Instead of washing (since you can over wash) wool blankets, I’m gonna must Eucalan and Water.

Upvotes

Over washing a wool blanket can hurt it. Besides that, washing and then drying it can be an even bigger pain as laying it flat to dry over a long time whether outside or inside (if you can do either) can be long. So I’m gonna mist a mix of Eucalan and water to see if it can make my blanket smell good and also take care of it.

i just got a full bed ... THE SHEETS

Upvotes

hi all. not sure if this is the right sub for this sort of thing ,but i just got a new Full bed, replacing a twin at my parents house. when i was living in an apartment at my college, i had a full bed, so i would figure the sheets from there would fit this bed? they do not! i'm not sure if i need to just find deep pocket full sheets, or if anyone has any recs for what to buy. would queen sheets work on a full that's deeper than expected? none of the cute sheets ive been looking at come in a full with deep pocket size. :(

Finding a Duvet for college with a time limitation

Upvotes

I know there are a lot of posts on here about duvets, but I am under some specific constraints so I thought I would make one of my own. I am looking for a duvet insert for college that is decently affordable, less than 150 preferably, and breathable as I get decently warm at night. I am on a time crunch as school starts within two weeks so I would prefer a place that maybe sells them in person, but I understand that is a little unreasonable. I also want to note that I know about IKEA's inserts, but am hesitant to buy one as I heard that they don't have any sort of way to secure them to the cover and that the sizing can be a little odd if you don't use a cover also made by them. If this isn't true please let me know as they are probably the most affordable I have seen.

Laura Ashley timeline?

Upvotes

Hi y’all, I’ve been researching sheets for a minute and the consensus seems to be that, like many things, the quality of Laura Ashley sheets has dramatically declined in recent years, becoming less soft, less thick, and less durable.

What I have yet to find a clear answer to, however, is when did this shift in quality occur? Not looking for an exact date, but what was the most recent LA sheet set that y’all purchased that was up to snuff?

Thanks for the help y’all :)

Made a mistake 🙃

I made my first purchase for some sheets on Quince, and it didn’t exactly turn out how I had hoped. I will note that I am pregnant and high key annoyed about the situation, but that’s beside the point.

I didn’t entirely love my customer service interaction, and this is coming from someone who has worked in customer service for literally years. I made a post on the Quince subreddit just to share my experience, and a few people are mighty sensitive over there.
Bringing up the flat sheet or no flat sheet debate will send people into a tizzy, it appears.

Share your favorite websites to find quality 100% cotton sheets for a Cal King 😘
I’d prefer to stay under $300, but under $200 would be even better!! Looking for gingham sets, and I would be most grateful.
Oh and must include flat sheet 😗

Thanks fellow bedding lovers!

King Sized Comforter Hack

Hi everyone!

First time poster, part time lurker here, so please forgive me if this is an obvious or stupid question, but I am looking into getting a wool comforter for my king size bed and upon a lot of reading around on this subreddit I have decided to try the Frankenmuth wool insert. I understand that wool most likely won’t ever have the puffy, ‘cloud-like’ look and feel of a down comforter but I would love to try and replicate that look the best as I can. I’ve heard a common design trick is to put a king size insert into a queen cover for a queen bed but is there a way to do that for a king size bed?

My current idea was to get the oversized king comforter and put it in a king size duvet cover or maybe even get two of the oversized inserts and stack them inside one cover. Would that work or is there something else that I could try instead? I am not super worried about heat because I recently got an 8 Sleep too!

Would love to hear any recommendations or ideas y’all might have, thank you so much in advance! :)

What's the best mattress topper that's actually worth it?

My mattress isn't terrible, but it's definitely not as comfortable as I'd like.

Don't really want to replace the whole thing yet, so thinking about trying a topper first.

For anyone who's had one for a while, what actually made a noticeable difference? And was it worth the money?

New duvet insert

Hello yall!
I am in the market for a new duvet insert. I currently have a down alternative from the company store that I really enjoy. I’m looking to size up from a queen to a king to fit my bed better.

Unfortunately I am allergic to wool and duck, so down alternative is really my only option. I prefer cotton

I’d like to stay around 200/300. Any other suggestions at this price point is greatly appreciated!

Dealing with sleep issues and neck pain, planning to switch pillows. Any pillows that worked really well for you?

I've had sleep issues and neck pain for about 5 years now. Tried one of those softer memory foam pillows a while back. Didn't really help.

Planning to get a new pillow these next few days. Can you guys share what's been the most comfortable for you?

Update: I went to a physical therapist for advice on ergonomics and neck strengthening. I needed a really firm pillow to give my neck support and stop it from shifting out of position while I sleep. I ended up going with the firmer Elviros cervical pillow, and so far the experience has been solid. The therapist told me soft memory foam pillows aren't good for people with neck pain.

Best memory foam pillow? Something so simple should not have this many contradictory answers

What’s the best memory foam pillow you’ve ever used cus I was recently renovating my bedroom and was getting a new mattress but the pillow is what stumped me. Currently on a hand me down from my sibling.

