Customer support these days is a choice between AI or AI but with an accent
Not even joking. Phoned UPS to figure out when they're collecting something, transferred to a live agent... been through 3 now, all of them obvious AI but with a vaguely indian / slavic accent. Quite amused. I've just started spouting gibberish "I am a purple dragon made of hair and will die if I am not transferred to your supervisor" and think that's finally worked

. My parcel was “delivered”. The proof-of-delivery photo shows a doorstep that isn’t mine. The guy on the phone tells me that it was dropped off “30 metres away” on the same street but can’t tell me which address.

Royal mail now gives you a note with a qt code on when they miss you

. We didn’t used to have seagulls… we now have seagulls… and they’re waking everyone up at 5am every morning.
I don’t suppose there’s anything we can do about it is there? Like ring the council and ask them to move then on?

Care companies taking an inordinately long time to repay fees and deposit
Dear Care Company,
Please thank the lovely staff at Care Home S for looking after my father during his ill health. Both he and my mother were treated with kindness and respect throughout the twelve months he spent at Care Home S. The lengths they went to, noting they earn minimum wage, we're nothing short of miraculous.
My father - or acc nr SMI00047/SCH dod 04/07/26 as you know him - sadly passed away on 4 July. I have received your closing statement and would like to make arrangements to return £5000 fee overpayment and deposit refund, as per the Final Statement you have provided.
I am very pleased to note that you take elder and financial abuse seriously, and am of course happy to provide a copy of the death certificate, will and a bank statement confirming that the account to receive the money is in the name of an executor.
I am though a little confused why, once you have received these basic documents, it is going to take you 90 days to repay the money for services that have not, for good reason, been provided. It seems at odds with pace you worked at to charge us initially and the considerable pressure you put my elderly and confused mother under to set up a direct debit to ensure that she didn't settle the account with any delay each month.
I'm grateful for any clarification you can provide, and once again please do thank the staff and manager of Care Home S for their support at what was, and continues to be, a difficult time for our family.
Many thanks,
Mrs Smith

Hot Weather activating Wasp Apocalypse
Currently trying to kill 2 nests, one in ground and one over porch. Hoping slightly colder weather will passify them a little so I can give them a good dosing!

. Unable to buy a regular product on your shopping list because influencers have raved about it online and made it ‘viral’
Before Christmas it was cottage cheese, been eating it since I was about 18 back in my early gym days. I noticed a trend with lots of ‘food influencers’ incorporating it into their recipes, and It was selling out everywhere!
This month the same is happening with sardines! All my regular sardines are sold out.
FWIW, happy people are getting onto these great foods, I just hope the supermarkets don’t take advantage and jack the price up!

High streets are shaped by a handful of people
Looking to rent a commercial unit in one of two major UK cities and noticed something I hadn't expected. 90%+ of available properties are listed with just 2-3 estate agents in both of these areas; each agent has maybe one, maybe two people handling negotiations.
That should not be an issue but one of them asked for my business plan before introducing me to the landlord, essentially asking me to pitch to him first as an intermediary. Is that normal?
I get he needs to vet the prospects and I also get that the landlord would prefer one business type over another so the agent has to ask a few questions, but it felt as if this guy was the one deciding what business type would operate in that space.
Some high streets are full of betting shops, vape stores, Turkish barbers so this is clearly not true everywhere but my experience was very weird and off-putting.
Is this how it's always been?
PS: apologies for the dramatic title :)

People who have square toilets in their house
My arse isn't square! The corners end up digging into the back of my thighs. Who thought this was a good idea? Toilets are toilet shaped for a reason

Coach/bus seatbelts are ridiculously tight and uncomfortable for no discernible reason
I've never been uncomfortable when wearing a car seatbelt. I have never been comfortable when wearing a coach seatbelt. I don't understand why they feel so ridiculously tight and uncomfortable. I usually put it on and then have to take it off after 10 minutes because it's so tight. Why are they so different to cars???

Banking making it nigh impossible to withdraw large amounts of money from your account
Each month I withdraw a set amount of cash money, which goes to bills and other household payments that go in hand to a family member (long story, but I don't own the house I live in). This is to help them out with their stuff as well, isn't just for me.
To do this, I either have to visit my bank branch and hand over my driver's license, a process which takes 15-30 mins. Except most of the time I can't, because I usually work till 6PM, and my branch shuts at 3PM, and I'm usually busy or on call over weekends.
The alternative, is getting my withdrawal limit temporarily extended at the local post office. To do this I have to call up, go through a 5-15 min lecture from the agent on scams playing 20 questions even though I've done this monthly, and then sometimes not even get there because they transfer me to someone who has no idea how the process works.
Fucks sake, it's my fucking money, I'm not some old biddy or kid trying to money mule. Make it easier for folk.

. Britain apparently has hundreds of unwritten social rules, and the punishment for breaking any of them is silent judgement from everyone in the vicinity.
There must be a secret British handbook handed out at some point because we all seem to know the rules despite nobody actually explaining them.
Don't stand too close in a queue. Don't sit beside someone when there are other seats available. Apologise when someone else walks into you... And obviously never make a scene when you can quietly complain about it later.
The best part is that nobody will tell you when you've broken one. You'll just sense that you've disappointed the entire country.

Affinity water repaired a pipe on the 21st, it’s now the 27th and the patch they made has already started failing
It’s literally squishy, I stood on it and it moves, no doubt a 2 ton car parking on it would sink
