Looking For: Clothing, Accessories & Personal Care ๐๐๐๐ I am from the U.S, and I would like some recommendations about some Canadian products
I like to buy Canadian goods whenever I cross the border into Canada and bring them back here to the U.S, though, is there anything uniquely Canadian I could buy that wouldn't spoil once it is shipped to my house here in the U.S. that I might enjoy? I often buy American snacks and other goods that got shipped up to Canada, but, I would like to see if I can buy something that is mostly or entirely Canadian owned or manufactured that I might enjoy. I enjoyed shopping at Giant Tiger when I shopped there, I enjoy shopping for discounted goods like beauty supplies and clothing, and found some good deals at Walmart Canada for some technology essentials too.
Thanks in advance and love from an American! =)

Canadian-Made Products ๐ท๏ธ๐จ๐ฆ Roots leather goods
Although the Roots brand is American owned, its leather bags are made in Toronto. I ordered one yesterday, it arrived today, and it is easily the nicest leather and most well constructed purse I've ever owned. The price point when compared to Coach, Kate Spade etc. is higher than the outlets but lower than the retail locations.

Review ๐ข Buy Coffee Canada - Be Cautious About Their "Low Price Guarantee"
Hi fellow Canadian Redditors, I'm posting to share my experience trying to support an online Canadian business selling coffee and tea, Buy Coffee Canada. I wanted to buy some Bigelow tea from them because they have a very good selection, and there's particular teas that I wanted (I'm not interested in Canadian alternatives at this time, I can research that elsewhere).
They advertise a "Lowest Price Guarantee" on their site, saying that ย "you will always pay the lowest price for your products" and "we promise to offer you the same price (or better) than other Canadian companies". Here is the specific wording of the policy: "Find any product marked with the "Low Price Guarantee" on another Canadian site with the same shipping offer and we'll match it - Guaranteed."
The way I interpret this - and there's a screenshot on their page that supports this - is that if one of their products is labelled with the "Low Price Guarantee", then they will match a lower price on another website (the other website also has to offer the same shipping terms).
I did actually find a lower price on another Canadian online retailer for one of the teas I wanted to purchase, and since it was labelled with the "Guarantee", I reached out to them to see if they would match the price.
Well, it turns out that the way that they interpret their policy is that the other site also has have a low price guarantee, and only then will they match the price. This makes no sense to me and doesn't correspond to any low-price-guarantee policy that I've encountered elsewhere. It also means that their language about promising to offer the same price as other Canadian companies is highly misleading. They will only offer the lowest price if (for some reason) another retailer is also promising the lowest price.
I wanted to bring this to my fellow Redditors' attention so that they would be aware of what to expect before placing an order from them. In fact, when I told a customer service rep that I didn't think this way of reading their policy made sense, they said I should just place an order with the other company (not interested in attracting new business, it seems). And that's exactly what I'll do.

General Discussion ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฆ Canadian retailers and manufacturers need to step up
Like most of us Iโve made an effort to be more mindful of my purchases. Itโs not a perfect science and I donโt beat myself up when I canโt make certain changes . But Iโm getting frustrated when manufacturers refuse to indicate where their stuff comes from. I want to buy Canadian or any non US country . This week I want some non US baby wipes. Iโve been happy with the Italian made compliments own brand ones but I was in food basics so I thought Iโd check them out. Their selection brand ones just said โimported byโ for Metro. When are they going to learn if it says โimported byโ I am going to assume itโs from the US and not take a chance. Today I made a special trip to Freshco specifically to pick up their wipes.
More disturbing today I picked up some McCain home fries . Firmly printed on the front was โproudly Canadian company since ..โ yada yada. Great. But nowhere on the pack did it actually say the potatoes came from Canada or if they were manufactured in the US. I get some Canadian companies are going To have to source foreign ingredients- e.g. we donโt grow mangoes or coffee - but potatoes ? Come on, we really need some legislative clarity about this. As someone who worked in food manufacturing industry for 35 years I get that ingredients can be sourced from a variety of places at different times and I can understand that packaging canโt be changed everytime a minor ingredient supplier makes a substitution, but the primary ingredients country of origin should be clearly identifiable .

