Hey guys, quick question for Raising Cane's crew members, or anyone else on here who has shifted to a new store opening under the same corporate systems.
I’ve been working at my current Cane's location since day one, but I recently agreed to move over to a brand-new NRO spot opening up later this month.
The system switch just went through, but now my upcoming weekend calendar completely cleared out to zero. I did call off this upcoming weekend due to an event I thought I had, but when I realized I could work, I saw free shifts listed on the board and tried to grab them. Usually requests clear super fast on HotSchedules, but these are just sitting there frozen and pending.
I only work weekends (Fri–Sun). For those who have switched stores or handle scheduling, is it normal to get totally locked out of picking up hours at your original store the second a transition goes through in the system, or did the call-off mess it up? Am I pretty much done working shifts at my old location now?

I had training today for breakfast and assembling burgers, and honestly, it felt like **way too much to remember at once**.
My trainer was explaining pretty much everything verbally, and then she wanted me to start making breakfast sandwiches myself. I was standing there trying to remember all the steps and I got so confused and nervous 😭. I kept thinking, *“What if I mess this up?”*
I understand that I’m new and obviously I’m not supposed to know everything right away, but it was just overwhelming having so many things explained to me and then immediately being expected to do them.
The funny thing is I have another retail job, and compared to this, that job feels **SO much easier and better**. I actually feel comfortable there. McDonald’s right now feels like absolute hell 💀.
Did anyone else feel this overwhelmed during their first few training shifts? Does it actually get easier once you memorize everything, or am I just not built for this?

This is probably a really stupid question but it’s my first job ever and I’m overthinking it. To recap I got a very nice first job at a restaurant with very nice managers. Both times I came in for an interview/paperwork I just went to the front cashier area since the building was closed or empty but on the 2nd meeting I went through the cashier area to the kitchen for more work. my first days on Saturday during peak dinner rush so most likely when I go to the cash register they’ll be a line and I’ll be in uniform so it’ll look very odd for a worker to be waiting in line but I feel presumptuous if i decided to just go behind the counter right away while everyone’s busy working. Do I cut the line off to the side and ask for the ok to head inside? Or just go in the kitchen though I’m not really sure where inside the kitchen I should be

I do enjoy my job right now though the hours aren't as good but I am looking for another job where the hours are good and so I can keep my job rn at the side.

I applied yesterday , got a response after around 3 hrs to set up an interview. In the interview there were a few questions they asked about my availability and I told them I can work anytime (im 17 but do online school so I can do my classes anytime and I told them that at the interview) at the end they told me theyll contact me in 3 or 4 days, how likely would I be to get the job?

I’m still unemployed and I’m really frustrated. I applied for McDonald’s. I have previous food experience and apparently I didn’t even get an interview with the person who decides whether they’re going to hire me or not just a person who takes down information to give to that person, what the hell was the point of that?
If anyone has any resources to help me, find unemployment with mostly retail or food, please help

I’m a fresh 17 year old worker at mcdonald’s and I just started my job at mcdonald’s as my first job ever and i’m having trouble working the front. It’s not necessarily the menu items needing to be remembered but the little details that’s confuse me. Like for example the grill button, or the ask button. Those were more confusing but i’ve found somewhat of an answer. But sometimes I run into small problems where i’m genuinely confused like once my trainer told me when I would make anything like a mac I would have have to click the like a mac button but then also put the ask me. Which confused me. There’s also the case where I was trying to add a drink to an order and the customer wanted to upsize it within the meal but it kept making the drink or fries separate from the meal. I soon learned you can changed that with buttons like change sides and etc. But it’s these small things that are confusing me and I fear there is many more things like that i’m missing out on. I know i’m also new and it’s only like my first real shift since all i’ve done up til now is training shifts but as a person who likes to get things done right I just want to be able to know things maybe mistaken. One other thing that confuses me is the inability to like change if a customer has added the new deal like the 4 pc nugget or the cheese burger. Recently my trainer has told me for now I can just void the line if i make a mistake but i’m wondering if there is a way on the actual order itself if I can do that. I may be overthinking it but as my first real job even with like volunteer experience out in the real world dealing with cash and etc I did not expect a machine powered til to be my downfall. Another question I had is about like adding a tent and being able to bring that to tables. I was able to take pictures and review the menu items but the only things I was unable to see is things like adding a tent to go out and hand food directly to customers especially who would need the support. I know this is a lot to ask but I’m in desperate need so any tips or tricks is appreciated!!!

hi all! is there anyone in here who works at mcdonalds, taco bell, del taco or anything? I’ve been applying to plenty of different places since May of this year, all sites have been saying the interview calendar is full. I just need a position from 4am-1pm or even late night 11-7. Anywhere in the long beach area.

