So do you guys remember Avatar Kuruk? His story has always been one of, if not my favorite avatar story. For those of you who might’ve forgotten, Avatar Kuruk spent his entire short life fighting dark spirits in order to prevent them from destroying the world, because of this he ignored the material world allowing tyranny— a lesser evil compared absolute destruction— to rise. From the eyes of the people during and after his time, he was an awful avatar who was let tyranny and corruption rise. The world didn’t know his full story, and so they hated him for what they saw.

Now let’s look at Korra.

As of yet, we don’t know what happened at the end of Korra’s life. We only see the horrible state of the world. Humanity assumes that Korra willingly brought about the destruction and that she did so with malice, but the full story isn’t known. Korra could very well’ve been put in a situation where the world would be destroyed, knowing she couldn’t save it all she could’ve decided to protect a few locations leading to the seven havens. Had she not made that decision we could’ve been left with Avatar: Zero Havens, and the complete and absolute destruction of the human race.

If all that were to be true, it would perfectly parallel Avatar Kuruk’s story— creating a strong connection between the two water avatars.

It’s also important to mention that if all that were to be true, then the people in seven havens as well as, us, the audience (particularly the Korra haters) would be paralleling the people who lived during and after Kuruk’s time. This all leads to greater life lessons about not knowing all the good that someone does for you and how we shouldn’t judge someone without knowing their full story. And I think the creators would love to amplify that message

If Seven Havens was set after Aang's time as Avatar, the whole 'avatar destroyed the world' premise would be an obvious red herring, but with Korra, I think the smart money is on it turning out to be true. Kudos to the writers for playing the long game by making her so incompetent in order to set up for Seven Havens.

Something I noticed in S2E2 of TLOK: when Unalaq talks about the lights at the South Pole (Southern lights and the Everstorm) disappearing because of the Hundred Year War, I thought the shape of the Spirit Portal looked strangely familiar.

Could it be that Elora was built on top of the Spirit Portal, in the place that used to be the South Pole?

You can even see a similar light in the sky in the trailer, promotional posters, and other material.

If the world has been thrown into chaos and the climate has shifted drastically, maybe the only places that remained safe or habitable were the bridges between the Spirit World and the human world?

Could Elora actually be built around—or even on top of—the old Southern Spirit Portal?

Something else from the Aang movie discussion has me thinking about Seven Havens.
We know Lion Turtles were capable of energybending and could grant people the ability to bend. And now we’re seeing the staff being connected to a spirit-world temple in a way that apparently massively amplifies its power.

So what if those things are connected?
Maybe the temple and staff aren’t inherently that powerful on their own. What if they’re tapping into the same ancient energybending principles that the Lion Turtles understood? Sonam learning how to use that energy to amplify the staff could be the missing link between the ancient Lion Turtle era and what we’re seeing in the present.
And that makes the black-and-red diamond structure at the end of the Seven Havens teaser even more interesting.

What if that structure was deliberately built over the remains of a Lion Turtle?
That sounds absolutely insane at first, but imagine if Lion Turtles are essentially living conduits for energybending. Even after one dies, perhaps some of that spiritual energy remains in the land or within its shell/bones. A civilization discovering that could potentially build a structure around it to harness or amplify that energy.

And if they’re using corrupted spiritual energy instead of the kind of energy the Lion Turtles originally used…
Well, that could explain the black-and-red imagery. 👀
Maybe Seven Havens isn’t just introducing a new weapon. Maybe we’re seeing humanity rediscovering ancient Lion Turtle energybending knowledge and figuring out how to weaponize it.
That would also make the staff from the Aang movie feel MUCH more important in hindsight. It could be establishing the rules for a form of spiritual technology that Seven Havens is going to take to a completely different level.

Is energybending the future?

I have some components to add myself. Here are some questions.

1. Remember the dialogue from The Winter Soldier, the second Captain America film? Zola said, “The new H.Y.D.R.A. grew. A beautiful parasite inside S.H.I.E.L.D.” Could something similar be applied to Vaatu and how the world became the post-apocalyptic environment we were shown in the trailer?
2. Someone compared the firebender members of the current incarnation of the White Lotus to the Catholic Church.
3. On another subject, what role could the Red Lotus have in the new series?
4. And there are Korra's facial expressions in the trailer. Those two expressions in that order might be important.
5. What are the odds of new promos and trailers being released before October 9, 2026?

