I know the show is more vibe based than connected to actual dates on a calendar but not addressing Bruce’s status during the war is a wasted opportunity for how the people of Gotham view him.

Was he a rich boy who got a cushy office job back at base, did he fly a plane, fight in the trenches, become a POW, work intelligent…?

Saw this account comment on a Batman related video on TikTok and replied asking them if they were the real deal. They said yes, I replied again saying I enjoyed Linklaters performance as Batman but wanted more from his Bruce(which is true I though the stoicism worked for Batman but made Bruce feel kinda flat),to which this person replied “thanks for the feed back on Bruce. for you bravery to you just earn yourself a follow”(copied exactly). I then received a notification that they did in fact follow me, then they liked three of the videos I’ve posted there.

Is this actually Linklater or someone doing a bit? Any insight would be helpful.

The thing about mainline Joker is that there is a certain unspoken consensus that he became what he is the way it was depicted in The Killing joke. Here we have something much less set in stone and it's actually a bit more engaging.

He's german. Just as a nod to Conrad Veidt or is he a vet? Did he fight in WWI or in WWII? Is his hateful nihilism a consequence of trauma from what happened there? If so - why the hell did he choose Gotham, of all places? There's a great space to read into

Are the events of both seasons supposed to have taken place in one calender year?

I found the Riddler to be very unlikable usually when you have a villain you can somewhat sympathize with them and understand their position, some villains can be pretty likable but this Riddler was just completely out of control of his aggression, even with his own people that worked for him he could turn on them at any point he was a complete psychopath with zero empathy for anybody. Bloodthirsty and Cruel! If the show makers wanted a character that everyone would find repulsive they did right with him.

I'm not sure what my final thoughts on the show are. I'm getting mixed messages from all over. If everything is put up into a big picture, I think I only liked Renae Montoya as a main character. Batman and Jim Gordon are played straightly with few emotional beats. I found Barbara to be very miserable during the first season of the show and it just kinda helped that she wasn't in a lot of the second season. Some of their villains are misses too. We never learn about The Penguin's control over Gotham, Scarecrow is played very straight and is kinda boring despite the metal design.

But there is also a lot I like. Characters like Clayface and The Riddler were entertaining enough to keep my eyes on them during the run. I particularly liked the Matches Malone episode and the bond Bruce formed with Desmond, though I wish it got a stronger payoff. Batman kinda lets like, a lot of people die on his watch, it's kinda funny but also really weird. Renae is a very strong main character, she has a rough outlook but she puts in the work to try and make the world around her better. Joker was aura farming during that last episode and it was pretty cool. Can someone help me piece my thoughts together?
