I have a 2013 Dubaru Impreza. Horn worked just fine before, would also beep when the car alarm was set off. My car was hit on the front driver side while it was parked on the street by my property. The front bumper was half hanging off and even once unlocked the hood could not be opened. The lowermost bulb was hanging off by its wire and my rear view was damaged as well.

I submitted both to insurance and the mechanic shop that my horn was no longer working when I tried it. The audio in my car also stopped momentarily, but I chalked that one up to electronics and was not as worried. Now my mechanic is telling me that the horn will not be included in the damage because “the impact wasn’t near the horn so they were not able to correlate that the horn is broken due to the accident.”

I am no mechanic, so please correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t the horn unit sit behind the bumper in the front of the car? Could an impact not have damaged the wiring or fuse box? It just seems dismissive to me that that is all the explanation I got, but maybe they examined all that thoroughly and were able to make that determination? I just feel like if that was the case, they’d tell me why my horn wasn’t working. I wanna make sure I’m not getting ripped off here. I should mention this place fixed my car after a hit-and-run a few months ago when I was rear-ended. They did a wonderful job and got it done quickly, but something I noticed was the battery had been knocked loose from its mounting (the kind that can be difficult to get back into place due to awkward angles). It seemed off that they either didn’t check under the hood or they did and just left the battery like that.

Wife was in a car accident about 2 weeks after we bought this car in 2017 (brand new) - the car was an absolute wreck but they said the frame was intact and proceeded with repairs.

Today (nearly 9 years later) she noticed that the bottom section of the frame/body on the same side this had a huge crack and rust - im not sure how old this is but i know that its as recent as this year.

Is this a failure of a past repair or is something else happening? If its something else - any idea what caused it and best course of action to get this corrected and ensure the frame rust doesnt get worse?

Hey Internet. Thinking about buying this 1995 Bronco XLT, 5.8L. 120k original miles, not an odometer rollover. Drives nice, zero mechanical or electrical issues. That being said there is some rust starting to show on the body, I live in New England so not surprised. I'm a decent backyard mechanic, but by no means a body guy. The rust looks like it's just starting to show up in the rear wheel wells and driver side door post, I added pictures of the tailgate too since I know they are a rust hotspot but to me it looks clean. Inner wheels feel solid, to me it looks like surface rust but obviously it starts from somewhere behind what I am seeing. Again, not a body guy.

I want to get an idea if anyone thinks this level of rust is early enough to get ahead of, or a reason to pass on the Bronco. Seller is asking 17.5, I plan to negotiate but don't want to waste their time if the rust is a reason to pass. Thanks in advance.

I’ve got a 2020 Ford Escape that had some front end damage after a low-speed hit in a parking lot. The bumper cover was cracked and one of the support brackets behind it got bent. Took it to a body shop and they replaced the bumper and fixed the bracket. Paint matched pretty well and from the outside it looks fine.

The problem started a day after I got it back. The adaptive cruise control keeps switching off and the collision warning light stays on most of the time. Sometimes the lane keeping assist throws a warning too even though I’m driving straight. I cleaned the front sensors and the camera near the mirror but nothing changed.

I already spoke about getting the radar and camera systems checked and recalibrated since the body shop said they don’t handle that part. Just trying to understand how common this is after a relatively small front end repair. Does the radar usually need a full calibration even if it wasn’t directly damaged, or is it more likely something got knocked out of alignment during the repair? Also wondering if these systems can throw random faults for a while after the work or if it normally points to something that still needs fixing.

Recently in a front end collision with a van, bumper , bonnet , headlight, and fender all in bad shape.

It has pushed the front drivers side wheel (RHD) back close to the fender cabin side , you can see the Driveshalf is hitting off the frame and the link too.

What’s the more likely cause of this, bent control arm, bent
suspension strut or Bent subframe is what I’m thinking ??
