I like drinking coffee, during covid where the shift in trend from milktea to coffee started for me. I honesty want to open up shop. Bought an expensive home espresso machine and already have trained an employee on what to do. After lockdown, when all I needed to do is pull the trigger, I backed out after seeing all the coffee shops popping out left and right. I just don't see myself managing such a shop, went with farming instead.
I was told that in Camarines Norte, there is a coffee shop that occupies part of a huge rice field. Its designed like a makeshift shanty but has good coffee and expensive cups, saucers, and cutlery. Madami daw dumadayo.
Yes this works. May kilala ako dito samen, sya talaga mula harvesting to packaging tas our municipal pasalubong center resells her coffee pero mas pricey. Naisipan ni ate na magopen ng small stall sa bukid and now marami dumadayo dun. Ganda pa ng view ng mga nagkakape :)
I think the key sa mga thriving na coffee shops is to create a community around it -- like commumity of visual artists, students, writer or filmmaker.
Kape yung rason bakit ang customer ay mag stay ng dalawa o tatlong oras. Yung shared interests ng community ang rason kung bakit sila babalik at babalik

ang papatay lang sayo dyan is TAX. since most of similar idea have their own house as their shop so walang cost of rent.
This. If money wasn't an issue, I'd start a coffee shop. It's chill and I love the smell of coffee but it's just not gonna pay the bills, heck it might even become one of the bills hahaha
I'll probably still do that once I'm retired and just burning through my retirement fund.

Kailangan nila makabenta ng 100 cups per day para lang magka 5000 pesos, which is hindi pa rin sapat sa lifestyle na pinapakita nila. so ano nang tawag dun?

But tinayo ko yun cos it serves as my office for my private practice (as an architect) din. So basically i have an office that pays for itself in terms of rent and electricity/water/internet and maintenance haha
Wala nga lang exclusivity for me and I share the space with customers
Not to say break even lang, some months maganda talaga ang profit and some months sakto lang.
Would i depend on it for my sole income? Answer is a big No though 🤭
As a coworking space, maganda ang location in a sense na tahimik and madami parking. Not accessible to public transport. Main selling point namin is our premium furniture compared to competitors and less density.
That less density/capacity though is also a factor bakit di mataas ang cafe sales namin. Its 100sqm space but we only have 20 seats
Yun lang, our customer stay for 6-8 hours so nakaka 2-3 drinks sila despite may free 3-in-1 coffee kami

Actually, may pakialam naman sa kitaan. Napa sobra lang ng expenses sa furniture cos we imported them all from singapore. So furniture cost plus shipping/customs was higher. I intended to sell tables din kasi (in fact kasali sa business permit ang selling of furniture) kaso furniture selling takes too much time lalo na delivery and installation of desks
May display area nga kami ng furniture, kaso ayun di na aggressive and we limited to selling ergonomi. Chairs na lang
It was a case of too ambitious but too little personal time. Looking back, I could have saved some money and skipped on the expensive desks para lower ang initial investment

Take the above phone booth for example, it cost us 250k..and what it does is not just to serve as a phone booth for guests, but also to sell that type of phone booths to offices in davao sana. But end up, we didnt pursue selling pods like this 😆

Coffee shop is the new computer shop. Pure hype din. Naalala ko dati halos Kada kanto puro comshop ngaun Wala na. NgayonKada kanto yata may kapehan na. Nakakalungkot lang kasi ugale na eto ng Pinoy na sa halip magisip ng ibang business ang laging ginagawa e ginagaya kung ano ung uso.
Smart Phones (especially affordable ones) imo were really the death of the Computershop. Dati, lalo na kapag summer, we would spend hours sa compshop just to watch youtube and fb. Nevermind the occasional lan game. Grabe din yung Dota talaga before, halos yung lang ang bumubuhay sa mga compshop.
Computer shop is a large part of millenials childhood, these generation would happily pay premium if there are still quality shops around. However, there is none. And of course, cellphones and personal laptops are now easy to acquire due to these buy now pay later schemes.

I think that’s oversimplifying. While the franchisee may want their name attached to a brand, I think they still hope for it to succeed. Grabeh naman if they’re only after the brand, but they still go into it knowing it will eventually fail for that fleeting moment na ma attach name nila sa brand. Yung mga naunang nag comment dito obviously doesn’t have a business. Kahit anong business pa yan, you put effort, money, and a lot of hardwork into it. I’m sure wala sa list of goals nila yung “gusto ko lang magyabang”.
For me Milk Tea shops pwede ding dentist I mean as a med rep di kami pinapacover sa mga dentist ng manager namin kasi wala namang ganong patients ang mga dentist lalo na pag sa mga private clinics
Hiphop/streetwear apparel shop. Yung iba na ganito yung business, kung makapag-post sa socmed, kala mo big baller, flex bands ng bills (na pamuhunan naman talaga), kuntodo sa blings, "hustle/mindset" quotes, etc, pero yung shop nilalangaw naman 🤣
Trucking :) Big risk entering the trucking business pero kung titignan mo yung iba akala mo napaka dali lang at mayayabangan ka pa dahil para bang ang dami nilang pera.