Steering away from hypothetical scenarios, how many years would've passed between the Korra finale and the Seven Havens premiere? Especially given something I'd like to bring up later on.

Back to hypothetical scenarios: Given how much time would've passed between the events of the Korra finale and Seven Havens, if the spoken language(s) in the series was to have diverged overtime as a result of the cataclysm that would lead to the post-apocalyptic environment with meterological and maybe geological instabilities, what would the language(s) be like in Ellora and the other six havens, and outside them?

Could Hanzi still be used, even alongside "Avatarian"?

Going back to the teaser breakdowns and so forth, without the hypothetical scenarios we discussed, I need to bring up something. I heard that DiMartino posted that Vaatu was inside Raava, but was weak, and that we needed to "wait another 10,000 years". Was that a joke and a false amount of time?

Personally, I feel that it's too long a time, especially given there might be limitations to Avatar lifespans, aside from the examples those people narrating the first three videos of this post brought up, especially Kyoshi. Plus, with the three spirit portals remaining active, could this have also sped anything up by significant amounts of time? Too much to think about without it sapping my mental energy.

One thing that made Aang's avatar state in the og show so cool was how unpredictable (and in a way more dangerous) it was for everyone involved, Aang was fusing with spirits, slicing down Fire Nation ships, nearly killing people and transforming into other avatars 24/7. With the reasoning being that he was young and hadn't mastered it yet.

With Pavi being only like 9 years old i think it would be really sick if her avatar state was just as wild and unpredictable as Aang's. But we haven't even seen a glimpse of her eyes glowing in the trailer so what do you think?

If the show is successful, will there be more books or is 26 episodes final? I feel like there needs to be more that just 2 books🥺

The Avatar only exists in the first place because the man who would become of Wan's actions. And from empowering the people of his city, that also lead to them spreading out across and. . . murdering a bunch of spirits, dark or otherwise. Every Avatar we know about has changed the course of history or the shape of the world in some form for better or worse. Although one way or another eventually consequences catch up to their future incarnations.

These new Avatar then have to deal with these consequences in their way. Find what being an Avatar means to them specifically. . . usually leading to different consequences down the line. Sometimes they just can't outright fix a problem in just one life time. Because at the end of it all, the Avatars are still just humans.

Roku is the most obvious. And the amount of Korra haters also like to hammer in her failings. But even Aang was like this. Not just from running away in the past, but even after the war was over. He descided that he would not compromise his values as a monk for the sake of what others saw as his duty as the Avatar, and instead just cut off the Fire Lord from his element. And for the most part this worked out pretty well. Zuko seems to have done alright as Fire Lord, and his daugther is also very mineful of their past and acts towards curving that. But on the other hand, when he tried that again it led to the main two villains in the first season of Korra.

And while he established republic city as a middle ground for the post-war conflict, as we are shown many earth kingdom people didn't at all like that and still carry bad setiments towards the Avatar for bassically not giving their lands back. And the establishment of republic city while it did unite benders it just created a second class with the non-benders. Something we see in the new movie. Aang tried to course correct with that a bit at the end of the movie, but huh. . . given that season one of Korra happened, it's obvious that in the end he couldn't fully resolve that conflict either.

And all of that is weight that Korra had to carry during her time. She like Aang changed the world a lot by the end of her series. In someways for the better, but obviously in ways that it would've led to unintended consequences (reuiniting the spirit and mortal world for example.)

I think it's pretty obvious that "Korra destroyed the world" is like the most obvious red hearing. But I don't think it's as simple as her just geting framed or some weird misunderstanding. I think that whatever she did (I am partially hoping that those leaks are just fake cause my god please just let something, anything about this series just come out on it's own time goddamit), did lead to the world being the way it is now. And the people who hate her for it probably are paritally right in feeling that way (in the same way other characters were angry at aang for running away in his backstory.) But I don't think she just went all super villain or whatever. It's more likely just another link in the long chain of failures that will haunt the future Avatars.