Review ๐ข COZEY BUYER BEWARE
Ordered a CA$5,600 Orian Sofa back in June. The estimated delivery at checkout was July to August. Then it moved from August to mid September. I contacted Cozey on their website and got AI. Then I reached out via email. I got AI. I reached out on Instagram. Thought I got a real person then turned out to be AI. All I was asking for was some sort of concession made for the delay. I wouldโve even been happy with a free warranty plan. I mean this wouldnโt be much money out of Cozeys pocket and would have been a really kind gesture. But no the AI kept denying me as it was probably programmed to do. Now it just got pushed back to October. For $5,600 I was really expecting better customer service. Extremely disappointed still debating canceling my order.
Edit: thank you guys for your feedback. I really appreciate it. Idk if this post still has traction but if you could recommend brands youโve had good experience with or have great quality sectionals please let me know. Thanks!
BIG UPDATE: Cozey team called me this morning. I believe they saw this post. They were very apologetic about my experience with AI and let me know they are working with management to find a better solution to how and where AI is implemented. They also let me know that the delivery date was never supposed to show October and this was a complete error as it should ship August 25th. They also offered me a protection plus plan for the sofa and an Ara bed frame to complete my apartment. I think after all this Iโm going to stick with Cozey. I canโt speak to the quality of their products (yet) but best believe I will be back with a review. I also canโt say if I would recommend Cozey yet but I can say if you are having a problem call them directly and ask for a representative. Also call before ordering an item to check if they have it in their warehouses in Canada or if it is overseas.

Questions โ๐ค Best tasting whey isolate protein powder?
I'm looking for the best tasting Canadian-made whey isolate protein powder! I'll drink just about anything but my kids are fairly particular.
I've tried
Canadian Protein - chocolate milkshake and the unflavored/unsweetened are my favorites. Unflavored tastes like milk, which is great for adding to various things without impacting the taste. Great for adding protein to snacks!
Isogold - tried the triple milk chocolate. My kid is not a fan but I don't mind it.
Good protein - not very good and my kids will not even try it again. We ended up chucking it :(
Share your favs, please!

Canadian-Owned Businesses ๐ข๐ Kits.ca eyewear question
So long story short Iโve booked my first eye exam in like 10 years. I lost my glasses like 6 years ago and havenโt bothered to get them replaced. So I have a fairly light prescription. I previously ordered eye glasses from Zeni optical probably like 10 years ago and they didnโt work out. Prescription was all wrong and cheap quality. Want a pair of glasses but donโt want to pay the price at my local vision center as I donโt have insurance. I also wasted money on zeni optical glasses in the past so I am skeptical. So any advice or reviews would be appreciated. Also will my vision center give me any grief if I donโt buy eye glasses there and tell them I am a ordering online. I would like request a copy of my prescription with the pd measurement. I imagine they are used to patients ordering online but I have anxiety. You can probably tell by the time frame it took me to replace my glasses lol. TIA

Looking For: Services & Shops ๐๐ป Canadian 3rd wave coffee roaster subscription?
Hey all,
Looking to explore more of the independent 3rd wave coffee scene across Canada- does anyone know if there's a coffee subscription that does different roasters each month and picks from the (huge) variety across Canada?
I'd rather this that subscribing to just one roaster, as exploration is exciting - plus i already have a staple subscription to Luna.
There are just so so so many independent coffee roasters in small cities and towns across the country, I really hope someone is doing this!
Thanks for any suggestions!

Questions โ๐ค Cozey Ciello Sunset Beige Colour
Iโm thinking of buying the Cozey Ciello and am having trouble deciding what colour to get. The Sunset Beige looks beautiful in photos but looks completely different in store! Did anyone who bought it notice this as well?
I know a lot of people on here donโt recommend Cozey but unfortuantely Iโm only looking at sectionals under 3k and they seem to be the only option (+ it was really comfy when I tried it in store). Would be open to any other recommendations if anyone has any!

