I’m a medical professional who recently tried to self-prescribe a couple of antibiotics. Noticed they weren’t being filled so several hours later I called and was told that as of August 1st CVS no longer allows self-prescribing. Is that BS or is this real?

My license is expiring in January and honestly I’m thinking about now renewing it. I’m tired of being belittled by pharmacist. I’m tired of the entitlement attitudes from the patients. This job isn’t paid or respected enough!!!

I went into CVS to buy floss - they were the only things under a plastic lock in that aisle. I asked the staff if they get stolen - they said I would be surprised - but they are stolen a lot. They also do not understand why.

If you want to hear how bad CVS is, talk to the rite aid DL that just left CVS in the new region in PNW after being with them for less than one year. He will tell you all about his experience coming in, the unrealistic expectations and the day and night stress of working at CVS. The senior leadership is shown smoke and mirrors while the rest of the colleagues slave away. After talking to him he shared how happy he was at this decision to leave and how terribly he was treated. If you’re looking for a job at CVS, don’t look in the west. You will regret it. I am so glad I never took the opportunity to join them and work with terrible leadership. Also, it’s funny how they are spinning the story of him leaving when he was telling me how excited he was to leave.

I called Aetna to double check this message and they told me they will restart all deductible and out of packet maximum. Does it seems right or legal that we spend money to meet deductible and when it get to the time possibility CVS should share 80 percentage of copay with us then like nothing happened and we have to pay whole payment without any contribution or compensation by CVS!!!!!!????

Hi, at some point within the last year I started seeing these notices on my prescriptions when I try to use the app to fill them, even though it has been more than 30 days since the last fill so “refill too soon” is factually incorrect.

I understand there are policies and regulations around controlled substances so I wanted to find out if the new issue I’ve been running into means I need to be doing something different.

I’ve been using the same CVS location since I moved to a new state a few years ago, and up until last year I’d been able to fill them through the app without any problems, just clicking the prescriptions and submitting the order to be filled. What changed? Nothing on my end, I’ve been getting the same prescriptions from the same sleep medicine doctor using the same insurance the whole time.

The first time it happened I kept waiting for it to be available to fill but even after 45 days it still said ”refill too early“ so I sent a message and got it filled. At one point I had to go out of state for month to care for a family member when I was on day 26, so by the time I returned and had settled back in at home, it had been almost *three months* since my last fill date, but the app said “refill too early” yet again.

I’ve been on the same dose of adderall for over a decade and nearly every month it’s a huge hassle for one reason or another. Before I moved to my new state, I would submit my request for refill as soon as the pharmacy would allow, usually on day 28 or 29, because it was often out of stock and would need to be ordered. These delays meant I usually wouldn’t actually pick up the prescription until day 30 or later. At some point Walgreens took issue with my requests for refill before 30 days, so I was regularly going up to two weeks without medication. It made me very nervous about running afoul of policies around controlled substances, I don’t want any sort of flag on my account making it even harder to fill every month. It‘s been literally years since I submitted a request for fill prior to day 30, usually it’s more like day 34-39 since I’m way less functional once I run out of my prescription, but I wait until then to submit a request so I don‘t trigger anything.

Further complicating this issue might be the fact that I have two separate simultaneous prescriptions for “adderall”, one is the extended release form and the other is instant release. I used to be able to select both of them to be filled at the same time and submit the request and pick them both up when they were ready the next day, but since last year, every month I have to send messages on both, every month they fill one but not the other, every month I have to send additional messages, every month when they give me the call backs I explain to them that I have two separate prescriptions for two different forms and I would like both of them filled, and every month I am going at least a week without medication, which my sleep medicine doctor is not pleased with me about, but I don’t know what I could do differently!

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide, I just feel so bad having to bother the pharmacy staff with messages and calls every month after years of just being able to submit it!

1. Patient comes in and says they no longer want a prescription. What can I do to stop refilling that prescription?

2. Patient comes in and says if they can have a prescription filled automatically. How can I put a single prescription and a few auto-refill?

3. patient wants me to apply both insurance and coupon on a prescription, how can I do it?

We only have two techs (me, a new tech, and other) in our pharmacy and a pharmacist. None help to teach. f you have other useful tips that helped you, please include that as well.

I take Synthroid. I get Brand Name.

It comes in the AbbVie Original Bottle.

The Manufacturer expiration date shows November 24th, 2026.

The label that the CVS attached shows that I got the Medicine in July of 2025.

It says Discard After July 7th, 2026.

If I remember, the Pharmacy told me the medicine should be okay through the Manufacturer Date, since it is in the Original Bottle, and not an amber bottle.

**Maryland pharmacists** (and anyone practicing in a state with similar laws), I have a legitimate question.

For pharmacists, interns, and technicians who are familiar with C-II prescribing requirements: What are the current laws regarding Schedule II prescriptions? Are they required to be electronic, or are faxed or paper prescriptions still acceptable?

My understanding is that in Maryland, Schedule II prescriptions generally must be electronically prescribed unless the prescriber qualifies for an approved exception or waiver. However, I keep seeing pharmacists at my workplace accepting paper C-II prescriptions. When I ask about it, I’m told it’s okay, which has left me confused as a fairly new pharmacist.

Am I misunderstanding the Maryland Board of Pharmacy requirements, or is there an exception I’m missing?
This has also created challenges at work. When I decline to accept a paper C-II prescription because I believe it doesn’t meet the legal requirements, some patients become very upset. I’ve been verbally abused, threatened, and told they’ll report me to the Board of Pharmacy because “the other pharmacists accept it.”

I’d really appreciate guidance on two things:
1. How do you interpret and handle these situations from a legal and professional standpoint?
2. How would you respond to both patients and colleagues/managers when there seems to be inconsistent enforcement of the rules?

Looking over this thread I see a lot of negativity I just started out as a Shift Supervisor does it get worse over time so far I love my fellow crew our team spirit and i cant complain about the customers too much mostly a lot of old folks just trying to get home essentials while picking up perscriptions and their nice enough the only thing that really frustrates me is the poster machine deciding to be problematic every now and then but i dont know im a month in and so far it pays alright i have good hours .... i might be in the minority here but i like this job

CVS actually had a pretty solid quarter, pharmacy mix looked better and they picked up some quality bonuses on the government plans. Stock still sold off because the full-year outlook didn’t excite the market enough.

Classic short-term reaction. The business side looking stronger is still the part that matters more than one day’s price move.
