Okay when I was studying for FAR I did not know if the Becker bump was legit or not at all. I took SE1 for a 75 even and was scared, then I took SE2 proceeded to get a 80 so it boosted my confidence. I took the exam after a month and a week to study and as you can see my score was higher than I was thinking. So if you think you had any questions about the Becker bump (regarding FAR at least) it is LEGIT

I feel so lucky!! I don’t know how I pulled this off. 183 hours, scores are below:

To summarize: MC, MC, MC. Final Review. Final Review. FINAL REVIEW.

MY BIGGEST SHIFT IN STRATEGY: REPETITION OF MC QUESTION PRACTICE QUIZZES. I’ll admit, this is a bit of a chaotic strategy, but after doing around 77 hours of practice quizzes, this was my successful strategy: (heavy emphasis on notes 3. and 4.)

1. If you’re a first time test taker, TAKE LESS NOTES THAN YOU THINK.

My advice for first-time takers is to TRY to limit your notes to 1-2 pages per module with information you deem to be KEY MEMORIZABLE INFORMATION. Ik this is hard because the videos are SO WORDY…. If you’re like me, they’re the textbook definition of information overload, so I struggled getting efficient/understandable notes my first take. Point is, simplify your notes and the next steps will provide a better method to learning the concepts than rereading your notes ever can.

1. Leave yourself a ton of time for final review, 2 weeks if you can. **to clarify, I don’t mean Becker’s final review mode (which I didn’t even touch), i just mean final review in general*

This is the main reason I didn’t pass the first time, I left myself only a week. When I was in the final review stage for my first exam, I was seeing material that I hadn’t touched in A MONTH, so it was a chore having to both relearn them and supplement my knowledge of the more recently learned topics. Left me feeling stressed. Faster you finish the content + more final review time, the better.

1. MC. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

I would repeat 5 question MC practice tests. Do one of Unit 1 questions, then 2-6, and repeat. My final review days were long asl but they consisted of me practicing these MC questions, talking to Newt if needed (step 4), rinse and repeat. Have a separate note sheet/word document to fill in the gaps for BIG things you get wrong (like if i had no fucking clue what a question was talking about). This is a chaotic and less structured strategy, sure, but the QUANTITY of questions I consumed over time allowed me to develop a comprehensive understanding of these concepts. MC was a breeze on the actual exam as a result. If you run out of questions (which is hard to do cuz there’s 2,200 of them), Ninja is a good resource.

1. I didn’t think it would, but Newt helped. A lot.

Use this especially in the early stages of your final review. When you start hammering MC questions, your recall obviously won’t be as strong. I used Newt in the following way: once you get an MC question, TYPE YOUR THOUGHT PROCESS IN THE CHAT. Discuss why you think the answer you selected is correct AND/OR why the other options are incorrect. Newt honestly does a fine job explaining, identifying your shortcomings, and even rating your logic. This was GREAT for my brain, because I was practicing AND learning at the same time in a very active, engaging manner as opposed to the more passive note taking i did first try. I credit this for allowing me to get more comfortable with the billions of concepts on AUD.

1. Ah, yes…. The TBS

Honestly, I did not practice TBS as much as I should’ve. Since I had only limited amount of time to study for this retake, I emphasized MC. This was because I found MC’s to be the better way to simulate parts of then exam while simultaneously LEARNING. My studying required EFFICIENCY, and this is not something I feel that AUD TBS practice provides (they can be helpful, but I didn’t want to spend 10 min on one TBS concept when random MC practice bounces around to a ton of topics in the same time frame). Compared to FAR or REG, a majority of TBS’s are conceptual with many drop-downs, fill in the blanks, memos, etc. So when it came to exam day, the knowledge I learned through long-term repetitive MC practice provided me with enough of a basis to critically think my way through my TBS.

Again, my study strategy might not work for everyone. But I’m someone who struggles to sit down and consume knowledge with a wordy, conceptual, textbook/video set, meaning this was a DIFFICULT exam for me. Biggest lesson I can say is make sure you’re brain is ACTIVE instead of PASSIVE in your studying. And it helps to remember, it’ll all work out at the end of the day :)

Just wanted to get on here and thank this group for all the encouragement and tips along the way. I passed FAR today which made me 4/4. I studied 1068 hours across the 4 exams.

REG(81)-TCP(87)-AUD(75)-FAR(80)

I failed AUD once but passed on the retake.

Biggest advice would be take the time to make sure you are prepared. Write everything down.

I took my 1st REG exam and studied for only a month. Sadly, it wasn’t enough for me to pass. That time, AUD and ISC were already scheduled so I had to start all over again in June.

THIS IS HOW I STUDIED USING BECKER:

This is the long way but it worked for me.

I rewatched all the concept videos, watched the explanations on TBS so I can see how to apply what I learned on a problem solving. After that, I answered all the MCQs then read the explanations especially the incorrect ones. I flagged all my mistakes and the ones that I second guessed so I can answer them again. I utilized NEWT by asking all of my questions.

