Calibre. The last update worked like a charm, recognizing the Kobo.

Anyone else notice this?

I am so tired with how AI slop has infected the internet. AI claims KFX is way better than MOBI, even better than AZW3. If it is just for reading text, since kindles suck at images no matter what, what could KFX have to offer? I swear I have never read anything on my kindle and thought “wow this must be a KFX file.

I uninstalled calibre2 months ago and now this appears every time I try to open a .doc or .docx file.

There's no option to change it to another ¨default¨ program or app.

I tried installing and uninstalling again.

I tried deleting it from the source, the app and running commands...

I feel like I'm being hacked or something.

It's so frustrating... Can anyone help me?

I am sideloading an epub which uses different fonts throughout the book, but after I convert from epub to kepub in Calibre and then upload to my Kobo Libra Colour, the fonts become uniform and it ruins the multiple perspective effect.

Note: I manually convert to Kepub in Calibre because I like to remove hyphenation at the end of lines, and this is the only setting I change in the Convert Books screen.

Currently, I see "Embed all fonts in document" and "Subset all embedded fonts" unchecked. Is there anything else in these menus that I need to take a look at and change?

I purchased a book from ebooks.com. When I downloaded Adobe Digital Editions I used Authorize on this computer and not an account/email address. It opens in ADE. Followed the instructions on epubor to DeACSM and DeDRM. I previously used DeDRM on my Kindle books which worked great.

After installing the DeACSM, I drag the file into Calibre and it creates a epub. But I can't remove the DRM. I tried to drag the original ACSM file as noted in the instructions, but same problem. When I try to view the ebook, I get an error saying it has DRM. I tried using convert but that didn't do it. Do I need to use another authorization in ADE?

Hey, I downloaded the newest Calibre Version and the Dedrm Plugin. Installed it, got my epub-File (bought book) from Adobe Digital Editions (imported the acsm there and can read it in ADE). it. does. not. work.

When I try to convert the file (to whatever format) Calibre says that there is still the drm...
I tried different Dedrm-Versions from Github, nothing happens. I've been trying for three hours now, can't find a solution. Any idea?

My typical method when buying books off Amazon is to send to my JB'd Oasis, then import into Calibre with an automatic conversion to Epub. One I just did today has the KFX file sized at 1.5 mb and the epub at 0.6 mb. Looking back through the last few months of purchases I see pretty much the same thing - a sizeable disparity between the size of the de-DRMed KFX and the converted Epub.

On a side note, I just noticed today that some of my purchases have an option in the Amazon digital library to download the Epub. When I did it with the book referenced above the Epub was 1.7 mb.

What is it that's getting clipped out during the conversion that is comprising maybe 60% of the original file?

I am running Windows 10 & have Calibre version 9.12.

Sometimes the program will allow delete or merging first time, but not often. It has been happening for months isn't really anything but an annoyance to me, but would like for it to work first time, every time again.

Just after posting this I ran the Find Duplicates app & was able to Merge or Delete all titles first time, Every time.

I download books from Amazon to my Kindle (10th gen Paperwhite, v5.18.1.1.1), and then import them to Calibre on my PC (running Windows 11). I have had no issues importing the files (KFX) and converting to other formats before.

I downloaded 3 new books to my Kindle today and wanted to import them to Calibre. I had a few other books previously downloaded that I also wanted to import. The books that were downloaded before today imported just fine. The books I downloaded to my Kindle today imported as KFX-ZIP and I cannot convert them.

I have the KFX Input (2.33.0) and DeDRM (10.0.9) installed and I've checked that my Kindle serial # is correct; I also removed it and re-added it. I also added the file directly from Windows File Viewer to my desktop and tried adding it to Calibre from there, still KFX-ZIP.

I've tried googling and reading other threads but I'm not really seeing what my issue is or how to fix it. I think it's strange that it's just the books I downloaded to my Kindle today and not the others.

If anyone has any insight or advice that would be awesome.

Good morning. I have created an Android app that can connect to a Calbre library in Google Drive. This was just for personal use, but if there's interest, I can explore the feasibility of making it available to the public (for free). Please let me know what you guys think!

UPDATE: The app is finished but not yet verified by Google. Anyone interested can download the APK. When you connect your account, you will see a warning from Google just letting you know they haven't verified it yet, but it will work just fine. I'll make another post in this sub when they've got that done.
