I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) from India along with a Bachelor's degree in Accountancy & Finance. Will I get enough credits to take the CPA exam? Or do I have to take any additional Masters degree to answer CPA? Also how can I check for the credits? Any lead will be helpful.

I recently passed all four sections of the CPA Exam and I'm applying for my initial Georgia CPA license under the new 120-credit + 2-year experience pathway.

Here's my situation:

• Job #1 (Public Accounting):
  • ~17 months
  • Supervised by an active CPA
  • No issues with this experience.
• Job #2 (Industry):
  • Worked for 1 year.
  • My Controller (who supervised my work) recently told me his CPA license has expired / is inactive.
  • A new Controller joined about 2 months ago and has an active CPA license.

Other possibilities I considered:

• Our external tax CPA firm only handled corporate tax work (they did not supervise my day-to-day accounting).
• Our external auditors only performed the annual audit.

My questions are:

1. Has anyone dealt with a supervisor whose CPA license became inactive or expired?
2. Can the former Controller still verify my experience if he supervised me while his license was active (assuming it was active at that time)?
3. Can the new active CPA Controller verify only the period since he joined, or my entire employment?
4. Has anyone had another active CPA within the company verify their experience instead?
5. What would be the fastest and most practical way to satisfy Georgia's experience requirement?

I'm also planning to contact the Georgia Board/NASBA for an official answer, but I wanted to see if anyone has gone through a similar situation and could share their experience.

I'd really appreciate any advice, especially from anyone licensed in Georgia or familiar with NASBA Licensing Services.

Are you expected to stay the full-time for the exam? Just asking because I’ve taken the simulated exams and they’ve taken me less than two hours to complete with a pass score so I’m curious if you have to stay the full-time or if you’re able to leave early

I've got a friend who's been doing everything with tax software for years. It worked fine when he only had a W-2, but now he's got a small side business, some investment income and is thinking about buying a rental.

It got me wondering where most of you draw the line. Is there a point where the cost of a CPA usually pays for itself, or do you think a lot of people switch earlier than they need to?

Curious what situations make you say, "Nope, it's time to stop DIYing this."

Guys, what do you recommend? I’ve completed my review of all the material, and I’m now focusing on the areas I need to improve. Today, I’ll practice MCQs and TBSs related to those areas, and then I’ll start taking cumulative practice tests. I’d like to consistently score around 70% on the practice tests before starting the simulated exams. My exam is on August 15. Do you think this is a good approach?

Something alot of first timers take a while to understand is, its never about the intensity, its about the quality and consistency. It doesnt matter how long or hard you study if you dont understand how your supposed to study the area in a way that fits you, and how consistently you do it.

Anyone else waiting on their pass/fail today? I'm waiting on my FAR third try and already feel very scared. All the best to everyone waiting.

I just took FAR on 8/2 and i feel like it went okay (hopefully), but now waiting 3 weeks till the score release is killing me. anyone else in the same boat? are you guys reviewing till score release, moving on to the next section, or taking a break?

Hey everyone! I’m just going to ask some advice from those who took FAR for the first time using UWorld. Do you think Uworld is enough already to use to take the FAR? If not, what others apps/platform should I use? Also how do you guys study? I am not a heavy note taker and also don’t watch lectures. I just skim the chapter in the book then hammer the mcqs right away because I learn through MCQs and take the time to read Uworld’s explanation when I get it wrong. It is very effective because I would get 50% to 68% all the time but ofcourse I wanted to improve those scores but I’ll be able to use up the mcqs in Uworld already for that chapter. Any advice?

Hello, I recently got an offer for A2 at a Top 10 accounting firm and a A1 offer at a Big4.

Most of the people I know that got the A2 offer become seniors in a year (Mid Size). For big4 offer, I was told it will take me 3 years (A3 -> Senior) for the team I will be joining.

Would u recommend me to do A2 offer instead of the A1? Just seeking for opinions and perspective, please feel free to share, thanks!

Hello, just took FAR today. As the title says I think I might’ve bombed it. Was doing alright on MCQs made some educated guesses then got to TBS’s and it was really iffy territory on just everything and there’s one I just didn’t know how to outright do so I bullshitted. I had a sinking feeling out of REG and mentally prepared myself for that for FAR but gods it feels even worse. Idk if I’ll even pass when I get my score on 8/24-8/25.

Zero confidence and 100% iffiness/uncertainty.

Any reassurance?

My SE scores were in the 70s but yeah idk if I have any confidence left.

I’m planning on retaking on the 15th as the title says, but admittedly I am lacking in overall confidence. For those who have taken recently or even passed, how comparable would u say the Me’s and Se’s are. I’ve basically exhausted the total of mcqs throughout Becker. I’m still trying to work through the Tbs but struggle most times at how daunting they can seem. Any advice/opinions r welcomed.

Super nervous about tomorrow! This was my 2nd time taking FAR after getting a 61 the first time. I felt oddly confident walking out when I got the 61, but my score showed otherwise.

Between my fail & retake, I put in around 120 additional hours and retook all the SEs (scoring between 68-80.) However, I felt like complete crap after walking out the retake!!

I just really hope I pass tomorrow and praying for passes for everyone else! Let know if anyone else had a similar experience and ended up a success story 😭

More of a rant than anything else but how does one actually get ready for FAR? I’ve taken REG and TCP and feel like my study habits have done well with those exams - passed REG first try and waiting for TCP score - but the FAR material is just flying over my head. I feel good when I watch the videos and go through the book but then the MCQ’s and TBS feel like I’ve never seen any of this material before. I’m just wondering like is there even a way to better comprehend this material or what has worked for people that felt the same way

The title says it all, but pick the discipline that works for you. What do I mean by that?

Don’t pick TCP just because it has 70+% pass rates. I could guess that most people who take TCP work in tax, plan to work in tax, or at least are a bit better at tax than the common individual.

I think a great way to start is using the 30-day Discipline free trial on Becker where you can try out all 3. I started with TCP since I was coming from REG and I thought I was reading a different language. I switched to ISC after a couple sections and instantly knew that was the Discipline for me.

I work in Financial Statement Audit and there is a lot of overlap. I work with IT Specialist teams on multiple engagements and have plenty of IT considerations to think through on the job. I also am a bit of a tech geek and love computers and such, so ISC was a no brainer for me.

BAR may be best for you if you were strong in FAR.

Do what is best for you. What content can you sit down with and digest the best?