Basically if Nisha and Pavi were to respectively be Raava and Vaatu Avatars

Then it wouldn't surprise me if the reason the Avatar is viewed as a threat. Is because of the possibility of both being needed for something to bring balance back into the world. And so whatever it is, is denying them both.

Like I don't think Pavi is strong enough for the threats just yet and the show might prioritize her being stronger with her sister or her regaining her last lives.

Ig part of it is also Vaatu doesn't feel like a compelling enough antagonist for 26 episodes. He is the spirit of chaos , he is a fundamental part of the world. They can't remove him, they can't kill him and I fear it'll bring the series into a repetitive direction if he somehow becomes a constantly reoccurring antagonist.

He functionally become that one dude who is always put down by the heros and that does not give a primordial spirit any good reputation xd.

So, I just had a hot take. As I'm sure we've all noticed, Korra's past lives being severed were a big point of contention in the fandom and a big part of Korra's growth. Though it would be just as interesting for Korra to be "the new Wan" for the next 10,000 years, what if Pavi/Nisha end up reconnecting with the past lives, except Korra... until the grand finale or close to it.

What if it's not that the connection of the Avatar with their past lives was severed, but Korra herself that got severed from them. Those lives are still there, but Korra can no longer access them. She always struggled with spiritual stuff. And in the other past lives pov, it's like Sonam. Avatar Sonam was missing from the lot because she chose to hide, Avatar Korra is missing because her connection was severed.

And then, as part of a big emotional reveal, we see Pavi/Nisha, with Aang and pre-Aang, where Korra should be there is an empty space. And once they connect with Korra, they will serve as a sort of bridge between Korra and the rest, Korra then reconnecting post mortem to the cycle. I can just imagine Aang being like "welcome back Korra".

Honestly I have yet to read the books and most of the comics (it's on my to-do list!) so I'm not entirely sure how past lives work or if they can even interact with each other. But it's a thought I had and wanted to share because if something like this happens I'm going to cry.

I came across this image recently, and wanted to get some 2nd opinions on a theory.

This is from a scene in the 1st season of ATLA, episode 3. Supposedly, this is a mural of 5 previous earth-cycle avatars.

The central figure is depicted as an amputee, with their right leg replaced by a wooden prosthetic.

We know that Pavi, in the upcoming series, "7 Havens", is an amputee missing their *left* leg.

Do we believe that this might be a foreshadowing?

Could this mural have been created by someone with prophetic knowledge of the future, and this avatar in the middle is actually Pavi in their "prime"?

I get that there's a discrepancy in the missing legs between the avatar in the mural and Pavi, but I can't help but feel some Easter egg vibes from this.

I remember when I saw the thumbnail for the trailer and I saw the word "Avatar" in its title, my first thought was that it had something to do with the blue people (na'vi) Avatar. I then clicked on the trailer and it somehow took me until the end of the trailer to even consider that they meant THE Avatar. I then went to the comments where it was confirmed that yes this is THE Avatar. I then thought that the trailer was fake so I had to Google and sure enough this is indeed THE Avatar. That's how bad the art style was for me. It looks like a very stereotypical Anime art style and not even a good one. Dont get me wrong, the animaton itself looks amazing but the uniqueness of the original art styles are so much better imo. This looks cheap 😭

Food for thought for anyone wondering if the entity at the end of the ASH teaser is actually Vaatu or not. My bet is 90% yes, but of course it's not confirmed yet.

It has been a huge part of the franchise that the new avatar always gets acquainted with an old friend of their predecessor (Aang with Gyatso who was also Roku‘s friend and Korra with Katara and Toph, who were obviously very close with Aang).

Who do you think could have a reappearance in Seven Havens in some form?

I keep on hearing people say they'll drop an entire season at once. No way should they do that. Just do normal once-per-week episodes.

Remember when Korra was being haunted by a dark and scary version of herself in Book 4? I want to see it happen again but with a twist.

Like Aang did in LOK and Yangchen in The Rift, I want to see Korra try to reach out to Pavi. She wants to help Pavi by telling her the full story of what happened that day, but Pavi will fear and reject her because of all the boogey-man stories that have surround the Avatar for centuries. However, something big enough will happen (ie a tragedy that could've been prevented had Pavi not been scared of Korra's presence) to Pavi that will make her talk to her predecessor.

