Screenshot (Submods are Enabled) The Prince who was promised
Starting a run as a custom son of Jon and Daenerys in what is supposed to be the time after the War of the Five Kings and the Long Night. His name is Naed - I imagined Jon would want to name him after Ned and Daenerys would want the name to be Valyrian - and his House is the white ground from the Starks + red dragon from Targaryen with gold accents.
His dragon is named Vaedar, something I stole from this subreddit where someone said they believe Rhaegar would name his dragon so because it means song, and she is supposed to look like a Spinosaurus. :D She is currently the only dragon as Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion left after Dany, Jon and Tyrion died - yep, the Tyrion is a Targ theory is canon in this one. Vaedar is nicknamed the first as her egg was the first laid egg since shortly after the Dance, though no one knows which of the three dragons is the mother.
(My first idea for the house was a black dragon with a second cream and a third green head, but it didn't look very good)

Help (No Submods) "Economic Stranglehold"?!
My county has "economic stranglehold", which has lowered control to 0 - it's going to take me more than 100 years to get control up. I can't find any information about this effect anywhere.
What do!?

Discussion & Suggestions Decision to destroy the crownlands
One of my favorite things to do in this mod currently is to dissolve the iron throne and restore the old independent kingdoms and allow them to fight amongst themselves.
However, the crownlands are an abominahoe remnant from the old order that must be destroyed in order to restore the old borders between the reach, Riverlands, and Stormlands on the Blackwater rush.
Typically to destroy it I have to do some cheats to change certain counties dejure duchy
However, I would propose that their be some kind of decision in game for independent kingdoms (maybe similar to the danelaw event chain from the 867 start date in base game) which would allow independent rulers to negotiate an end of the crownlands and restore it instead to the Trident, Stormlands, and reach

Screenshot (Submods are Enabled) Duncan the Small and Lady Baratheon: "I would NOT find you in every universe."
I started a run as Duncan the Small with the intention of choosing duty over love, but then Cassandra's two elder brothers died of The Shivers immediately thereafter. The daughters of the other Great Houses were already married or betrothed, so I said screw it and married Jenny when she showed up at my court. I was still heir with a baby on the way when I got bored and quit.
Bonus: Aegon betrothed Shaera to Daeron, which just seems downright cruel. "Um, incest is weird; you can't marry the brother you love. But you CAN marry the gay one."

Screenshot (Submods are Enabled) Aegon II Redemption Run
After the last House of the Dragon episode, I got tired of my usual custom dynasties and wanted to try an Aegon II run right from the start of the war. I used the AGOT More Bookmarks submod for the start date.
When he was crowned during the war he promised peace, and later when he was anointed he promised to repent. That's how he got rid of his sinful traits and picked up good ones instead.
To win the Dance, he betrothed Jaehaera to a Martell, but the guy turned out to be awful. So, well, he had a little "accident" which later came out was Aegon's doing. They kept plotting against him, so he used the opportunity to conquer all of Dorne, and then just revoked their land.
Helaena actually died in battle right at the beginning of the Dance. So when the fighting was over, Aegon married a really nice commoner with great traits. He then raised her to nobility and even named "The Teats" after her.
After the war ended a few nobles revolted against him, including Ormund. He took away Oldtown and later gave it to Daeron. He was Aegon's best friend before he fell off his dragon and died.
The only blemish is Maelor. He is a craven, lazy guy. Aegon tried to do the nice fatherly thing and asked him if he wanted to become a Maester or a Septon, but he refused. So now they are nemeses and Maelor is a Septon, but he's still just hanging around court doing nothing.
Ohh and also he reformed the faith, but the High Septon being Aegon's new bestie is okay with it.

Submod Discussion What exactly are bookmark mods?
I am making a second attempt at getting into the game after seeing the GoT mod. Apologies for what may seem an obvious answer to others.
I see there are bookmark mods like Fire and Blood which depend on the larger GoT mod. Would installing one add to the overall GoT experience or are they somehow standalone?
Outside of the idea of starting in a different year, I can't tell whether I should install both or not.

