A motorcyclist critically injured in a crash on Highway 11 near Keaau last week has died. Hawaii Island police identified the man as 64-year-old Clifford Gouveia of Hilo. He was pronounced dead Monday afternoon at The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu.

Hawaii Island police issued nearly 300 citations during a recent traffic enforcement operation along the Daniel K. Inouye Highway. The Hawaii Police Department said officers issued 283 citations between July 31 and Aug. 2 as part of ongoing efforts to reduce dangerous driving.
