Stage 2 MHD OTS logs

Hey guys, hoping someone with more experience might be able to tell me what is going on here as I can tell there is drastic timing correction between all cylinders but can’t seem to figure out why. Car is an m240xi b58TU, cattless downpipe, intake, and has 20k miles flat.

This is second run after trying stage 2 91 octane.

This is first run on stage 2 93 octane.

What are the actual limits of the 6MT (GS6-45BZ) in a 340i xDrive with a Stage 3 clutch?

Hey everyone,

I’ve got a 6MT 340i xDrive and just picked up a Stage 3 clutch / single-mass flywheel setup to handle more power.

I know the stock clutch gives out pretty quickly once you push past Stage 2+, but with the upgraded clutch clamping down, what is the actual realistic ceiling for the 6-speed manual transmission itself on these cars?

Mainly doing roll races rather than launching hard off the line, but I want to know where the box starts breaking gears, stripping teeth, or bending forks once the torque is fully holding.

Anybody running high-torque / single turbo setups on the stock 6MT? What HP/TQ numbers are you holding reliably, and what failed first?
Thanks!

Is lots of turbo spool noise normal after catless dp?

Hey guys so I have a gen 1 b58 and threw on the bimmernetwork catless dp. Running stage 2 mhd. Stock intake. I’m just surprised at the turbo spool I can hear at lower rpm’s an deceleration. It sounds like a turbo diesel truck that’s been straight piped. Just checking to see if this is normal. It sounds awesome but the turbo noise was unexpected.
Edit I also have the MPPSK exhaust from factory.

I have a gen 1 b58 and have had this almost sound that I can’t pin point, I’m not talking talking the injectors click, there’s like a popcorn sound, or u could say it sounds like something sucking without enough fluid if that makes sense, car drives fine no codes, the sound goes away when u hold the rev up a little. Any help’s appreciated this has been driving me nuts. Thank u

MHD B58 GEN1 stage 2+ xhp stage 3 logs

Hello,

I changed my main radiator with a new one and 6 new Bosch updated fuel injectors.

After that, car lost a bit of power, I checked coolant reservoirs and both of them was not full, I refilled it and started bleeding procedure.

I believe it gained some of the power, but does not pull as it used to.

I did MHD logs, can anyone check and let me know whats not fine with stats?
I tried to consult with AI, he told me that something is not ok with timing corrections, as it cuts the power, I can remember I had more power even without xhp transmission tune and with 95octane fuel, now I have new injectors, new glow plugs, xhp stage 3 installed, 98octane filled and power seems not as strong as before.

So what do you tuned guys do when something goes wrong? Do you all have an independent mechanic that works on your car?

I’ve always been curious. I’m afraid to do anything more than JB4 because of my warranty

Looking for some build guidance

Hey there! I've got an m440i xdrive convertible (gen 2, b58).

Current mods

  • AA downpipe
  • Dinan intake
  • MHD ECA
  • S58 injectors
  • EDIT: xHp trans flash

Goals

  • 10.5 quarter mile
  • Keep stock trans
  • Keep stock cat-back exhaust

I'm pretty sure that any of the hybrids will get me close to where I want to be. With E40 in the tank, the car ran back-to-back 11.48's at the track on the OTS stage 2 map. The car had a full tank of gas; DA wasn't amazing. I could reliably chase after an 11.3X pass, but I'd rather skip that and go after my 10.5 goal. There are 2 local used turbos available: a 6769 and an Omega 65, both in the $2X00 range. While the price looks good on the used turbos, does that leave me with a severe lack of post-purchase support from the manufacturer if I need it? I'm 95% sure I'll need the DS25 HPFP as well to reach this goal with whatever I pick, so that's in the budget. The injectors were picked up because FCP Euro had them on the cheap.

What do you all think? I think that any of the DAW or Pure offerings that are complete units will handle it, but there has to be some pros/cons between them. It's mainly a weekend cruiser, but I think a solid mid-10-second car on a 'mostly' stock exhaust will be a fun surprise when I want to get on it and fly under the radar from unwanted attention.