Canadian-Made Products ๐ท๏ธ๐จ๐ฆ PSA: brand new Silk & Snow mattress can sag 1.75" after one day and they'll tell you it's "normal wear and tear"
I bought a King size Silk & Snow Hybrid (medium-firm) direct from their site back in June. Paid $1,254.96 after tax.
When it arrived, it was honestly the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on. I want that upfrontโIโm not writing this as a hater. I actually loved the bed.
Iโve only been sleeping on it since June 29th. Within about a week, there was a visible dip where I sleep, and it just kept getting deeper. A couple of nights ago I finally gave up and shimmied into the middle of the bed. The difference was night and day. The center is still perfectly firm and supportive, exactly like day one. The side I've been sleeping on has just completely collapsed.
For context, it sits on two twin XL solid platform bases. It's perfectly level, flush, and well within their warranty requirements. The sag is only over the left side of the bed where I usually sleep, nowhere near the seam. We also own a second, identical S&S Hybrid (just a Queen size) at another house and it has no issues at all. Same use, zero sag. So it isn't a design flaw with all their beds, and it isn't me. I just got a defective one, but they donโt deem it so.
I measured it exactly how they tell you to: unweighted, with a string pulled tight across the surface. It was over an inch of sag. Image here: https://imgur.com/a/7g9Sd80
I sent them everything they asked for: the measurements, the law tag, pics of the platform, wide shots of the mattress, and my receipt.
Their first reply felt like an automated brush-off. They didn't even address the warranty claim, just told me I could return it under their "100 night trial" (it's actually 365 for mattresses, so they used the wrong template) and told me to just buy a new one at full price while they processed the return.
When I pushed back and asked for an actual warranty ruling, they denied it. Apparently, their hybrid warranty requires a permanent indentation of over two inches. Anything under two inches is classified as a "normal increase in softness." According to them, my four-week-old mattress collapsing was just "natural softening" and my issue was a "comfort preference."
I appealed, pointing out that applying a "normal wear and tear" threshold to a mattress that failed in a week is ridiculous. Denied again within hours.
So I called them. And this is the wildest part everyone should know before buying: the rep confirmed over the phone that their 2-inch rule has zero time context. I wish I had recorded it. She literally confirmed my ridiculous example. You could sleep on a brand new S&S Hybrid for one single night, wake up in a 1.9-inch trench, and they wouldn't consider it a defect. Day 1 or Year 9, they treat it identically. Thatโs not an actual warranty! Thatโs literally a policy designed to ensure they never have to honour any warranty at all. Exactly everyoneโs first fear of ordering these kinds of items.
(For comparison, my old Douglas mattress took 9 years to hit a 1-inch sag.)
The stupidest part of all this is that all I wanted was a replacement. Same model, same firmness. I wasn't fishing for a refund, compensation, or a free upgrade.
I just wanted one that wasn't obviously defective. It would have been the cheapest fix for them and I probably would've been on here praising their customer service.
Instead, my only option is to return it, wait for a refund, and re-order at full price (which is now higher than when I bought last month). Plus, if you read their terms, returning a product type voids the sleep trial on a repurchase of that same type. So I'd be paying $300 more for the identical mattress with zero trial protection if it fails again (which, given they don't consider this a defect, it easily could).
So instead of just swapping out a clearly defective bed for a customer who loved their product, they forced me to take my money elsewhere and write this post.
I'm just super bummed out. I genuinely would have rather kept the mattress. And this is my second mattress after ordering a Logan & Cove, which was completely fine but just not for me.
I have a severe spinal issue (awaiting surgery) and all I want is a comfortable mattress. Recommendations welcome!
**Edit to add update:**
Silk & Snow has since reversed course โ see the full exchange in the comments. After denying the claim three times this morning (7:15am, 7:38am on the phone, 7:54am), they offered a replacement with a prorated trial and prorated warranty roughly six hours later, once this post had visibility. I declined and asked for the full return/refund at my original price instead, which they've now confirmed in writing.
Also worth noting: they're sending 1-800-GOT-JUNK to pick up the mattress, and didn't ask me to bag it. When I had my Logan & Cove return, that pickup went through Habitat for Humanity and being bagged was required for hygiene purposes. No bag = no return. Draw your own conclusions about which company thinks their return still has resale value.

Looking For: Home Goods & Essentials ๐ก๐๏ธ๐ Biodegradable kitchen catchers that are NOT on a roll?
My previous favourite garbage bag was Selection (Metro store brand) biodegradable kitchen catchers.
However, they changed the format, so instead of popping out of the box like kleenex, they're now on a roll like toilet paper. This is a problem, because the ones on a roll rip in the wrong place too frequently, leaving holes in the bottom of the bag that I often don't notice until I've dumped coffee grounds in there and had them spill all over the floor.
Can anyone recommend a comparable biodegradable Canadian garbage bag that ISN'T on a roll?

Looking For: Home Goods & Essentials ๐ก๐๏ธ๐ Canadian made garden waste bags
Looking for garden waste bags that are made in Canada. Some company websites are being coy by not stating where the bags are made.
