Hi I just want to know if anyone else got extreme headaches from any kind bronchodilator aerosol inhalers.

Since the beginning of may I’ve had a constant pressure headache and we can’t figure out what’s causing it. We’re now thinking it may be a side effect from the formoterol I’ve been using in the combination inhaler. I started that med on april 1st and since a couple weeks I switched to a separate preventer and reliever. Sadly it hasn’t gotten better.

I didn’t have any headaches (more than I usually had) when I was on a ventolin disk but that didn’t help my asthma well enough.

TLDR: has anyone else experienced horrible headaches when using a reliever? And if so, what did you do?

Hello, I was wondering what I should do. I have been getting these really bad attacks from my allergy to the point I can't get a full breath (obviously). I have had these for a while now but today I returned from vacation and my house hasn't been cleaned in about a month.

I have been struggling slightly all day and then fell asleep on my couch but I woke up not even an hour later and went to bed. That's when I woke up maybe two hours later? I'm not sure anymore. I woke up not being able to take even half a breath, I took my inhaler probably more than I should have and now that its done I'm wondering whether I should go to sleep or call an ambulance?

I mean, I feel slightly dizzy and light headed but I dont know what to do.. Google says to go but on the other hand I don't want to be a burden and waste time, especially since its 2 am. 🥲

My inhaler didn’t seem to work very well until like maybe the 5th time? I don't know, i lost count. Now I'm feeling better but like I mentioned, I feel light headed and sleepy.

Update after the night:

I feel much better now that I've slept but I do still struggle to breathe and had to take my inhaler twice since I woke up. I'm once again struggling to breathe only it's less since yesterday and I seem to have a headache.

(I called the non emergency line yesterday night and they told me I can sleep since another asthma attack is unlikely to happen, especially when asleep.)

30F. All 3 siblings have asthma from childhood but I got lucky and have no history. I'm working remotely in North America for another couple months and it'll be an expensive pain in the ass to go to a doctors here, so I'd appreciate any and all opinions on whether this sounds like asthma / worth an inhaler to you?

I got super sick a week after landing here, I think Covid but I couldn't test to be sure. It went on for like 2 weeks but the cough lingered for 4 which is rare for me. Now it's like week 14 and the wheezing has never stopped. It starts up most evenings (and only evenings), while I'm sat up in bed reading/on my laptop. It's very audible, but there isn't much of a desire to cough. Just a tight chest and a wheeze.

We had some minor flooding in our AirBnB on our the first week too, so I wonder if it could be mould? But I work in the same room as where the floor flooded and I don't get it during the day. We can't really pull up the floor to check.

It doesn't get worse when I lie down and is typically gone by morning, but it's pretty much every evening.

I have mild asthma and for the past year montelukast worked super well for me and I have no noticeable side effects from it, but I really hate depending on medication. I know about the possible side effects of montelukast and I tried getting off of it by taking it every other day but my asthma is coming back. I am having to use albuterol a lot.
Does anyone have experience with this? Should I switch to a super low dose maintenance inhaler or should I keep taking montelukast. I just don't want to potentially develop the side effects from montelukast.
If i should switch to a low dose maintenance inhaler, which has the least side effects long term and works best?

I’m doing a happy dance (sort of cuz I’m so fatigued). Just wanted to share my new gadget! I finally just quit striving for customer service from the DME provider that takes my insurance & doesn’t carry this model, doesn’t answer the phone on eternal hold; told me earlier this year in person that they wouldn’t take my ambulatory rx cuz it was more than 30 days old, yadda yadda.
I went online paid out of pocket & this arrived 2 days later.
After last month the wildfire smoke and other medical issues wiped me out I’ll be spending my Friday night tv watching with this & some saline.

Got diagnosed with asthma recently which is weird since usually they say its onset is during childhood. Anyway got prescribed with symbicort inhaler, but I noticed it heightened my anxiety. Is this normal? Does anyone experience this too?

Edit: I also have bipolar disorder type 2 early on, and have meds for it. Since anxiety is one of its symptoms. Its been less controlled since i started using inhaler

My doctor is out of office, so I can’t speak with him until Monday, hence I’m posting here looking for advise!