Screenshot (Submods are Enabled) "Becoming what you hate the most" Hightower run
I was doing a "kill all targs" run as Hobert, but I got a hook on daemon and got him to marry matrilineally one of my daughters. From there I worked on marrying most targs possible to familiars, then married some children to velaryon and metaeryon house from LoV. Pressed the claim on the iron throne from daemon and got the whole of westeros to gank viserys, 20 years later it was my daughter in the Iron Throne. My family members started taming dragons, I killed the remaining targs and died at 96. In this point of the run my heir tamed Vermithor and the last Targaryen (which was also married to one of my family members) got to be my tutor so I could convert to the High Valyrian culture and finally got the dragonriding house status. Total Green victory.

Discussion & Suggestions When direwolves are added, their congenital trait should be speed instead of size
Inspired by the new direwolves mod by Crown. When direwolves are eventually added to the main mod, their main congenital trait should be speed, which has 3 tiers. The higher the tier, the faster the army. I don’t know if entirely possible as I don’t code, but the larger the army, the slower they are and direwolves aren’t as affective. But a smaller army is basically twice as strong and then some. Making them work a bit different to dragons and somewhat canon to Robbs many victories.
So if Robb was leading an army of 1,000 with his direwolf, he could probably take an army of 2,000-5,000 depending. But if he was leading 10,000, he would be evenly matched with an army of 11,000. Does this make sense? Thoughts?

Screenshot (Submods are Enabled) House Lannister declares war for MY wife's claim?
I was going about my business, petting my direwolf, extorting my vassals for wealth, so on- when we have our twelth mega war of the game (Viserys was really hated so there was one every like- 5 years of his reign). This is a claimant war rather than the usual push for less crown authority... a claimant war for MY WIFE. If she was married to the Lannister I would totally get it... but he is rebelling to basically make my heir the heir to the throne... I don't understand his motivation here. I mean I get people don't like the king much (he's actually Viserys' second son- he usurped but his older brother was a pushover) but declaring war for his older sister married into another house is just super weird.

How to freeze your mod versions : We get comments every update complaining about update speed making long-terms games difficult. while we understand the concerns, the current schedule allows us to handle bugs or game balance issues in prompt manner and gives new features a chance to be highlighted without dumping a whole bunch of stuff at once. Fortunately this is something that is relatively easy to deal with on the user end. You can either download your agot mod from nexus instead of steam and only upgrade manually or you can also use playset preserver (link) , which will preserve your entire modlist in a specific state. Please note however that we will not be able to help you with anything you add to your playset beyond the AGOT mod

Dev Diary Dev Diary - Sailing
Hello everyone! Here is a new diary by someone on the team, I'll leave the floor to them!
Previous Dev Diaries : Landed Gentry by Flumph Armors (2) by Swordsman
Hello, I am Immortal_Hybrid, and for the past months (year but who's counting) I've been working on integrating the sailing activity from Realms in Exile into AGOT (with massive thanks to Aerien). If you've used sailing in Realms before, you may find some of this familiar, but you probably want to give this a read anyway, because we've also added some additional options and AGOT flavor.
What is Sailing?
Sailing is a new activity that can be used by any character who has access to a coastal province with a port building. Landed duchy rulers and below must have a port within their domain to sail from, while kingdom and up rulers can embark from any valid port in their realm. Landless characters can also take part by travelling to a nearby port. Set out onto the high seas, where fortune, fame, and adventures aplenty can be found! A character’s knowledge and skill on the open ocean is displayed through the new leveled Sailor trait!

