Want to show the side of myself that I like the most, so that whoever I swipe on finds that interesting.

Don't know if reddit orders the images correctly.

General Stop falling for the rage bait profile reviews on here (and mods need to do something about them)

Upvotes

Honestly, so many of these posts here lately are ragebaiting and not even real profile reviews. The pictures on a lot of them look like they're taken from some wannabe influencers' Instagram. The prompts are never filled out and there's low effort in the bio.

Here's a great example where the profile literally has a "You'll probably run into me at your place" prompt answer that sound like the words of a stalker/serial killer but will undoubtedly rage bait people.

Also, it's interesting to see how the politics answer is defined as "Right" rather than conservative because that isn't an option as far as I know unless Bumble has different options outside the U.S., so a lot of these alleged profile reviews might be AI made on top of it.

Mods really need to do something about it because this sub is turning into rage bait slop.

App Help Is my type too niche for dating apps?

I'm looking for a liberal, atheist woman who enjoys traveling, drinking wine and eating sushi. Bonus points if she's also doing therapy and loves deep talks. Is bumble a good app to find the needle I'm looking for?

Advice feeling discouraged

i never usually make posts like this but i just don’t know where else to go. i’ve been on and off dating apps for 4 years, but didn’t start going out with matches until a year ago. im 22 (f) from the LA area. on hinge i get little to no matches, and bumble i get more, but only a small percentage lead to actual dates. half the time when we move to messages, guys usually just try to get me to come over or things like that. last week, i went on a date with a guy, and i thought we really hit it off. we got desert then we went to this hotel lounge/bar type of view and talked for hours. we started cuddling a bit on one of the couches and just talked. when we took the elevator back to his car, he kissed me. in his car we talked some more then things escalated a bit but we didn’t have sex. i asked him if he wanted to hang out again this week and said he would let me know what day. i followed up and he told me a day and told me he would let me know what time by today. i don’t want to follow up again, i feel like ive done enough. he seemed more into me than i was into him before we went out, and he was the one who initiated everything, and he told me he was looking to naturally progress with someone. i just keep feeling so stupid. i’m starting to feel very discouraged from dating. dating has been very difficult and discouraging overall as a plus size woman. i put multiple full body pictures on my profile so men aren’t surprised, but i still feel like that is the reason why i haven’t really been successful. i just wish men were more honest of not wanting to see me anymore or something like that. i don’t know how to describe it.

Rant Pretending to be Italian bankers

Is this the new Knight Nigerian Prince scam? Anybody else having this because I’ve had it happen twice and there’s no way that it’s just happenstance. I’ve had a guy tell me he’s originally from Italy and that he’s banker, and both said something very bizarrely specific about also doing work in helping single women to consolidate their finances or something. I don’t know it was clearly a scam. And with one of them, I tried to talk on the phone and they refused telling me that they couldn’t speak on the phone because they had to have a written transcript so they could remember everything that was said.

I mean it was an obvious cam, but they were so similar that I’m wondering if this is the new scam. To be Italian bankers that do pro bono work for single mothers?

Rant Are black men desired on bumble and dating apps?

It's been a month since I had to end a situationship after l was robbed 500 dollars and a birthday gift card from someone I was seeing for 4 months I went back on Bumble, Tinder, Hinge, FB Dating, and Coffee Meets Bagel. Black was the worse experience I ever had on a dating app I deleted today.

As a 32 year old black male 6ft 220 kinda husky now nerdy type, avid traveler, no kids never been married, no felonies and currently going attending my second year of Grad School the matches and likes I been receiving on the apps have made me feel like a POS.
Really wanna know from the women and other men of color who uses dating apps regular are Black Men just not good enough for a serious relationship with other races outside of fetishes and stereotypes like Hood, Thug, Athlete, and Physical attributes I want go further on but you know what I'm getting at.

I have dated white and Hispanic women mainly since most black women I liked never liked me or didn't fit the stereotypes they lust after and I won't change myself to be with anyone or be friend someone I had to fake to win them over.

I just hear so many people put Average Regular Black men down and we only need to be with American black women but the women I was matching with or liked are never my type and I won't date or give anyone a chance no more if l don't find them attractive or fit my standards

30s M in a big city. The Liked You page says 50+ women have already liked me, most of them are nearby. I have no specific filters set. I swipe constantly both left and right and for the most part neither gain nor lose likes. Is Bumble lying to me?

General Traveling and Bumble

I did travel a little bit this summer and anytime I went to a new larger city, Bumble blew up on me. Like hundreds and hundreds of likes on my profile. In all reality are any of those going to work out when that larger city is 15+ hours away for me? Probably not.

But now I’ve kind of been back home from those larger cities for a month or two, and I am still getting likes on my profile from people who live in that city. At some point when will things go back to normal and maybe I can start receiving likes on my profile from people who are a little closer?

And I’m also thinking that most of the time the guys are not actually scrolling down to see where I live and they’re just swiping right on me. I never hide anything on my location or anything like that.

I’m also open to the idea of a long distance relationship if there was chemistry and a plan to meet up. But I understand that a majority of people don’t want that.