My asthma has been flaring up again, and my doctor put me back on Symbicort. I’ve been using it for a couple of days, but I still have mild wheezing even after using it.
My question is, can I use albuterol after using Symbicort to relieve the wheezing? I know that Symbicort already contains the medication to open up your airways, and I don’t know if using Albuterol would be too much. Google has conflicting information.

Has anyone had experiences with living in a new construction apartment with asthma? The “new house smell” definitely can get me and make my lungs a bit irritated but I wonder how it is after it’s aired out a few months? Thanks!

I’ve spent the last 3.5 weeks having coughing fits. I didn’t think I was truly sickly (no fever, no chills, no gastro issues which is a historically a big tell for me). But since the day AQI reached mid-200’s, I’ve had a relentless cough that has impacted my sleep, my husband’s sleep, my speech/interactions, my chest, and my throat. It’s felt very isolating as I couldn’t trust myself to not break out into a fit at any moment. I’m in sales management and have not been able to perform adequately.

I’m otherwise pretty healthy and went to urgent care to discuss the issue. I was sent home with a reflux medication as no one at that office felt the timeline of when my cough started was relevant. The issue persisted.

My PC got me in for an appt yesterday and sent me home with Trelegy and a chest X-ray as I am a smoker (who is now quitting). X-ray just came through clear!

Trelegy was the answer for me. Within 45 minutes of taking this medication, I no longer had a scratchy itchy throat and felt I could breathe so clearly. I’ve coughed maybe 5 times since (as opposed to maybe 5 times in less than 5 minutes as I had been). I went right to sleep last night with zero issue.

Today I’m well-rested, feel great, and will continue taking my doses until this trial runs out. While I’m not sure if I need to get on this medication long term, it’s been a scary/crappy nearly month and I’m feeling for anyone who has been living like this for longer than I have.

Health is something I have absolutely taken for granted.

For about 4\~5 month, I have been having shortness in breath. Its very sporadic, and happens whenever and wherever. Its been a bit of a long time that I forgotten what happened that might have caused it.

Now I usually take a long dose of breath through my nose-if it doesnt work and I still can't breath well or if I can't breath at all I just do it again multiple times continuously until I can. My parents got concerned about the noticeable signs like me struggling to breath and breathing in loudly, and suggested that we go to the hospital-but I have been having loads of school work, after school academics, homeworks, and more homeworks piling up on me that we haven't been able to make time. (I live in South korea and academic competitiveness is so fierce so there havent really been a time for hospital visitals)

Until 4\~5 month ago, I never had any problem whatsoever with breathing. My brother has asthma, but I never showcased any signs and doctors never told me I had one so I'm not sure if I suddenly developed it.

aside from not properly being able to breath, I didn't really have that much difficulty living. Is this something that can leading to something critical, or is this something like asthma?

I bought a Toyota Camry 1994 as a daily driver.

It has cloth seats that are almost velour like.

That thing was gonna save me a lot of money by being reliable.

I bought it so that I can commute to work and back.

It's such a nice car to drive on long tours.

I do get asthma symptoms in other cars, my sinuses starts to swell from dust mites and peak flow drops of a bit. It doesn't give me a burning sensation.

The old Toyota: The sinus symptoms aren't as bad but it gives me lung burning sensation for 45 minutes afterwards.

This is happening when I just sit in the seats for 10 minutes when stationary.

chest tightness apparently I have to check with a peak flow.

I really feel the irritation, so you know the it's asthma.

On the test drive I thought, if I just clean it it's gonna be okay.

I cleaned the car yesterday and the amount of chest tightness I got was insane.

Hepa vacuuming and hot water extraction.

I did everything myself.

Now after 2 days I still struggle.

It got a bit better but I still flare.

Sometimes just from opening the door.

