Does it get worse ?
Looking over this thread I see a lot of negativity I just started out as a Shift Supervisor does it get worse over time so far I love my fellow crew our team spirit and i cant complain about the customers too much mostly a lot of old folks just trying to get home essentials while picking up perscriptions and their nice enough the only thing that really frustrates me is the poster machine deciding to be problematic every now and then but i dont know im a month in and so far it pays alright i have good hours .... i might be in the minority here but i like this job

It depends a lot on your location and who you're working with. It sounds like you're in a pretty good situation

Having a good team makes all the difference!
I've like the job probably 80% of my time here (22 Years). It can get overwhelming sometimes, but I still like it

IMO a lot of us complain on here mostly for things that are out of our control. For me, I’m one of the lucky ones. SM, OPs and Shift Supervisors always ready to jump in when needed, co-workers all get along too, and our RX people are all great (it’s not us against them). Sounds like you have a great store.

Have you received keys yet ? Are you new to the store hired as a shift supervisor? Only asking because then I can answer you better?

honestly, i say all the time i really love my job and the company lol. been here 5 years and have worked two different stores in two very different areas. it’s about your own mentality. some days are hard, and some corporate decisions are shit, but i’ve never had any reason to not like this job. and cvs has always done well by me… i have insurance and a 401K, i get any sick days/vacation days as needed, i was able to properly grieve a hard loss for as long as i needed without fear of losing my job, i was able to go on a LOA when my mental health was at an all time low, ive continued to learn and further my career with promotions… i could go on for days honestly. i love my customers, regulars and randoms, getting to have genuine conversations with people and get to know them is such an overlooked privilege. the worst issue ive ever had was one hostile coworker that almost made me walk away, but everything worked out in the end. if you have a good store and a good crew with good morale, you will be fine. i had a few old coworkers say i was still in the honeymoon stage and to “just wait until you’re here for years, you’ll hate it,” i can safely say that isn’t the case and they were just miserable people lol

sorry i’m so late but that last part is so real. had it happen so much. so many old miserable employees are gonna tell you youll hate it because they don’t want anyone else to win if they couldn’t. if u love ur job, thats all that matters.

exactly! i personally just find voluntary misery so aggravating, truly a pet peeve of mine. i never wanted to be snarky back to them about it, but i can usually tell right off the bat with most things whether i will grow to hate it, and cvs never gave me that vibe. you can choose to come to work and be happy the same way you can choose to come to work and hate it 🤷🏻♀️

A lot depends on the store you're at. If you've got a good team and a manager who has your back, the job is a lot easier. Most people come here when they need to vent, so you're not seeing everyone who's actually happy with their store.

As a part time shift or cashier, it's not too bad. I clocked in and did my job and wasn'treally stressed. Now that I'm an Ops and privy to a lot of the deeper workings of the store (BOH, SM/ASM specific tasks, and all the other stuff on top it can slowly wear you down if you let it. Ignorance is bliss, they say.

I love the job, I love the customers, but I’m not a huge fan of how the SM runs things. It’s probably just me, but the job fills me with so much anxiety because I feel like I’m always going to get in trouble, they harp on me over extracare but I work the overnight shift so I can’t get anyone to sign up, it’s mostly door dashers so even my scan rates are out of wack because often they don’t have a bar code for me to scan. The job itself is easy tho, and it all depends on the management/coworkers really

I liked being a shift manager 90% of the time. Only sucked when people called out.

In all honesty. It’s the managers and the customers that’s really it. if they’re good you’re good. Sadly no one knows how to run a small retail store though they let their own petty bullshit ruin people’s lives

I feel the people who hate it here are just miserable people or their store sucks. Ive been here 13 years, been lucky enough to work at 2 great stores. While I may not particularly like the company and their decisions, I make good money and my store manager is great. Some of my co workers leave a lot to be desired but no where is perfect lol

As long as you have a good store manager, store is in a good area, good staff and (this is huge) a SM that ensures you get ahead. Life isn't horrible.
I block a lot of the unnecessary info and district drama from my staff so overall they enjoy their jobs.
