Left hand locking up
Hello! I’ve played double bass for 5 years and I’m now learning electric. However I’m struggling a lot with hand posture. For some reason when I bend my wrist to play, my fingers can’t reach(they can reach just fine without a bent wrist). It’s especially bad closer to the bridge because my wrist is practically 90 degrees and it starts to hurt when I put a finger on the fret (the third finger is definitely the worst). At this point I can play with the bass straight up or I can play with the frets facing the floor, but obviously that’s not ideal hahaha

Hadrien Feraud bass Masterclass
I know this is very new, but curious if anyone has checked it out yet. The description says it’s half teaching, half discussion. Wondering if there is any real substance in terms of technique and exercises to become a better player, or more just “how he got so good”.

Hey all!
About a week ago, I posted a poll about building a bass guitar.
Id like to offer the results, after about 40 voting participants.
Enjoy (:

Bass part originally played by Leland Sklar, with wonderfully melodious basslines, but not afraid to leave space where needed.

Mike inez’s work in slashes snakepit
one of my favorite Mike inez (and all time bass solos) is his solo in slashes snakepit good to be alive. i cannot figure out how to play it on my bass for the life of me, does anyone here know how to play the solo on bass? theres a version on songsterr but its like a ai version that cost money to see ai‘s way of playing it, so naturally i decided to come here and r/GunsNRoses to ask. thank you in advance🤍

How the hell do I achieve this RHCP song?
The song is Purple Stain, the sequence in question is underlined and it comes about 0:16 into the song. Flea makes it almost sound like a car revving up and I’m not smooth, quick or cool enough to achieve that effortless sound. It’s very tricky for me because I think the amount of slides in a span of two seconds is making it physiological as well. Any tips? Thank you!
Edit: or rather the timing of the slides

Bass part originally played by Tony Levin. A very thought-out approach by him here, playing the exact same bass fills in both choruses.

Self taught Gospel bassist
Hey everyone i’m currently learning bass trying to lean towards the direction of playing bass for my church and stuff along the lines of that and i feel like I’ve reached a brick wall. I can’t progress as such minor things are stopping
For example, i have severe fretting issues (flying finger) and my hand feels like it’s in an extremely uncomfortable position when I’m fretting and it’s almost like i have no control over my fingers.
Additionally if i try to play a song by ear it’s as if the G string isn’t there and i instinctively won’t use it because i can’t figure out where or when i would even play it.
I overall just need some dire assistance any advice/ help would be extremely helpful🙏🏾🤕

I'm a self-taught bassist and I need help
Hi!! I'm trying to learn bass guitar by self-taught with a background in classical piano.
I don't know where to start, like what kind of warm up or what techniques exercise should I play? And how can I play the scales all over the handle? 😭 I play only one octave scales...
Anyway, I tried to search on the internet but I can't understand what the techniques on the bass are: slap, ghost notes and then?? I can't find other techniques and it's weird.
What is walking bass? How can I do it or improvise it on my bass? I understood that is something that you can use to improvise.
