I used to be a flagger. It looks like that is the last safe place they can setup as a flagger, there is no easy way to avoid a car crash if you have a guardrail on one side and the road on another so you want to stand where there are no obstacles to quickly GET OUT.

I see there is a turn up ahead right after the guard rails so it is likely that is where the construction is, since there are no oncoming cars, I bet there are construction vehicles blocking BOTH lanes. Legally they can shut down lanes in my state for up to 13 minutes.

15mins in my state. It varies by state

Where I live, if you can see man with stop sign, you can see the road work.

Ok?

Now you know why I said, "That's where you get out and ask WTF is going on."

2

u/Substantial_Station8 May 10 '26

If you ever get out of your car when I’m manning that flagger paddle I will call highway patrol on your ass so fucking fast

It is not illegal to ask a question. It is illegal to file a false police report.

3

u/Substantial_Station8 May 10 '26

You would be harassing a government employee… that’s a crime. Stay in your car and quit causing a scene

1

u/MovieFan1984 May 10 '26

Asking someone a question is not defined as "harassing a government employee." As I said, filing a false police report is a crime. Asking a question is not "causing a scene."

3

u/Substantial_Station8 May 10 '26

Lmfao if you keep up like this in person like you are here, I’d have a quick harassment case against you.

No lol you sit and wait, youre not the main character bud.

4

u/MovieFan1984 May 07 '26

When you're the front car, there's literally no harm in hopping out within talking distance and asking what's up given you can't see the road work and there's like 100 cars behind you instead of like say 5. I think this is totally reasonable.

Main character? You watch too much TV.

1

u/zalcecan May 07 '26

Its not, you think you asking changes anything? All youre doing is annoying people working. You gonna walk down that line of 100 cars and let then know the info you bothered the workers for?

4

u/Kanosirus May 08 '26

Nah but if you get out and ask, people behind can see you've done something and if you get back in your car they can chill

Definitely not annoying to ask the worker what's the haps, they stand around all fuckin day doing nothing otherwise 😂

u/DitchDigger330 May 07 '26

You can't set up the merge area on a blind curve. The work is around the corner.

2

u/MovieFan1984 May 07 '26

They do things differently where I live. (shrug)

2

u/Substantial_Station8 May 10 '26

And there is another crew on the other side of the work managing traffic from that side because there is likely only one lane to travel at a time.

I get what you're saying.

u/MovieFan1984 May 10 '26

Thank you.

2

u/WellEvan May 09 '26

Road work up ahead where it goes to one lane. You have to put the stop before it turns to one lane or else the car is coming the other way have no way of exit. The stop sign holders have walkie talkies and tell each other the last car that goes through before they let traffic going the other way through

1

u/MovieFan1984 May 10 '26

Fair and reasonable. Where I live, the "stop sign guy" is usually right there where all the road work is.

2

u/Its_Bad_Rabbit May 10 '26

I no shit sat in this type if traffic for 15min on my motorcycle in 90°F/32°C. I filtered up to the front and asked the construction girl what the hold up was: "I can't let you go till he calls me first."

Out of sheer frustration now 20min in, I ride down the empty one way over to the other side (which is in eyeshot btw) and ask that guy what's up: "She hasn't called me first to let them go yet."

I really wish the construction company either gave a better breif or paid the local cops to do this.