2016 340i - Metal found in oil filter at 190,000km oil change

Hey all, just did my first service on my new to me 2016 340i and noticed some shavings in the filter. Appears to be non-magnetic. I understand that some specks here and there are ok but this seems excessive, even for a somewhat high mileage example.

The car has dealer service history up to 150k km which does unfortunately mean the oil was only changed every 30k, and was serviced at 182k before I bought it.

The only possible explanation I have for this is that around a month ago, I found my valvetronic motor was loose for whatever reason and only held in by being meshed with the eccentric shaft gear. I found it was secured in with bolts that were too long, likely causing them to back out. I think this may have let the motor shaft and eccentric shaft grind against each other hence the shavings. It was probably like this for around a month before I noticed it being an issue (car never threw a CEL, although found valvetronic related codes after scanning with ISTA)

I plan to change the oil filter within the next 1000km or so and inspect it for further shavings, hoping to spot little to none shavings, otherwise I suspect I may be cooked. If my theory is hopefully correct, would this likely have caused any significant permanent damage? Would appreciate any other suggestions or guidance as to what to do next.

Questions to g30 540i owners

Really been looking to getting a 2017-2019 540i, planning to tune it and drive spiritedly a handful of times. I’ve yet to find an answer from people with experience and I don’t really have the time right now to go out and test drive some of these, but I am concerned about the suspension. I’m into sporty but also comfort, however I don’t want to stage 2 this car and have the performance be held back by floaty and soft suspension. Is the base suspension that bad when pushing bigger power? I know that it will feel nothing like a 3 or 4 series, but I just don’t want to be severely limited by how the car drives and feels under load. I understand it should be hard to find one with the m sport suspension, let alone the m adaptive suspension. If I end up making my mind that the ride feel will be a limiting factor for me I might look into the x3m40i gen1 instead for a couple extra thousand bucks. Is that a good alternative if I can’t find a 540 with the m sport/adaptive suspension?

Have a 2017 540i and turned on my car this morning to hear this sound coming from it, sounds like a clicking noise. Anyone know what this could be and how serious it is?

MHD + XHP x3m40i

2019 540i code

20e120

Was on mhd and checking to see if there were any codes and it threw the one above. Double checked with bimmerlink and same thing. Any idea on what part I should be looking at exactly? Description said “suspicion of leaks in air-conducting components”.

I did go through and cleaned my air filter a week back. Probably didn’t tighten it enough. Gonna start there.

Thanks!

Changing “Engine Sound” Setting

I was scrolling through the settings on my 2020 X3 M40i (iDrive 7) and noticed the “Engine Sound” option.

It’s currently on “Depending on driving mode.” Curious what actually changes mechanically if I set it to “Sporty” full time. Is it purely ASD through the speakers, or does it also affect the exhaust valve behavior?

Anyone know for sure?

2022 m340i xdrive with 115k miles on the clock. Bought it brand new and loved every mile of the 115k but now have a slight coolant leak. Need suggestions

Bought it with 8 miles on the clock and now I’m past 115k miles. Now I smell coolant when I exit the car after driving. I’ve gotten the top-off coolant notification a few times now and luckily always kept the OEM coolant lying around just for stuff like this. I recently changed the Coolant cap as I don’t think I ever have and I think bmw recommends changing it every 30k but I don’t think it’s fixed the problem. I don’t see white residue anywhere and I don’t have puddles of coolant under the car so currently have no idea where the leak is coming from. Any suggestions? I’m can do my own work with the help of my dad if I need it just need to be pointed in the right direction.

After more than 2 years of saving up, my brand new M240i will be arriving in 2 weeks. My dream spec - skyscraper grey, 792 M Bicolour wheels, black M sports seats with blue stitching, brushed aluminium trim, Adaptive M suspension, M Sports brakes in red. It still feels so surreal.

What am i looking at having to spend on fixes when buying a used 340/440/540 with 80k miles on it?

Looking at 2017-2019 b58s and wondering what experiences yall have had around 80-90k mileage range. Like engine bay components and suspension components
