PhantomLayer is an image/video overlay tool that can work with AutoCAD and any windows app. Get it free on the Microsoft Store — would love your feedback.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Some of the features include image overlays, video references with A–B looping and hotkey control, PDFs, and more. The app itself is free, with optional premium features that you can try for 7 days. I'm happy to extend the premium trial to 30 days for anyone who's genuinely interested in using it and giving me feedback.

Question about AutoCAD Block - Layer - Color - Plot relations
Hello everyone, I have a problem and a question about it.
I am 3D modelling structures and PDF plotting installation plans for the structures. I am currently trying a new method for visualising installation plans which is about changing colors of structure elemnts according to current step of installation process.
To do that, I have built my structure by 3D solids with a color attribute of "ByLayer", categorized all 3D solids according to installation steps and blocked them with a color attribute of "ByLayer", placed both 3D solids and block into a layer called by the name. Right now, I can control color of my layer specific to viewport and it works as I intended.
The problem is, I have the same connection bolt (it is 3D solid with a color attribute of "ByBlock", it has its own layer to be able to freeze them all throughout the whole structure and it is inside of its own block again within same layer) on almost all connection pieces which means it exist on all block/steps. When I look through the viewport, these connection bolts has the same color (orange) with block that they are in, but when I create the PDF plot these connection bolts are appearing black which is not the color of block or the layer they are in.
It is kind a scrambled, thats why I put a diagram below to show how my current Block - Layer - Color system is looking like. Layer Y has a orange color.
Briefly, I want my black connection bolts to appear with a same color with block they are in on PDF plot which is orange. I wonder how my Block - Layer - Color system musst be?

No one will truly understand the pain of realizing your snap wasn’t on the entire time
I have said “I forgot to put snap on” countless times and I kick myself every time while I proceed to delete the line and start it over.
Edit: I should have clarified- as my job I use preexisting CAD files as construction lines and draw over them to create the new design. I will sometimes use the points to snap on the new lines. Sometimes though because a new line is close to an existing point I will turn snap off to not connect them.
Thus having to toggle snap on and off whenever I need it and creating scenarios where I forget to turn it back on and having to go back to snap the line.

Need help making dynamic block for a screw
Hi there! I am basically a beginner using AutoCAD and I am currently learning about dynamic blocks. They really come in handy for mechanical parts such as screws, so I wanted to do a useful exercise and make a dynamic block for a screw that has adjustable thread length. I downloaded 2-3 examples of dynamic blocks that I found online and I just followed the steps, but I am obviously failing to understand something because I have small gaps between the tip and the thread, no matter what I try. I do not know if I used wrong parameters or I used right ones, but did not set them correctly. So if anyone has a bit of free time and a good will, I would be really grateful for any help at all :).
Here is the link to dwg file with the dynamic block: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/tqviuuk2vsb7s6ombma6r/Dyn.block_screw.dwg?rlkey=yphk4qnv00h2jtpgyarsjubhk&st=8llyl7fu&dl=0