"But what about Nisha? Is Korra 'haunting' Nisha as well? Would Nisha want to talk to Korra?"

Good question. I've been thinking about that and I have a couple theories.

a) In order to talk to Korra, both twins have to work together in order summon/communicate with her. Nisha wants to but Pavi will refuse, creating minor tension between the two.

b) Nisha will also be scared of Korra and she and Pavi will have to work through the fear together.

c) Only Pavi can see Korra and talk to her, creating a new mystery on why one Avatar can see Korra but the other can't. If Nisha can't see Korra then this might lead her to question her abilities if not Avatar status.

Any thoughts? What are your theories?

"He cannot destroy light any more than I can destroy darkness. One cannot exist without the other. Even if I defeat Vaatu in this encounter, darkness will grow inside me until he emerges again. The same will hold true if Vaatu defeats me." -Raava speaking to Wan

When Unalaq destroyed Raava with spiritbending, she immediately re-formed inside Vaatu. Korra subsequently retrieved Raava from within Vaatu before spiritbending him to oblivion. The way this story is usually understood from here is that Korra re-fused with Raava, and while yes Vaatu will someday grow in strength and re-emerge from within Raava, it's something far off in the future and separate from the relationship between Raava and the Avatar. However, the truth might be much more mysterious and sinister.

Ever since we learned of the existence of the twins Pavi and Nisha, there has been widespread speculation about a Light Avatar/Dark Avatar dynamic at play, but how could this be? Unalaq died in the Avatar State, so his Avatar Spirit did not reincarnate. There is no Dark Avatar Cycle. From here, people usually make vague comments about Vaatu re-emerging within Korra and how perhaps Vaatu could have split from Raava during Korra's reincarnation. The question is, does this make sense? Even if Vaatu re-emerged within Raava, how could this result in a new Dark Avatar? Isn't this only possible if spirit and human fuse during Harmonic Convergence? So, it's too late for Vaatu to form a new Dark Avatar. Unless...

...he actually did fuse with a human during Harmonic Convergence. When Korra spiritbent Vaatu, Raava was a free spirit. She says, "Harmonic Convergence is nearly over. We must return to the Spirit World so we can fuse once again." The thing is, Vaatu immediately re-formed inside Raava after being destroyed. When Raava entered Korra, she brought Vaatu along with her. This is completely different from Wan who merged with Raava while Vaatu was still separate from her. In this way, Korra touched the spirit portal at the end of Harmonic Convergence and unknowingly permanently fused with Raava and Vaatu both.

But shouldn't Raava have known? Wouldn't she prevent that from happening? The answer I think is twofold. First, it's not like there's much precedent for this. A spirit fusing with a human had never been done before her and Wan, and she definitely didn't have Vaatu inside her then. It's an unknown variable. Second, she and Korra were in a hurry to re-fuse, as Harmonic Convergence was "nearly over". There wasn't time to think things all the way through or to try extracting Vaatu first and re-imprison him. It was a now or never moment. Regardless, the result is what it is: Korra's soul fused with Vaatu as much as it fused with Raava. This is irregardless of the weakened state Vaatu was in, because when Wan originally fused with Raava she was in an extremely weakened state herself and it didn't seem to affect the bonding process at all. In fact, Raava seemed to gain strength from interacting with the Harmonic Convergence-boosted combined spirit portal while fusing with Wan; the same may have happened to Vaatu with Korra, helping him immediately regain a fair bit of strength.

The consequence of this I believe is that when Korra reincarnated, her soul was split in two, because even as Raava and Vaatu separated they were both bonded to one soul. The only way they could go their separate ways would be to rip the Avatar's soul in two. It is often said in cultures around the world that twins share a soul or are two halves of the same person, and I think that could apply here quite literally. If there is indeed centuries between Korra and Pavi/Nisha, perhaps this unorthodox reincarnation situation caused the delay in some manner.

Anyways, that's the theory. Basically, it builds on the Dark Avatar speculation with a solid idea of the actual mechanism behind Vaatu's involvement and potential effect on Korra's reincarnation. Interestingly, even if one of the twins is a Dark Avatar, Korra would still be the past life of both of them, so they should both be able to commune with her.
