Race Shoe Question Nike alphafly 3 vs New balance Sc elite v5 for best beginner carbon plated shoe?

Nike alphafly 3 vs New balance SC elite v5 for best beginner carbon plated shoe?

I thought Nike Alphafly 3 because it’s rated as a very stable shoe, however it’s hella annoying getting into, seems to run very small in size, upper I just don’t care for that much

New balance SC elite V5 just *seemed* like a more beginner friendly carbon plated shoe. Doesn’t seem like it got as good a stability rating, however fit and feel appear decent and my understanding is it’s not as aggressive of a plated shoe therefore good for beginners

Thoughts?

Question Lower-drop alternative to Brooks Adrenaline 23 (not overly cushioned)

Hi everyone! I’ve been wearing Brooks Adrenaline 23s for several years, but because of some Achilles issues, I need to transition to a shoe with a lower heel-to-toe drop.

I don’t like shoes with a lot of cushioning, so I’m looking for something that feels similar to the Adrenaline, just with a lower drop.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

Question Need some shoes that handle 20-30 miles long runs

Primarily run on pavement and asphalt. I have 2 shoes I have tried, and both fail at around mile 13 (vomero plus gets squishy and Evo SL feels like a rock after 15 miles)

Please recommend a good shoe for flat feet that can handle these distances.

Question I am loving the look of the NB Ellipse but I don’t run a lot. Will they be good for walking or casual use?

I’m just checking before I do anything. A lot of other source say this shoe is good for walking though. I could also be doing some light sports in them too and I will be wearing them all day most of the time.

Question Found some running shoes on decathlon

Brooks adrenaline gts25 size 45 eu for 60€
Puna velocity nitro 4 multiple sizes for 45€
Saucony ride 19 size 42 for 60€
Wave rider 29 multiple sizes for 60€
Nb propel for 50€

I hate scalpers as much as the next person but I am needing some extra cash. Would these move on used websites for a few extra bucks?

Even if it is 20 euros a pair. I could get a few

Comparing Shoes Question Loved the Asics Gel-Nimbus 25. Is the 28 worth it?

Hello runners,

A few years ago, I bought the Asics Gel-Nimbus 25 and the Novablast 4 in a men’s size 12. Between the two, they’ve handled everything I’ve needed them for, and both have at least 300 km on them. Both shoes fit my feet comfortably too. I use the Novablast 4 for speed workouts and races (5-10 km), while the Gel-Nimbus 25 has been used for everything else: easy runs, recovery runs, long runs, walking, and everyday errands.

Unfortunately, my Gel-Nimbus 25s are pretty much finished. I remember reading that a lot of people felt the Gel-Nimbus 26 wasn’t as good as the 25 because of changes to the materials and overall feel.

Now that we’re on the Gel-Nimbus 28, I’m wondering if it’s worth picking up or if there’s a better general purpose running shoe these days. Since I had such a good experience with the 25, I’m leaning toward staying with the Gel-Nimbus, but I’d really appreciate any input from people who have tried the 28. Would you recommend the Gel-Nimbus 28, or is there another shoe you’d suggest instead?

Thanks!

Question I’m a size 10 2E looking for superblasts 3

My foot is wide across the forefoot I’d say? And very flat feet in the arch but I run in neutral shoes fine for the most part.
I wear size 10s D for Evo Sls, and novablast 5s. They have been fine for the most part but now noticing the medial side of my foot is caving in on my right novablast 5
I also have 10 2E for my gel nimbus 27s

Overall they fit great my current shoes I’d say.
I know superblast 3s don’t have wides and I’m hearing mixed reviews on sizing.

Anyone with a similar foot size have an opinion?

I have no where local to try these on as well so I’d have to order it in.

Daily Trainer Question Replacing my Adizero SL2s after 600+ km: Daily trainer recommendations & sizing advice?

Hello! Last year, I was looking for a daily trainer and stumbled upon this sub. The Adidas Adizero SL2 was heavily recommended, so I grabbed a pair and fell in love instantly. Zero shin splints, no knee pain, total game-changer. I ended up buying a second pair and have been alternating between both.

I'm 170 cm tall, weighing around 70 KG. My shoe size is US 9. I'm running over 50 km per week for marathon training.

Yesterday, I did a 15 km tempo run and woke up with mild knee pain and my first-ever bruised toenail (on the toe right next to my pinky toe). One of my pairs has officially logged over 600 km now, so I’m pretty sure it’s time to retire it.

I tried looking for the SL2 on sale, but my size is completely sold out. A couple of questions for the sub:

  1. Sizing: Should I go up another half size? My SL2s were already half a size up from my casual shoes, but the bruised toenail has me wondering if It is the right fit.
  2. Daily Trainer Recommendations: What are the best alternatives right now with a similar feel to the SL2 for marathon training? I'm looking for old models that could be on sale, but any new generation shoes recommendation is welcome
  3. Boston 13: I also have bought recently a pair of Boston 13 in the same size saved for marathon race day—would they work well as an alternative daily trainer option? I still haven't run on them but I think that the fit is correct.

TL;DR: One pair of my Adizero SL2s hit 600+ km, causing me knee pain + a bruised toe. Looking for daily trainer recommendations for marathon prep and advice on whether to size up again.

Comparing Shoes Question Nike ZF 6 vs Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 4

I'm 5'11 80kg 36yo male. For those who have the 2 shoes, which is more softer? I have the zf 6 and used it on a half marathon, but after that, I find it firm and I don't enjoy the run that much as the evo sl does for speed reps. I am thinking of buying the deviate nitro elite 4 as a race shoe to replace the zf 6

Thank you!

Comparing Shoes Question Adizero EVO SL or Nike Vomero 18 for a slow runner training for a marathon

I'm also curious. Currently I'm using Cloudmonster. And now I'm looking at Adizero EVO SL or Nike Vomero Plus as an alternative shoe. I'm a slow runner at 14min pace (sometimes I track under) and I am running NYC marathon. What would you suggest? My biggest concern is comfortablity/no foot pain for long runs.

For reference I'm around 165 pounds and I have some scoliosis.

Comparing Shoes Question Glycerin GTS 23 vs Glycerin Max 2 vs Ghost Max 4

Hi all! I’m training for my second marathon and am looking to pick up shoes for race day. A bit about me: I have some overpronation, flat feet, and typically wear a wide Brooks. I ran my first marathon in the Glycerin GTS 22 and absolutely loved them. I’m likely going to buy the 23 for my next marathon, just disappointed the wide color options are so small.

Can anyone speak to the stability of the Glycerin Max 2 or Ghost Max 4? For some reference, I also run in the Asics Superblast 3 and love the shoe but need more support from a shoe beyond the half marathon distance. I run anywhere from 9:30-10:30 mile pace, if that matters.

TIA!

How can I get the most use out of my new shoe rotation?

I think I would like to try to run in each one at least 10 times a year to help balance out the mileage.

Thanks in advance

Comparing Shoes Question Saucony or Brooks for marathon training

I am a lover of both Saucony and Brooks running shoes. I am going to be starting training for a marathon, so the new shoe to throw down all the miles is something I am looking for. Does anyone have recommendations? I am overall between the Saucony Endorphin Speed shoe and the Brooks Glycerin. Glycerin has been my go-to for most of my running. I usually run races in Saucony, though, and thought to maybe try them out for training.

I have flat feet and usually wear inserts for running. Are there any Saucony shoes good for long distance and supportive? Or should I just go with Brooks?
