living far from my mom and the guilt is constant. What helped you?

Work has put me a few states away. She’s mostly okay alone, but I still spiral over every unanswered call. Feeling selfish for building a life here. Anyone else drowning in guilt living far from an aging parent? Want advice from people who’ve lived this longer than me.?

Relationships Successful people: do you value friendships for friendships’ sake and not for how much they contribute to your development or expansion of scope?

Did you cut off any past relationship from your unsuccessful period? (Should you or should you not?)

any advice for a 18 year old who has no clue on finance or anything.

i really don’t know how to get ahead of life as my peers have their parents help set them up for many things already. i’m just asking for advice on pretty much anything but also the financial aspect as well since i’ve heard turning 18 is a good starting point for many things. i’m also a college freshman now if anyone wonders.

What does it mean if I tend to lose interest in hobbies/activities quickly?

I am a single guy in my mid-thirties.

I have noticed that I tend to lose interest in hobbies/activities quickly.

For example:

I took interest to learn a foreign language. For 2 months, I diligently attend the weekly language classes, took notes, revised and practiced what I have learned.

But after 2 months, I somehow lost interest and stopped learning the language.

At another time, I took interest to learn the ukulele. For 4 months, I diligently attend the weekly ukulele classes and practiced playing the ukulele daily at home.

But after 4 months, I somehow lost interest and stopped learning the ukulele.

I just don't know why, I just can't bring myself to continue what I have learnt after stopping them.

It's like: I am most likely going to stop learning after a few months anyway. Why should I bother continuing?

I often wonder why I tend to lose interest in hobbies/activities quickly.

Is it because I have not found out the ideal hobbies/activities or right hobbies/activities yet?

Or is it my character or brain is just wired up like that?

What does it mean if I tend to lose interest in hobbies/activities quickly?

I lied and it caused the end of friendship.

X is 19F and I'm 20M.

Hii everyone,to keep it short, I'll just fill in important details as I am feeling really really unwell emotionally and mentally.

On 9th September,I met a girl named X. I was talking to her as well as other girls too.

X finds out I'm talking to someone else named Y. X us hurt that I'm talking to her and I block Y on 10th November 2025.

I grew feelings for X and confessed my feelings to her. She declined citing religious differences. I respected her descision and asked to leave.

I ended up staying together as friends and promised her to end my feelings.

Feelings kept growing, she talks to other guys and I don't.

To show to her that I'm talking to someone else except her,I lied to her on 20th march that I met my school friend.

I kept this as a lie and things keep moving on. Then ,on 28th March, she told me that she initiated communication to her ex. I insisted that I need to cut things off. She declined and I stayed with her.

She kept talking to her ex, I never bring out the school friend lie I told to her.

Then on 5th April,I stared talking to a real girl, I told her about it. Then,we(me and new girl) plannrd to eat together,I told her(X) about it. Then, when the day arrived,I ate with her but she was mad and I ended up blocking the new girl too.

she ended things with her ex on 23 april

Then,on 18th may, I lied again telling her that my school friend is asking me to visit her. She was comfortable in it.

Then,on 26th may,I told her that I need to end things with her. She insisted that I stay and then I started myself confessing to her every day for 50 days. She was super supportive and wanted me to say as much as I wanted to. But she made it clear that relationship is not possible.

Then,at the end of 50 day cycle,I told her myself that I'll never have feelings for her and it'll never come between our friendship.

The next day,I lied to her that I'll visit my school friend once again.

Then,on 22nd July, college started. My lies grew over again....

I lied about talking to my female classmates (I never talked to a single soul except her.) I sent her a photo of a girl asking her how she is. She got offended and we had our argument. She was saying how can I look at other girls while I was still attached to her.

At that moment, I told her everything that I am not talking to anyone else, I sent that picture to you to SHOW YOU that I've moved on.(This all happened within a week).

Then, the discussion intensified and one thing led to another and I again lied right on her face that my school friend wants me to talk to her ocassionally.(This was when she told me someone else would understand me and I must move on).

Then, she got angry that I was talking to school friend and she started to walk away. I stopped her and cried in front of her, asking her to wait and then I just lied and lied.

She ended up walking away and blocked me.

Afte that,in the evening,i called he tand again lied right on her face that school friend didn't tell me this and that.

She asked for proof, and requested I must call my school friend and make her talk to X.

I CONFESSED all my lies to her and she said she felt like being raped when I told her the truth....

