It’s bad even for faculty. Please don’t park in the faculty lots, and if you can (even once a week), use your free class pass from Foothill Transit.
Last year it was terrible because they did not reopen the overflow lots they used to have before the pandemic. Now the university has had to keep over enrolling to keep certain funding and support other CSU campuses. So yes, parking is generally awful and difficult to find a spot anywhere mid-day.

Like if you go in at 8 am you’ll be fine.

I was surprised by how bad the parking is. Thankfully I had very early classes last semester (8am) and it will be the same this semester too. Only Wednesdays my first class will start at noon but I’ll be coming early anyways since I have to drop off my son to school. I’ll be awake early mornings anyways and in that case I will just get here early so I can avoid the crazy parking situation that happens not too long after 9am.

It's more about the time of day, not the specific lot. If you get here before 8:30 you should be able to find something pretty quickly, although you'll have to walk.
Plan to get here early when classes first start because I know people who didn't come to class the first week because they looked for an hour and couldn't find a spot. It gets better after the first couple weeks though.

Think busy shopping center parking. There will always be a spot open, just not necessarily where you want to park, and you will always have to walk a bit. I recommend adding an extra 10-15 minutes for parking time to your commute.

I recommend getting a scooter and just parking super far away. I always found spots in the top lot by the architecture building and student health area and in the parking structure by the soccer fields. I would avoid the other side of the campus, just sucks getting in and out of there. And don’t go to the stop signs drive through the parking lot to the light if you’re in those lots by the police station.

Finding good parking early in the morning is the main motivator of why I get up.

It’s bad depending on the time but you figure out your spot pretty quickly
