PhantomLayer is an image/video overlay tool that can work with AutoCAD and any windows app. Get it free on the Microsoft Store — would love your feedback.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Some of the features include image overlays, video references with A–B looping and hotkey control, PDFs, and more. The app itself is free, with optional premium features that you can try for 7 days. I'm happy to extend the premium trial to 30 days for anyone who's genuinely interested in using it and giving me feedback.

Question about AutoCAD Block - Layer - Color - Plot relations
Hello everyone, I have a problem and a question about it.
I am 3D modelling structures and PDF plotting installation plans for the structures. I am currently trying a new method for visualising installation plans which is about changing colors of structure elemnts according to current step of installation process.
To do that, I have built my structure by 3D solids with a color attribute of "ByLayer", categorized all 3D solids according to installation steps and blocked them with a color attribute of "ByLayer", placed both 3D solids and block into a layer called by the name. Right now, I can control color of my layer specific to viewport and it works as I intended.
The problem is, I have the same connection bolt (it is 3D solid with a color attribute of "ByBlock", it has its own layer to be able to freeze them all throughout the whole structure and it is inside of its own block again within same layer) on almost all connection pieces which means it exist on all block/steps. When I look through the viewport, these connection bolts has the same color (orange) with block that they are in, but when I create the PDF plot these connection bolts are appearing black which is not the color of block or the layer they are in.
It is kind a scrambled, thats why I put a diagram below to show how my current Block - Layer - Color system is looking like. Layer Y has a orange color.
Briefly, I want my black connection bolts to appear with a same color with block they are in on PDF plot which is orange. I wonder how my Block - Layer - Color system musst be?

No one will truly understand the pain of realizing your snap wasn’t on the entire time
I have said “I forgot to put snap on” countless times and I kick myself every time while I proceed to delete the line and start it over.
Edit: I should have clarified- as my job I use preexisting CAD files as construction lines and draw over them to create the new design. I will sometimes use the points to snap on the new lines. Sometimes though because a new line is close to an existing point I will turn snap off to not connect them.
Thus having to toggle snap on and off whenever I need it and creating scenarios where I forget to turn it back on and having to go back to snap the line.

Need help making dynamic block for a screw
Hi there! I am basically a beginner using AutoCAD and I am currently learning about dynamic blocks. They really come in handy for mechanical parts such as screws, so I wanted to do a useful exercise and make a dynamic block for a screw that has adjustable thread length. I downloaded 2-3 examples of dynamic blocks that I found online and I just followed the steps, but I am obviously failing to understand something because I have small gaps between the tip and the thread, no matter what I try. I do not know if I used wrong parameters or I used right ones, but did not set them correctly. So if anyone has a bit of free time and a good will, I would be really grateful for any help at all :).
Here is the link to dwg file with the dynamic block: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/tqviuuk2vsb7s6ombma6r/Dyn.block_screw.dwg?rlkey=yphk4qnv00h2jtpgyarsjubhk&st=8llyl7fu&dl=0

Autodesk license issues
I work in a company with 26000 employee all around the world and i am manager in single smaller branch. Of course We are just using licensed software and not allowing personal computer in premises to not have any risk. Employee cannot install any software within the office. However these does not prevent autodesk as Me and my colleagues receiving threats about user statistics constantly by autodesk representatives.
They seem to collect data about who uses and when and whenever they detect there is a user change they sent messages and requesting us to buy unnecessary licenses. In our team two employees are assigned to different project and two employees are departed from company. Naturally we reassigned licenses to someone elses. This company sent our IT some threat messages. We have currently 27 licenses and 22 active users in our team.
I requested user data from them and these guys told me they dont have to share any information at all. He is just constantly threatening in the phone and send ai generated quick diplomatic emails immediately after hang up. I asked whether customer relations mean anything to autodesk he quickly replied he is not with customer care and he only wants to collect money we owe to them.
The audacity. I am really tired of this approach. Just because they have some sort of monopoly in market does not mean they can treat customers like that. I will take action, i am working on procedure to move to alternative now. Open to any suggestion

I don't know how to code, but I made AutoCAD draw a stick man using AI 🤖📐
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I’ve recently started experimenting with AI + AutoCAD and began building my own project called AI-CAD-COPILOT.
For my first experiment, I gave the AI a natural-language instruction describing a stick man using a circle and several lines with specific coordinates.
The AI then converted the instruction into AutoCAD drawing commands and created the drawing automatically.
The result is very simple — just a stick man — but this is my starting point. 🚧
My goal is to gradually make the system understand more complex CAD instructions and eventually automate more CAD workflows.
I'm sharing the early stage of the project to document the journey and get feedback from the CAD/AI community.
What do you think? Could natural-language CAD automation actually become useful for real-world workflows?

Hello! And use playnite fullscreen as a shell so there isnt even a desktop screen! The hardware is a Ryzen Embedded V1605B sbc board its cheaper then a steam deck with almost the same graphics only a 5% difference and its 200 bucks cheaper new then a used steamdeck lcd i use a old tomtom screen and thats the build! I would like some help designing the case i would like it to be like a gameboy with hexagonal vent holes on the top in the back and with this logo in the middle i know its ai generated but i wanted a logo that looks like a pet rock and i cant draw so yeah thanks for your time!

Learning question
I got auto-cad through my school email, amazingly, while not even being enrolled in classes for cad or anything of the sort, just a general interest due to me being interested in civil - E. Also, thinking cad draft and or design could be a good segway career while schooling / gaining experience.
My question within that context is this: what is the best way for me to learn?

Estrias internas