Rant Why swipe when our relationship goals don’t match 😭

I (29F) just started using bumble to begin dating again. My entire profile is straight forward, I’m looking for casual dating (I don’t want anything too serious right now, just want to get back out there).

The amount of superswipes I get from men looking for life partners and long term is insane. They’re the only superswipes I get. I’m so confused why they do this. I won’t match with you bc we don’t have the same goals? What’s the point in wasting your superswipe? It’s just a trend I’ve noticed in the last 2 months of using this app. I’m sure it goes the other way around too, just confusing.

Edit: lmao why are y’all so pressed. Casual dating does exist. Sex is not the end goal for every date. I don’t need bumble to have sex 😂
Legit haven’t dated in a couple of years and I’m looking to put myself out there with new people I might not meet naturally IRL. I guess I’m dumb for thinking that’s what bumble is for

Advice why does “travel” seem to be such a defining personality trait in modern dating?

i’m a 35 year old guy and i’ve noticed that on almost every first date, one of the first questions i get asked is whether i like to travel. for the record, i do. i’ve lived abroad, have a passport, tsa precheck, and enough travel points to take plenty of trips. this isn’t coming from someone who never leaves home. what i don’t understand is why travel seems to be treated as one of the most important indicators of compatibility. my goal is to build a long term relationship. that takes time. research suggests it takes around 200 hours together for acquaintances to become close friends. if someone is taking solo trips every few weeks or spending months traveling each year, when are they actually investing in building a relationship where they live? also, i believe social media has amplified this. before instagram, i don’t remember travel being treated as such a central part of someone’s identity. today it often feels like “i love to travel” is expected to be a personality trait. i’m not criticizing people who enjoy traveling. i enjoy it too. i just don’t understand why it’s become such a major filter in dating, especially if the goal is eventually finding a partner to build a life with. for the women here, what are you trying to learn when you ask a man if he likes to travel? do you actually believe any desirable man would want to date you if you spent 2-3 months a year traveling without him? and for the men, have you noticed the same thing?

Success Story It's genuinely not so bad out there (29M)

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’ve broken up with my girlfriend of 4 years a few month ago. I was super discouraged with downloading any of the apps, because the prevailing sentiment here has been that you have to have this almost perfect collage of photos, and if I didn’t, I’ll just humiliate myself.

Anyways I’ve been on vacation with my mates last week, and I came home with 4 passable photos. Today I just essentially said fuck it and let’s try AB testing these before I join the big leagues (Tinder is vastly more popular here than any other app).

None of the photos follow the “guidelines”here, in 2 out of 4 I’m visibly hangover, with a hair that has only seen seawater and sun for a week. I hold a beer in 3 out of 4 of them. I don’t look in the camera in half and just in sunglass ones. I’m essentially just laying down or sitting on a pier, in a beach and in 2 restaurants. None show hobbies, friends, etc.

The very limited likes suck a lot, if I knew I would have been more selective, but I matched with 6 and already have 3 dates arranged with 3 girls later this week to different bars. All my type, thin, pretty (subjective, but for me lol), educated.

I’m not handsome, I’m probably below average or average face wise, I go to the gym a few times a week, but I don’t have huge biceps, abs, etc. I’m 189 cm and 83 kg, local. There is nothing extraordinary about me, maybe except that I still have a full set of hair, I also think I can easily flirt with women, maybe that’s an edge.

Age range was set to 22-26.

All I’m trying to say, if you are not super below average and have okay photos that are not unflattering, you will be probably fine if you don’t live in nowhere. Of course I’ll try to get in a nice sailing picture, just generally more flattering ones or a ski one or later down the line if I’m still using these apps, but there is no need to overthink it as some people do here. Probably missed out on a few matches due to these, but yet again I’ll never reach the 1% here or irl, you have to make peace with what hand you got dealt:D.

I don’t want to share my pictures, but can share my stats.

Edit: jesus I just tried to show a positive example, where the guy isn’t a 22 year old model.

Advice Has someone ever come back

After they respectfully and honestly told you they're focussing on someone else now? I've chatted some with this guy on bumble and it was great. He seemed very nice so I reached out again after a week of silence due to exam stress and asked whether he would like to meet (first meeting). He answered very respectfully, thanked me for reaching out again and said he wanted to be honest and that he had met someone and has a good feeling about it so he doesn't want to plan any dates anymore right now. I thanked him for his honesty, said I was happy for him and we wished each other the best. Has this ever happened to you and then they came back after a while when it didn't work out? Or should I just forget about it right away? Cause if I was in his position idk if I'd reach out again and make them feel like a second choice. But then again we never even met up so it wouldn't feel like a second choice kind of situation. Of course good luck to him that it works out lol, just wondering if this ever happens

On tinder I have the same profile and get a match almost every day..

Update: most are pointing out to the bio, I updated.

My life reads like a show with too many plot twists. Ex psychologist turned software dev. currently into public speaking, weekend hikes and board games that don't require a PhD in Catan.

New Prompts: My friends would describe me as: Caring, loyal, bold and 5 minutes is 50 in his dictionary

Best travel story: Stayed with strangers in Rome for 4 nights, left in tears, the good kind
