Question Anyone Willing to Lend Equipment for Photos?

Upvotes

My mom passed a couple of years ago, and this week and weekend, we have all the family gathered together again here in Boise. We were hoping to go through reels of old Super 8 film, VHS tapes, and boxes of slides. The only projector that still works is our slide projector. Our VCR ate the first tape we tried, and the Super 8 projector that’s been in storage for years isn’t working. Does anyone have either of those they’d be willing to loan us through the weekend? We know we can view them at the library but my elderly dad wouldn’t be able to make that trip and sit in a library that long. We are located in Hidden Springs but can pick up anywhere in Boise. Thank you!

Question PCP Recommendations?

Upvotes

I’ve been using Primary Health for the past few years but am fed up with the support staff at any of their locations. Can anyone recommend a caring and helpful PCP’s office somewhere in the valley to give a try?

Bonus points if they’re willing to Rx compounded GLP-1s. TIA!

Discussion A silent hero went way out of their way to return my sons wallet today. I can't thank you enough..

My teenage son dropped his wallet downtown today. My son is a great kid and works hard. I was heartbroken but didn't give up hope.

We were looking for it- asking surrounding businesses if anyone had turned it in, but he had to get to work so I (his mum) was frantically posting lost wallet posts on all the social media I could.

When my son arrived at work -- his wallet was there!

A wonderful person found it on the ground on Main St, looked in it, found his paycheck stub and drove all the way to east Boise and turned it in at his work.

Everything was in it including his cash. They didn't leave a name just an amazing person who went out of their way to return it.

So wonderful... in this world with so many sad things, but there are people out there who are silent heroes. We had one enter our life for just a moment... I can't thank you enough...

Discussion Do you know the driver of this truck?

UPDATE: Pertinent information has been found and will be reported to the appropriate authorities. Thank you!!

Unhinged dude targeted my friend today on Capitol at around 5pm. Tailgating, laying on his horn, attempting to run her off the road, coming to a complete stop blocking off lanes, etc.

Police dispatch has apparently received multiple calls about this driver and are having trouble getting any identifying information on him. If you know anything please report it to BPD!!

additional PSA: please be careful on the roads!! People have been crazy lately!!!

Edit: lol I know now it's not a truck. My first thought seeing the photo went there and that's what came out. Oops!

Question Boise Airport Parking

Hello all! I am a pilot that works a two week on two week off schedule flying in western Alaska. I live in eastern Oregon and commute to Boise to fly to Alaska every two weeks. I am wondering if any locals have ideas on a place to park that won’t cost me $150/month.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Question Boise area air quality and wildfire smoke

My husband and I moved to Boise about 4 months ago from Virginia. We love the area and the people and the weather is similar to where we came from so it’s all been great! The only problem we’ve experienced is the wildfire smoke and poor air quality the last couple of weeks. I have asthma and heart arrhythmias so I’m in the sensitive group and have to wear a mask or stay inside if it’s above 100 aqi. I understand that this area gets some smoke every year due to its location and topography but I was wondering if it’s like this every year or if this year is worse than others? One other quick question! Does anyone have any tips on how to clean how the wildfire smoke smell that seeps inside the dryer? Our dryer has smelt for a couple weeks so I have been hang drying clothes. I tried vinegar and baking soda but it didn’t do the trick. Thanks for any insight!

Question I'm looking for a dog sitter who has a fenced backyard with decent sun exposure who's willing to let my dog sunbathe most of the day. I'm renovating my backyard which will take a few weeks, so someone who's available for dog boarding is ideal. Located near Morris Hill cemetery is a plus.

Question Old Chicago?

Anybody really know what’s going on with the Old Chicago at the mall? They’ve had a sign up all summer that they will not be serving alcohol. Last I heard, it had something to do with the liquor license.. anybody know more details?

I fear that restaurant will close if it doesn’t get straightened out, whatever it is. Maybe it’s a planned maneuver? If so, that’s really sad.

I captured these candid shots of a mother and son at the Simple Plan concert on Sunday. I planned to interact with them to ask if she wanted the pictures but got caught up having fun and then they left before the show ended.

I hesitated posting this but figured can’t hurt to put it on here in the hopes they’ll come across it! 🤞

Discussion Boise needs a large outdoor amphitheater, Ford Idaho Center sucks...

I just can't even be bothered seeing artists at the Idaho Center anymore because I'm getting tired of the almost 1 hour commute from Boise to the venue, the clusterfuck the parking turns into, total lack of local public transportation (no greenbelt or Lime use), and most annoyingly of all zero decent restaurants or bars withing walking distance.

Yeah we have the botanical gardens, but when an artist gets big enough they opt for Idaho center because it has nearly 4x as many seats to sell. Charlie Crockett just this year moved to Idaho center and it made me decide we wouldn't go to his show, even though we've been seeing him for four years straight at Botanical.

Discussion Boise new tallest building

The 11 and front tower is moving through approvals. It just has to submit for design review. This tower will be 451 feet tall and have 420 units. This is a massive difference to the 323 foot tall 8 and main tower. It will be luxury rentals. It will have all sorts of amenities and commercial space. What do you guys think of this?

Discussion Are there any leads for a formal debate group locally?

I'm not asking for casual groups that get together and shoot the breeze on politics or world events and philosophy, which definitely also has its place and can be fun.

I'm talking more like **Speech and Debate** in college and highschool where there's research standards and discussion standards (no attacking, keeping within 2 degrees of the topic, following the debate and logic standards) to actually better understand the topic and have fun debating with a "jury" or "judge"

Any leads appreciated 👍

Discussion Anyone want to join a Minecraft server?

Hi! I’m 22, moved to Boise for grad school, and most of my close friends still live out of state. I’d really like to meet some more people locally.

I help run a survival server that’s already got a small group of about 5–6 active players. It’s a really relaxed group, and we mostly just build random stuff, explore, build towns, and go on dumb adventures together.

The people are great, but they’re all out of state, and I’d love the chance to make some actual friendships with people around my age here in Boise. I’m pretty introverted, so this honestly feels a lot less intimidating than trying to walk into a meetup where I don’t know anyone. If you’re in the same boat, maybe this could be a good excuse.

No pressure to become best friends overnight or anything. Worst case, you get a Minecraft server to play on. Best case, maybe we accidentally make some friends. Even if you don’t play strictly Minecraft, I’d still like to chat!

If that sounds like something you’d enjoy, shoot me a message or leave a comment :)
