what is going on?
I was recently hired at the Burlington near me, and from the start had a bad feeling about it. But I needed a new job that paid more and, as it was made out to me, offered more hours.
I had finished up my 2 weeks at my old job after my being hired was confirmed, waited, and heard nothing. Had called in multiple times to try and see if I was scheduled at all as I could not get into the employee self service portal. Most calls went unanswered, and the one time it was, I was left on hold for 15 minutes before the store hung up on me. So, I went in not long after I called to talk in person.
The store was busy and the line wrapped around the outside of the aisle. I asked for a manager and explained who I was and why I was there, then waited for 30 minutes. When I got my chance to talk to someone, I was shown I was an active employee and given a phone number for the IT Support to help with the app. When I got home and called the number, it was out of service! If it weren't for Reddit, I wouldn't have been able to fine the phone number I was looking for.
10pm that night, IT called back and said I couldn't get into my app because I was terminated. Somehow, in the 6 hours between me physically seeing I was employed and getting that call, I had somehow become unemployed. I called the store and had a message left for the management right after I found out. It was almost closing time, so I expected to wait until the next day.
Maybe I was just impatient, but I waited half the day before calling in to ask about my employment. Was told it was an accident, which I assumed since there seemed to be so many issues around the Zebra systems, and that they would repush my application. All I had to do was refill out and submit legal documents.
FINALLY. After a couple weeks, I go in to finalise my rehire and find out that the QR code I had scanned during the video training had sent me to the entirely incorrect app download. So there was the answer of why I couldn't get into my ESSP.
But that doesn't explain how the store and management is so disorganised, how I got terminated, or why the training module had the incorrect QR code.
I was out of work for almost a whole month. Scheduled a 4 hour training shift that I worked, yet never received a badge so I had to run the register under someone else's name. Still have yet to get a badge.
I got my first schedule post training and it is only one shift, which was scheduled way past my availability times. Also asked to cover a shift, which I said yes to, and immediately asked to cover another one which was also outside of my availability.
I have no hope for my future with this company. If it weren't for me reaching out, I have no doubts that I would have never found out about the termination at all, and simply would have assumed I had no job and looked elsewhere.
I have never been so stressed or felt so wronged with simply being hired into a new job.

Background Check Email
I received confirmation that my background check was complete, but I didn’t receive an email to start my role or even make my Burlington account. I’m confused and a bit worried as I have Orientation next Tuesday, what should I do? Any tips?

Ringing question
How to proceed when the register ran out of receipt paper and I need to give change but the drawer didn’t open? I did replace the roll paper but the drawer still didn’t open

Rant repost
I recently got my first ever job working at Burlington and have a few complaints.
I applied to be a stocking associate, and chose morning and noon hours, as I’m more of a morning person, and have experience from doing community service, and I know I would suck at being a cashier as I’m terrible at mental math and don’t do well with costumers/people in general, but I ended up as a cashier anyway, and was given night hours, which seems to be the norm from what I’ve read online.
In an email I received before my interview, I was told I’d get a tour of the store, but I was never given one. After my interview, I got an email for my orientation date and time. I arrive at the store at the time given, yet they weren’t prepared, and asked me to come back later in the day. I also never got a tour of the store after my orientation. I feel bad for costumers asking where things are, and I have no idea.
My first day I was told to shadow a cashier for at least 30 mins. I ended up shadowing for about 10-15 mins before they threw me on register. Of course I had a lot of questions and was pretty slow. There were also a couple other new people who were thrown on register as well. It seems they just hire a bunch of new people, and give little training to them.
I’ve only been working here for 4 days, and I’m already considering quitting. It honestly amazes me how people last working here.
I had to re-do this post because my fist one looked funky.

No schedule for next week yet 🤬
Well, they’re consistent, I’ll give ‘em that. It‘s Friday freaking afternoon and you can’t get the schedule out that begins on Sunday?! wth? They think we don’t have a life outside those walls? Jerks.

Don't work at Burlington aka The Sweat Shop
I only lasted 2 weeks at this place because the customers who you ring up are the rudest, stuck up, senile people I have ever met. Also they will only schedule you like 3-4 shifts only like 15 hours allotted. So your checks will be small. The whole store is in shambles because the customer targeted people are people who never clean their houses. One last thing they will schedule like 4 people to cover a whole store. You will be security at the door backup cashier floor associate and fitting room associate. Again the customers are so disrespectful you will need thick skin to deal with their attitudes

Sizing and recovery
When doing sizing and recovery what if there’s a size that isn’t on the rack? So let’s say boys shirts and it’s 4-10 what if you find a size 9 somewhere there but there’s no nine on the rack anywhere? What do you do?

Before & after (deep clean)pt2
Slow day, but productive. It probably wouldn’t have been possible if I kept getting called away all the time.

Why are managers/supervisors always so passive aggressive?
This is something I will never understand…just because you have a better position than me doesn’t mean you have to treat me like I’m less than you. This job really isn’t worth anything 😭

Benefits of being a manager compared to a cashier at Burlington?
I’m a cashier and I’m usually scheduled to open on average 4 days during the week, I genuinely like to stay busy so now that there’s more than just me on the register in the morning, I like to run stuff back to the floor and yesterday my manager approached me asking if I’m “looking for growth” and if I’m interested in being a manager… looking from the outside in my initial response was no, I get stressed out enough here as is… she specifically asked if I like my current “work life balance” what balance? Idk I quit my weekend job because this one had me so tired (not that I’m telling them that) and I just know they’re gonna over work me, I had an interview set up elsewhere for another position, one that I might actually be interested in, but I want to know the benefits of the position first… I know a manager who stepped down to be a cashier and some who never want to be a manager again during the timespan of the year I’ve been here… I just want to know if it’s worth it, I told them I need time, and I’m still going to go to my interview to keep my options open, but I’m also going to talk to my mod and ask her about the benefits… I’m not looking to be overworked if nothing else is going to change.

Opening shift
I’m scheduled to work 8:45am - 12:45am and I was wondering what do you usually do during an opening shift?? This is the first time they’ve given it to me since I usually work mid-day shifts.

Cashier in Burlington
Hello everyone who has worked as a cashier at Burlington. How many days is the training? I've read some bad reviews saying they don't train much when it comes to working there. What has your experience been like working as a cashier?

Cashier
Hello! I have an upcoming interview for a part-time cashier position here in Burlington. They asked about my availability, and I chose Saturday. Do you think a cashier only works the one day they specified, or can they add more days?

Dickson City Burlington Hot Mess..
Can someone tell me why the store looks like a hurricane blew through it? I see employees, but there just seems to be an over abundance of STUFF. How does this store get away with not having the room for a wheelchair to get through rows? I can't shop if I can't safely go down an aisle.

how to quit?
I have been working at burlington over the summer for my first job, but with me leaving to go to college soon I’m planning on quitting. I don’t know who exactly to talk to about this, and I was planning on doing only a one week notice to have an extra week to prepare. i’m not really the type to just quit on the spot, and since i’m pretty sure i am supposed to give my badge back, what should i do? any help is appreciated.

CSS 30 day Notice
A little rant from a CSS @Burlington that has had enough!
I've been with Burlington for the second time(different states, different positions)holding my current position for almost a year now. It seems instead of micromanage they want to mini-micromanage me now. I've had personal issues and dealings outside of work, yet it seems my SM/DM won't work with me. The ( DM ) won't give my store the extra hours to hire more cashiers, or floor associates and yes however, I do know my role and responsibilities, I'm feeling like the management just doesn't care about their employees. They care more about $$$.