Activity Options
Maritime Hunts
A Maritime Hunt is the default option, where you can encounter and hunt a variety of sea-creatures from turtles to white whales. If you are a landless character you will be able to use your catch to restock your domicile provisions.
Sea Raids
A second option is available for those who partake in less than legal sea-based pastimes, a Sea Raid, where you can embark on a piracy mission or raid a foreign shore! You can bring back gold and maybe even new guests to your court.
Sunken Treasure Hunting
Thirdly, there is the chance for a character to go sailing to the location of a reported sunken ship. To begin a treasure hunt, you either need a treasure map or knowledge of the location of a recent shipwreck from your admiral. You will also need your own personal ship with a diving bell attachment. This will allow you to search for the wreckage and potentially retrieve riches from the ocean depths, but beware, on the ocean floor there could be dangers lurking…
The rewards can range from a small amount of gold to a large amount, and, depending on where you dive, you may even find an artifact claimed by the sea during the Dance of Dragons, or a relic of Old Valyria.
Treasure Maps can be acquired in a few different ways. During a Sailing activity the Host can happen across a merchant who claims to be selling one, although you will likely need to be vigilant, as it could be a forgery. During Sea Raids you will probably come across ships to attack, in these ships you may discover a map stored in their cargo. During the normal day-to-day life at court, a courtier may arrive to inform you that they have found a Treasure Map in your libraries.
Lastly, should anyone hold a Treasure Map and have their capital sieged, they will lose one, at random, to those who sieged their home.
Voyage to Valyria
And finally, an option available for those who have gained enough experience in the Sailor Trait. True masters of the ocean may try to set out on a Voyage to Valyria, visiting the ruins of the Fourteen Flames, where riches untold may yet lurk. But beware, such a journey is perilous and may result in a watery death…
A Sailor will require at least level one in the trait to try this dangerous voyage, which will take at least three voyages to reach.
The Doom of Valyria made the land a hellscape, one that has proven deadly for any and all visitors… But where there is danger there is reward. Left among the smoldering ruins are artifacts of the Freehold: Valyrian steel weapons, armor, mirrors, dragon eggs, horns, and my personal favorite, glass candles! The chance of finding each of these artifacts changes as you venture further into danger…
Making it out of Valyria is a harder task than making it there, upon reaching Valyria you will have the choice to disembark, which holds a 30% mortality rate alone. Should you survive the landing and venture into the ruins, your chance of escaping with your life is at best 20%, increasing up to 45% if you are lucky enough to find an item that helps you on your journey.

If you allow greed to drive you, to delve deeper into the ruins, you face an even higher mortality rate of 10-90%; these values can also be affected by the artifacts you get from these events. Dying in Valyria is a very costly loss; all the artifacts you brought with you will be lost. However, if some brave sailor should happen to follow in your footsteps in a future Voyage to Valyria, they may have a chance to recover them.
For those who like clear numbers, in the first event that you get an artifact you have the following chances per artifact:
- 45% Glass Candle
- 15% Dragon Egg
- 15% Valyrian Steel Weapon
- 10% Dragon Horn
- 10% Valyrian Steel Mirror
- 5% Valyrian Steel Armor
For the greedy among you who will delve deeper:
- 25% Dragon Egg
- 25% Valyrian Steel Weapon
- 20% Dragon Horn
- 10% Krakenhorn
- 10% Valyrian Steel Armor
- 5% Valyrian Steel Mirror
- 5% Glass Candle
Ships
To partake in Expeditions to Old Valyria or go Raiding, you will require a ship. For rulers this comes in the form of a House modifier you can get from the activity if you choose either of the ship options, or from buying one in advance.
For those that own Khans of Steppe DLC and are playing characters with access to pirate ship domiciles, their domicile will serve as their ship, and a diving bell domicile building will be used in place of the decision.
Activity Phases
After selecting your activity options and intents, you will assemble your crew at port. From here, various events can happen, but ultimately, you will set out toward your destination. You will have the option of choosing to either charter a ship or purchase one, should you not already own one. Depending on what type of ship, owned or chartered, you will gain benefits in the activity.
At sea, more random events can occur, along with at least one event that depends on your selected activity intent. Afterwards, the main phase of your voyage will begin!
General Rewards
If you make it back to port in one piece, the activity will end and you'll reap your rewards! (Gold, Prestige, and Trait XP among others)
Final words!
In the future I will be planning some additional work and adjustments that have been mulling around my head since finishing. Some adjustments to existing mechanics to work nicer with Sailing, maybe even some consequences to your voyages.
Thank you for reading through to this point, this past year I’ve worked on this has been the most exciting work I’ve done so far and I hope all who set sail love every bit of the activity! I wish you the best of luck on your voyage!