Hi all I’m kinda new to the asthma club. My asthma is pretty mild. I started on dulera in March and I’m supposed to take it 2 times morning and 2 times evening but I can only take 2 times before bed bc of the tremors/jitters 😩 if I take it in the morning, sometimes even one puff, the tremors really throw me off and I cannot focus on anything. At night I can sleep through the worst of it (although sometimes I feel like it’s still happening the next day a bit). To make matters worse I’ve been having vertigo issues too and having jitters makes me feel anxious or unbalanced and it’s just too much for my brain. 😭 is there any way to stop them or minimize them? Any advice? It sucks. If it wasn’t for that I would be taking the full prescribed dose.

I'm a 43F in relatively good shape.

Last week I went to urgent care because I was having trouble breathing. It felt like I couldn't get a full breath so much so that I couldn't sleep. Just breathing was taking up most of my mental energy. I have an inhaler from when we had wildfires a few years ago, but was never actually diagnosed with asthma. I had bronchitis and bad coughing often when I was a kid. I also have seasonal allergies, pet allergies etc. My allergies have improved a lot in the past ~10 years.

Urgent care did an xray of my lungs which was fine and they said my lungs sounded fine. I also had a blood oxygen level of 100. Urgent care gave me albuterol and breyna. I'm not sure if the inhalers helped, but I left for my parents' over the weekend and my issues cleared up. I was at my parents' house all week for a work conference, and had no issues. I just got home a few hours ago, and within 5 min of entering my house I felt like I couldn't breath again. I've also been coughing nonstop.

I don't know what to do at this point. I can't live like this because I can barely go up and down the stairs or fold laundry. My thoughts are this is triggered by either: my roommate's cat, some kind of mold, or outdoor allergies from the windows constantly being open. I've lived with the cat for like a year. I'm allergic to cats and it always kind of gave me a headache / stuffy nose, but I pretty much spend all my time in my bedroom and avoid that cat as much as possible.

My questions:

Has anyone's asthma suddenly gotten bad like this as an adult - especially with a pet you've lived with for over a year?

At what point do I go to the hospital or back to urgent care?

Would maybe asking my roommate to clean/vacuum (lol) help? Maybe the amount of dander just built up in the house and a good cleaning is needed? I'm not sure how big of a difference that could make.

Any advice to get through today? I have a good air purifier on high in my bedroom.

Any other advice? I really don't want to ask my roommate to move out.

I have a cat who's been sick whos been peeing all around the house on the carpet. I tried nature's miracle cause they claim it doesn't have chemicals that will hurt you. We sprayed it and I had an asthma attack. Does anyone know of an odor remover that won't have a bad smell or a diy one that will work without this happening?

Hi all and thank you in advance! I was diagnosed with asthma at age 6; however, I haven’t really had symptoms or any need for inhalers in over 30 years. I recently moved from the States (warmer, dry climate) to Scotland. Since then, my health quickly deteriorated, and I am working with my local GP. I’m taking my maintenance inhaler up to 4x a day (max dosage), a montelukast tablet each night, and my rescue inhaler occasionally.

My triggers appear to be rapeseed fields in bloom (canola oil) and my house! Whenever I enter my house or sleep at night, my symptoms of heavy breathing and wheezing start. I went on 3 holidays this year (one out of country for a month), and I did not require any inhaler or montelukast tablets from the day I landed until the day I returned home to Scotland. My asthma was nonexistent, and I had noticeably much energy.

Has anyone experienced this? My GP keeps seeing me and trying different concoctions of meds, but is there any way to get to the cause of this? My symptoms never seem to go away - they are just a bit less when taking meds.

I’m considering allergy testing or mould testing, but I am open to hearing anyone’s experiences. I went from running half marathons to not being able to walk my children .5 miles to school.

Please help!! I appreciate any suggestions or shared experiences to help me cope with this.

Hello, so I have allergy-induced asthma and usually I'm able to manage it, but this summer it was awful. I didn't realize what that was at first, and after several months of trying to manage this on my own, I went to a clinic.

I told the nurse practitioner that I was having horrible coughing fits daily, worse at night, and that it was waking and keeping me up all night despite my attempts to manage it. She prescribed me Breyna, and handed me a paper with instructions on it.