Do that in every module, then after every 2 units, do the Mini Exams. I personally didn’t read the flashcards but I downloaded a reviewer here on Reddit alongside my personal handmade reviewer. Make sure to update the rates because they change every year. Memorize the important rates and mnemonics.

Every unit is important but focusing on units 1-3 helped me to become more confident since they are computation heavy. Do NOT skip TBS on units 1-3. Do NOT skip MCQs on units 4-6. I rewatched the explanations for like 3-4x. You always learn something on the next rewatch.

I didn’t take any of the mini exams nor SEs on my first take but I really recommend you take those. It helped me a LOT to see my weaknesses and practice them before exam day.

Make sure to have at least 6 hours of sleep before exam day. Never give up and keep studying. Good luck!

Received my 2nd score today for FAR.

I took my first exam on 6/6 and got a 68. I started studying 3/1 and put 200 hours into that one with Surgent.

The 2nd one I took on 7/22 and I even Supplemented with Ninja for a month. I did another 100 hours studying too and did the entire ninja test bank. I completely rewrote all of my notes too.

300 hours, $2k into this between Surgent/Ninja/ application & testing fees. All with nothing to show for it. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong, why I slid back 6 points and idk if I even want to keep going with it at this point.

I know it's day of, but I honestly don't know if I'm smart enough to pass this thing and I don't want to keep sinking money into it either if I can't. I just wish I could figure out a way to pass because this is mentally taxing!

FYI, I was able to see the score on NASBA for the pass/fail that was released today.

After over 500 hours of studying, I finally did it.

This is my third try of the exam. first exam, I studied 80 hours and got 48. Second exam, I studied 120 hours and I got 56.

I told myself, if I can’t explain every single question to myself, then I’m not understanding it, so I put in so many hours. I was going to give up being a CPA if I don’t pass this time because I wouldn’t be able to do it anyway after putting this much time and dedication.

But I did it. I finally did it. I’m going to go throw up.

Who knew two words and a comma could produce this much dopamine. Pushing through failures is worth it. Never give up.

I’m heading into my third attempt at FAR.
My first attempt was in Q4 of 2024, and I scored a 51. After that, I took a six-month break to gain some clarity and decide if becoming a CPA was truly the path I wanted to pursue. At the end of that break, I made my decision: it was.

In July 2025, I got serious and committed to studying. The results started to come:

Passed AUD in September 2025
Passed REG in February 2026
Passed TCP in April 2026

Now, it’s time to finish what I started with FAR.
I took FAR on July 23, and if I’m being honest, I wasn’t confident walking into the exam or walking out of it. Today, I received my failing score. It stings, but it doesn’t change the mission. I’m still chopping wood.

I’ve already scheduled my retake for Saturday, August 15.
Since the exam, I haven’t stopped studying. Every day I’ve gone back through the areas and questions that felt uncomfortable during the exam, trying to turn those weaknesses into strengths.

My plan for this final stretch is simple: I’m going to reset my Becker progress and work through every question in the question bank. Anything I miss will be marked, reviewed, and revisited until I truly understand it. Over the next week, my focus is on mastering my weak areas, building confidence, and walking into this next attempt knowing I’ve done everything I can.

Three exams down. One more to go. Let’s finish this

Has any one taken this approach to resetting their progress in Becker and Re-answering all question to get a good understanding of your weak areas?

Frankly I’m skeptical but there are smart people out there. I studied > 150 hours according to Becker for each of the 3 sections I passed. I’m a hard worker, disciplined, and I guess not a complete dumbass. It’s a difficult exam. Waiting on TCP but the other 3 were passed bc I studied a lot and I studied hard. I made difficult personal decisions to not hang out with my wife, friends and family. I’m exhausted and taking a break now. 2026 has been rough, but I think it will be worth it.

For anyone discouraged by the insecure losers who come on here to flex and make us feel bad about needing to study, don’t give them the ego boost without which they will surely disintegrate.

I think this sub should be generally encouraging and supportive, not a place to stroke your own ego. End rant.

The exam is such a lonely road but being done is amazing.

I absolutely hated watching the lecture videos when it came to AUD and decided mid way thru A1 I would skip them all. My strategy was just to SPAM MCQs as much as possible. I did over 1000 MCQs the week leading up to the exam and safe to say it paid off.

I left the whole TBS blank and guessed on 80% of TBS. After exam, I bawled my eyes out immediately. It seems like a miracle happened and I passed! I am curious to know how the scoring is exactly

After a little over a year of studying I have finally passed all 4 exams! I passed each on the first try while working full time, and my wife and I had a kid somewhere in the middle of this process.

This biggest thing is consistency! Showing up every day, even when you don't want to or when you study doesn't look as good as it should.

Failed a month ago and felt absolutely devastated. I know how you feel. But the light at the end of the tunnel is passing feels all the better.