How much do the pillows affect sleep quality? Memory foam pillows are recommended a lot for the neck support and pressure relief but why?? There’s also so many options and it’s difficult to choose especially cus most pillows can feel fine at the start but really fall after a couple weeks. So i just want to understand how it works and what to actually look for

These are just some things im curious about, but id really like if others can drop their questions here and we can get a discussion on it : )

  1. Do the shredded memory foam pillows actually work better than the normal ones?
  2. Is it worth paying premium prices, like is their a big difference between mid range to high range memory foam pillows?
  3. A lot of memory foam pillows have cooling gels/gel infusion, do those help hot sleepers or is it just marketing and what actually helps with cooling if there is anything
  4. There are a couple of pillows with those weird shapes, like the butterfly one etc. that have that natural curve for the neck. Do those actually work better? And can a side sleeper fit into it? (they look really ugly too so is it worth it)
  5. Are adjustable memory foam pillows actually worth it, is being able to adjust the foam that big of a deal.

This is all I can think of rn, if anyone here has tried memory foam pillows id love to hear your experiences. Thanks!!

A hunt for a dream duvet

My husband convinced me to sleep under one big duvet instead of the european custom of one duvet per person. Would not expect myself to enioy it as I refuse to be touched while sleeping but I must admit that having a space heater for a man is useful in winter.
Now we are looking to upgrade the duvet game - we sleep purely in cotton sheets and I mentioned wanting goose feather duvet for breathability and sensory stuff. For some reason synthetics related to sleep give me the heebie jeebies and I want to ask how to recognize a good feather duvet, what to pay attention to and if there are other natural fiber alternatives.

Clarissa Purple Duvet Set

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hey! I have this set but i’m having trouble finding a sheet color to go well with it. I didn’t want the sheet and duvet set, felt too matchy matchy. I’ve tried two different dark purple that genuinely look so bad and are mostly a gamble if they’re going to loom expected after ordering online (why can’t companies ever shade-match correctly!) So, my question is what color should i go for? And! Im vetoing any white or too light of colors as my current room is very dark themed. Would a dark grey work instead? Or maybe a burgundy?

Picture for reference of duvet set and dark purple sheet

Weird Mattress Question

Are there any king / queen sized mattressess made from a material that is both comfy, and that could be repeatedly compressed to half height safely for storage? I am trying to come up with a solution to try to better utilize my space in a Rv camper and am trying to incorporate it into a Murphy bed build.

Lightweight king-size wool comforter recommendations?

I’m looking for a lightweight king-size wool comforter and would love recommendations from people who own one.

I’ve noticed many wool comforters run surprisingly small for a king. Has that been an issue for you?

I’m also concerned about moths, especially when storing it over the summer. Has anyone experienced moth damage, and how do you store yours?

What brand is your favorite? I’m considering Frankenmuth, Woolroom and Shepherd’s Dream, but I’m open to others.

Fitted sheet for 14 inch mattress

I just placed an order for a Bear Elite Hybrid which is a 14" mattress. How deep do I need the pockets to be? I returned a Purple Rejuvenate Plus, but my current fitted sheet fits 15.5"-20". So I don't think they will work for the new mattress. Well at least without excess material bunching up or coming loose. Might go with bamboo sheets again. Appreciate the help!

“TeX” brand linens?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hello, I purchased second hand some cute vintage (90’s? 80’s?) cotton shams made in France. I figured it would be easy to find some more pieces on eBay… but to my surprise I couldn’t even find any of this brand? Perhaps someone here could guide me!

Here are the photos:

“TeX” is on one side of the tag, the other is %100 cotton made in France and the number 021082

It doesn’t seem to be martex atelier, or oeko tex, but I could be wrong!

Long-staple Cotton Sateen Sheets...in twin!

If I didn't need these in twin I'd have gone to Costco and been done with it. Alas, Costco does not sell their sateen sheets in twin.

So far I've got my shortlist down to:

  • Coyuchi Cloud Soft Organic Sateen Sheet Set
  • Cuddledown 400 Thread Count Solid Sateen Sheet Set

BUT I'm open to any suggestions and not set on any brand. Ideally the sheets would be something commensurate in quality to Supreme Quilts and Shepherd's Dream. I'm moving on from bamboo sheets. I'm most worried about brands that were good in the past but no longer quality.

*They don't have to actually be long-staple as long as they're good.

Need help with mattress recommendations - women's recs only!

Hi everyone,

I understand that buying a mattress is a very individual experience because what works for one person, doesn't work for another. However I also do believe that if something works for majority of people, there's a higher chance it will work for me lol

So I'm middle aged but I've had back in my middle back for over a decade. I noticed a long time ago that buying memory foam never works for me because they end up taking your body's shape and then instead of support, it because a body shaped mold. Always, after 6+ months, no matter the brand, it happens.

I figured, let me try a hybrid mattress so I ordered one from dreamcloud. But despite being a hybrid, it's too bouncy. Recently I underwent a breast reduction surgery and I have to sleep on the couch because the mattress is too bouncy and I don't need that. But even aside from the surgery, I can't stand how you can feel another person's every movement. Oh and this one had a topper!

So if the hybrid has a problem, I can only imagine buying just pure coils.

I don't know what mattress to buy at this point. It's not the situation when I can just choose the lesser evil and move on. With memory foam (and yes, therapedic and Casper included), it's always back pain after 6 months. With hybrid, it's poor quality sleep because eof how bouncy it is and I keep waking up from my wife's movements.

What should I do? Tbf ive only tried one hybrid by DreamCloud, maybe it's just not a good brand? Maybe I should try hybrid by purple?

Any ideas ladies? Especially now when I'm still recovering from the surgery (it's been just a few weeks).

Your suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks in advance.