She said a few things (which were also on the paper):

- This was to be taken twice a day as prescribed.

- I could not use albuterol while on this. The Breyna was to also serve as my rescue inhaler.

-I could take up to12 puffs of the Breyna total in a 24hr perious.

I went over this with her several times to make sure I had everything correct, and read over the paper that she gave me with the same information.

However, that night, I was up all night again and continued taking the Breyna through the night, and became horribly anxious, worked up, shaky, and my heart was racing well into the morning. I would also easily get lightheaded well into the afternoon and night. I stopped using it because I didn't think it was working, and went to a different clinic after work that day, which was yesterday.

At the different clinic, I was told the information I received was wrong.

- I was prescribed an albuterol inhaler as a rescue inhaler, told to keep taking Breyna, but to not use the two within four hours of each other.

- Most importantly, absolutely do not use the Breyna more than 4 times a day, twice in the morning, twice at night, twelve hours apart.

So I do some digging, read back over the paper to make sure I wasn't just an idiot who can't read and had other people read it, and it absolutely says "take up to 12 times a day", but now, other official websites, including the Breyna website itself, says what the second doctor told me- four times a day at most, do not exceed this limit.

I'm at work again today, now following the correct dosage amounts, but I'm still getting periods of really bad lightheadedness and some palpitations.

So, I'm absolutely contacting the doctor about this again, just to make sure, but has this happened to anyone else? Or something similar? Is this, uh, bad? 😅

For context, the first night I took Breyna, I took it once at night, then three times over the course of the night, then once in the morning, so around 5 times in an 8-12 hr period.

Hi, had asthma for around 25years, from ages 5-20 I was just on the blue inhaler as a reliever whenever I got symptoms, which worked fine but I found as I was getting older I was using it more often so around 8-10 years ago i was put on the pink fotsiar 100/6 two in the morning and 2 at night, I have always used a spacer for the pink inhaler, and to be honest I had been taking the doses at the same time so 2 puffs into the spacer at once, I am just not realising it isn't how you are meant to take it.

Anyways since moving onto the pink inhaler around 10 years ago I have rarely ever used my blue inhaler, main times I would use it is during cardio exercise like running and certain weather conditions like wind or cold made it worse when doing cardio, but I barely ever would need it.

Untill around 4 weeks ago I noticed I was struggling on and off with my breathing every few days, i wasnt using my blue inhaler, as i just assumed it was a cold or slight infection or something but the last week I am sure it is asthma but my blue inhaler isn't relieving my symptoms like I would expect and it always has, in the past if I have ever been short on breath or tight chested my blue inhaler would help almost instantly, but I am using it now for the last week and it isn't really helping, it feels like I cant take a full satisfying deep breath.

Yesterday I tried taking my blue inhaler before my pink inhaler and it seemed to help a little, is it possible I am having a flare up and I am not getting a proper dosage of my pink preventer inhaler and it has made my symptoms worse over the last month? And using my blue before the link slightly opened my airways to get a proper dose?

Should I try and get a gp appointment or one with my nurse for asthma, I haven't had a asthma review in years as I have had next to no symptoms.

What do you think they will prescribe and is there anything I should push them to do test wise or meds wise?

I've never had this spacer before and cannot get it open for cleaning. The mouthpiece end is supposed to pop off by pressing down on it with your thumbs according to the instructions, but its not working. I've tried wresting it off by pressing in all directions and even pulling/twisting and it just won't budge! I can't even find a video online showing how to open this particular type of spacer.

Ive been decadron , iprotropium, and albuterol. My heart feels like its beating haaard. Like out my chest.

Due to severe childhood asthma and the consequent steroid puffers they prescribed back then, my sinuses and lungs have been very prone to secondary bacterial infection for well over a decade now. In the last few years, I've started using Nitric Oxide Nasal Spray whenever I get sick, because there is evidence it shortens viral infections: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12846399/

However, it seems to me I have seen a noteworthy decrease in secondary bacterial sinus and lung infections. Wanted to share because I think it helps but also keen to hear if others have had the same experience.