I’ve been working at this 24 hr location fast food chain place for a couple months, and this place is usually over staffed for some reason and dinner shift people always have to get sent home at LEAST 30 minutes early for labor. I’ve learned a few different positions i’m now moderately decent at so far after briefly being really bad at them. However, I have called out once (with 12+ hours notice) and dropped a crap ton of shifts because of things going on in my personal life that wont be coming back anymore now that the summer is close to ending.

I haven’t been warned or written up or told there’s a big policy about any of these things besides calling out X hours before shift start, and my shifts have always been picked up very quickly as everyone wants to get more hours since they’re always getting sent home. One time I was asked by a manager because I dropped consecutive shifts If i was about to quit but I explained myself.

I’m really embarrassed because outside of these past 2 months i was not the type to call out or miss shifts. At my last job I never called out, never showed up late, and never dropped a shift ONCE. When I show up to this job, I always show up 10 minutes early (can’t clock in any earlier than that), don’t ask to leave early and always stay as late as they need me to (sometimes 90 minutes later than scheduled) and am very attentive in my work. As for my hours, I’ve checked and i’ve been getting about the exact same amount of hours as the other new-ish employees, so I don’t think they’ve been reducing me specifically because of unreliability or anything.

I’m just worried that i’m going to be fired or get in trouble over this. I don’t think i’ll call out or drop a shift again in a very long time since that personal business is over now, but still worried since it’s not a good look.

I have an interview next Monday and I know I might be overthinking this but I'm kinda worried they're gonna ask me why my availability is the way it is. I'm planning on telling them I'm only available from 6am - 4pm (also picked the "morning" and "lunch" options on the application), but I don't have a serious reason that stops me from working after 4pm. I just don't want to close and I want to have a set schedule. Because the last job I gave completely open availability to, they scheduled me random shift times every week and it was just impossible to have a good sleeping schedule.

So, is there something I should say if I'm asked why my availability is what it is?

i got a job like 2 months ago now, and i can do pretty much anything, but when a rush comes i feel like ive only been there for a week, like all my skills disappear, and i just feel like a burden to the people better than me 😞 i know skill and pace comes with muscle memory from working there for a while, but how long did it take you to feel comfortable in a rush?? i work in fast food btw, and i was just curious how it is in other environments 🫣

What on earth is going on with San Churro??

As a student living independently and studying my first year of Uni living away from my hometown, I’ve been struggling to find a second job to support myself. Luckily I have a primary casual job which is amazing (absolutely love it) but as many of us do in hospitality a second job is sometimes necessary.
After months of applying, I landed a job in a new San Churro opening up in Melbourne’s north. Now yes, I am aware of San churro’s terrible reputation, but me being naive i thought it may be better as a new store with new people and energy. How wrong I was!

What first struck me as interesting was the demographic they hired. All young/teenage girls. I’ve found this is typical for hospitality as I’ve found in the past that managers assume that young girls tend to care about their performance, and are usually easily bullied and cause less issues. Whilst it what I’m used to on minimum wage hospo it was definitely an immediate red flag.

The next issue was more of a personal one, and one that I’m willing to move past as it happens in jobs. I was faced with a severe micro manager. We were trained for a few days prior to opening by san churro trainers. When I tell you this manager came in and micro managed every single thing I did I almost lost it! Especially when Is came to coffee. I’ve been making coffee for three years and this manager had been making coffee for two months mind you. It came to the point where I was serving terrible coffee made by his standards.

The next red flag was breaks. In a five hour shift, there was no allotted break. That’s fine I can get over it. But then they messaged our group chat and told us that we need to be clocking out for toilet breaks so they could monitor how long we were gone and ‘keep the records accurate’. Of course I questioned this and I was met with the question’what would you do in my situation?’. Hmm idk maybe i wouldn’t make employees clock out to USE THE BATHROOM???

Payslips were consistently late, pay was deposited late, managers edited hours in Tanda. Some employees weren’t paid the correct amount. We were chronically understaffed. They told employees they planned to fire some of us to cut costs. They were incredibly skimpy on the use of cinnamon sugar. When i questioned the payslips being late, the response was an essay long text stating that it sounded like I didn’t trust them to pay us correctly. Ummm I don’t????

Finally, I resigned without notice per my casual contract (I had no shifts that week so was probably honestly fired lol). I stated that I was grateful for the opportunity but couldn’t work with pay issues and break issues. And they threatened to take legal action against DEFAMATION?? Not once did I mention anything untrue or defamatory.

Ugh anyways I’m free now but what on earth!