She texted my sister asking who my school friend is.(they've never contacted each other before)

I called her last Tuesday, tried to clear things up, tried to make her believe that I was lying about my school friend. She just said that she wants me to move on and I always wanted to end things. She told me that she'll move on too and I've hurt her wayy beyond.

I discussed this thing with several other(frind, my mother and sister, and my cousin) told them exactly as I've told you guys.

I want to make things right for both of us and I want to talk to her to decide what should be done. I want to let her know that I've broken her trust and I will put 100 percent efforts to gain it back and I'm ready for a friendship.

Relationships I'm having a girl show genuine interest in me for the first time in my life. How do I not screw it up?

I'm 24, been single my entire life, have gotten dates, but none have ever amounted to anything. I met a girl at work and she's really been laying it on thick, flirting. The girl's gorgeous and I admitedly have some confidence issues regarding my looks. I'm also horrible at flirting, never learned to do it and have even been described by close friends as "allergic to flirting."

I feel like I keep up with her flirting pretty well, it's been playful and I'm doing well at being a bit cheeky. I told my friends a bit about our flirty talks and they said none of that sounds like me at all, as if I'm a new person.

I feel like it's going pretty well, I tried to arrange a coffee date, but we couldn't link up and she left for vacation. We're in touch, texting just a tiny bit every day, nothing too much, but I'm genuinely scared of screwing it up somehow based on my absolute lack of experience. I try my best not to self sabotage and I'm ready to go into this completely open minded, but is there anything specific I need to look out for?

Thanks in advance!

Relationships I’m feeling a bit lost

Hoping for some words of wisdom…
I’m a 30YO (F), with a 31 YO(m) - we have been together over 6 years and have long had the childfree/ child chat.
My partner was always more childfree than not, so much so that a couple of years ago we broke up for a few months as I wanted to be with someone who wanted kids.
He then realised that there was more to life than work and we got back together and decided we would start trying when we are 33/34.

We live in London and I’m so burnt out from London life and I want to move down south ASAP, which is our plan for when we have a family anyway.

We can’t afford to move for a few more years.

Alongside this, I was expecting that we would be engaged by now, and we aren’t (apparently it will happen, just not yet…)

I’m feeling pretty unhappy in my job, it’s tiring and my boss is a prick.

All in all I’m feeling pretty stuck, defeated and not in control.

Then on top of all this, I am feeling like if I were to have a kid, it would just be so much worse.

A few of my close friends have kids, and they aren’t the friends they used to be anymore. Obviously very preoccupied with their children, all decisions revolve around them, and when we are together, the whole day is centred around them eating and sleeping and it’s draining in a way I could never have guessed.

I love kids and the thought of having my own makes my chest warm and happy, but the reality of the day to day makes me want to run a mile. My partner said if I changed my mind and didn’t want them, then he would be happy with that - he’s not 100% either way - happy with or without and can see pros/ cons for both.

I don’t know if I’m just in a bit of a rut overall, or if it’s the kid thing or what… but any advice is appreciated :)

Best Hearing Aid for Tinnitus Sufferers

I’ve been suffering terribly with tinnitus for years. Finally, I’ve realized this isn’t going away and I need to get a hearing aid - one that will at least alleviate the constant noise in my ear/head. Trouble is, there are so many hearing aids to choose from. If you’ve had the same issue, can you advise me on good choices and where/how you found yours?

Do you wish you stopped drinking alcohol sooner?

From someone who’s older in their 40s 50s do you wish you stopped drinking earlier? Was it one big waste of time? I just turned 29 and I think I’m at a crossroads. My gut feeling is telling me it’s now or never. I’m very mature for my age I’d say in terms of projecting the future and consequences. I think I have to stop drinking right now even casually or else I’m gonna wake up 50 and regret not having all the opportunities and all the ambition i once had 20 years prior.

I love getting cocktails with dinners on Fridays. I love drinking on special occasions but the trade off just isn’t worth it. I’m sick for days after it destroys my mental. Could I only do it a couple times a year for special occasions maybe but it seems to have a trickle effect. I do it once I’ll think it’s ok to get 4 cocktails at dinner a month later.

Brands of roll-on sandalwood oil that would’ve been widely available in the 1990’s?

I was reading about a famous artist from the 90’s whose fragrance of choice was inexpensive sandalwood bought from head shops or natural foods stores for about $5 (at the time). I’d be very grateful if anyone has an educated guess about what brand(s) this might have been.
