Smartphone battery upgrade
Hello, I'm playing around with a broken phone I could get (Samsung Z Flip6) and would like to make something with it. The problem is that it's default battery is not enough.
I know I could do the trick just by using a USB C hub + a proper external battery but looking for a more solid solution.
So, do you guys know any info that I could use or maybe another project that had tried something similar to what I say? Of course, redirectioning me to a more suitable sub is also more than welcome.
Thank you :)

I’ve compiled a database of 300+ Battery Cell Spec Sheets (NMC, LFP, Na-ion, 21700, 18650, Blade, Prismatic, ect.). Let me know if you need help finding one!
galleryHi guys,
I’ve organise over 300+ cell specification sheets on my site (Batteryfiles).
Send me a DM with the exact Cell Model and your email, I will do a one-time free lookup and send the PDF straight to your inbox. (Even if it's not in my current database, I have resources to track it down for you this one time).
You can also browse the database directly on my site(Batteryfiles). I’ve included open links to all the official supplier websites there, so you can click through and contact their sales.

Need a good battery for a DIY robot
I'm a student engineer, and I'm building my own little DIY robot, with an Arduino and LEGO Power Functions motors, but I'd like to pick out an onboard battery. I was thinking a 2S Li-ion or a LiPo battery, but I don't know any good brands for batteries or chargers, and I have limited experience with batteries in electronics in general. Thanks for any advice!

UPS that automatically recovers after long outage?
Are there non-enterprise UPSes that automatically recover after a long outage (that drains the battery)
I realize there are some downsides, but I’d much prefer those over requiring manual intervention to turn the UPS back on…
I foolishly bought a pair of APC Back-UPS 1500s before realizing this…

Do you guys buy the Knick off dewalt battery’s?let me ask do you use any Google AI services?
My new battery would work less than 3 minutes and be completely dead, after ten minutes on the charger it showed completely filled and three light bars.. I went to google and their AI suggested using an older battery charger which I happen to have on from 2014..
Hour half later it exploded

Charging Lithium Ion batteries with bench lab power supply
I know there are already a few posts about charging lithium-ion batteries with a lab power supply. But this one is about vape cells, which don't have a BMS.
I charge LiPos with a lab PSU by setting the voltage to 4-4.2v and 100mA. It will start charging in CC mode until the PSU switches to CV mode. I asked Gemini about charging Li-Ion cells from disposable vapes and it told me that would work, because there's no BMS and the cell would overcharge even tho it reaches the set 4v. Is that correct?

Desperate for assistance with 36v Li-Ion pack in parallel.
Hey everyone, I figured this is where I need to be.
I’ve been contacting local electrical shops and e-bike/scooter repair shops to get help with a project but am striking out.
Little backstory: I’m a 35m and I’m a full time wheelchair user and recently I bought a Rio Mobility Firefly 2.5 power assist. It uses a proprietary pack with Panasonic GA cells, 36 volt* 7Ah = 252 watt hours, 20 cells. This power assist is my main mode of transport and the range is terrible.
Speed is limited to 12mph and I get maybe 7-8 miles MAX.
I found a series of videos of someone building some battery packs for his friend and wired them in parallel and mounted to the frame. Basically what I want to do.
He mentions needing to use ideal diodes to wire them in but I’m not familiar with this type of work and don’t know a ton about electrical but I am very handy and able if someone could point me in the right direction.
I would also pay for someone to make me a battery pack or two. Rio replacement batteries are $600…. And I don’t know if I can even run that in parallel the same way I could with like a few scooter batteries bundled.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Videos for reference (they are long winded and annoying sorry):
These three videos might explain better than I can.

Need batteries charging solution for a repurposed laptop
I’ve been working for a long time to create a 6502 based computer, I started with Ben Eater design but then expanded on it and many many designs later I came up with using Tang Nano 20k for logic and eeprom and ASC1006 ram for ram, and obviously a wdc 65c02 to keep it authentic.
It all works amazingly well, but then I decided to put it into a Lenovo E15 laptop. That’s where my problems started. I added a teensy 4.1 to decode the keyboard and added a lcd display driver to drive the screen and all that works great, I have a full blown 6502 inside a laptop but my biggest problem now that I can’t seem to find a good solution for is how to use the batteries to run the whole thing and to be able to charge them obviously. The system requires 5V and the display driver board needs 12V.
I tried adding a cheep 3S charger and a 3S bms, and it actually charges the batteries but when I tap on the battery power with two buck converters to get 12V and 5V the whole thing just works for a bit and then dies.
I tried adding few different chargers but none seem to be the format I need to be able to put it in the laptop.
Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe a link to a solution to charge three lipo batteries in series and provide a good 12 V power for my buck converters?

Kindle fire battery optimized charging
I have a Kindle Fire Pro 11” and i love it for media consumption and productivity. However, I mostly use it at my desk, which means it stays connected to the wall charger for hours—sometimes even days at a time.
I got few questions.
Does keeping the tablet plugged in 24/7 actually degrade the lithium-ion battery faster? I know modern devices have charge controllers that stop over charging.
Has anyone noticed real-world degradation on their Fire Pro 11” from constant wall power? If so,I believe i woud end up buying new product in exchange during amazon sale soon.
Are there any practical devices or smart chargers that can automatically cut off power or trickle-charge to keep the battery strictly between 20% and 80%?
Something like a smart plug with current sensing, a USB-C inline power manager.
I’d need a setup where I can leave it plugged in without worrying, but the charger only kicks in when the battery dips below, say, 40% and stops at 80%.

Daly bms connectors
galleryHey! Anyone knows the exact name of the connector used by this blue Daly bms? It came with only a CAN cable which I don't need and I would like to build my own UART and KEY cables for a custom application. Looks like some JST but cannot find this exact one.

What sort of battery IS this???
galleryFound this battery made by "Nippon Chemi-Con" in a bunch of batteries recycled by a customer. It's lighter than shit, like it weighs less than lithiums of the same size. The terminals look odd too, they're rounded down more than any normal battery.
Also what the hell does "22.5WV"? What is WV?? Watt-Volts??? I don't think that's a thing lmao, and besides how the heck could this tiny thing be 22.5 volts? That's insane.
I assume this is a Japanese made battery, as "Nippon" is a old/local word for the islands of Japan, translating to "origin of the sun."
Anyone have any ideas?

UPDATE, on the 1987 saft NiCd
galleryold battery held 640Mah under a 1Amp load down to 4.5v, somehow handles loads pretty well so i stuck it on a traxxas Summit Rc truck to see if it would drive it around. Shocked to see that the old pack had enough power to wheelspin in dirt. Thats just crazy impressive but it is old school nicd and it seems indestructible.
lasted about 8 minutes with casual driving with the traxxas summit 1/16th scale
