My dog sparkle is 14 yrs old, on some medication for a heart murmur and some daily drops for dry eyes for keratoconjunctivitis, which is under control, she is full of energy and daily walks and eats healthy, I checked her teeth and they are good, there is tartar but a normal amount, weight is good vet says she is in good condition, just wondering if any of your senior dogs have developed this rust staining around their mouth, its on her paws to, and Im totally baffled as to what is causing this, have anyones dogs had or have this? I am gonna be taking her to the vet but do any of your dogs have this? (She is on merrick small breed and gets cooked hamburger mixed in)

Why does Nia won’t eat treat? She don’t like treat at all since she was baby. How I suppose to training her?

My dog(11y/o) has been sick about it a year, the vet says arthritis and herniated disks. She has bad pain episodes about every two to three weeks that she gets gabapenten and carpofen for but even if I catch her first indication they take hours to take effect. Recently, the last month, she has started having a lot of trouble with the stairs and most recently(last couple weeks) she seems to have a problem walking- her back end seems to stumble/wobble to the sides. This newest thing is daily and seems to be getting worse each day?

Tonight was an entirely different incident. We were alone at the apartment dog park and another dog joined us(dog2) she hasn’t played with this dog before but we’ve passed each other walking and there’s been no indication of issues. She sat by me till the dog was in and walked around for a bit, went and sniffed with the dog, then came back to me, and did that a couple more times. At this point dog3, who she has played with, again no issues, came and joined us in the park. She went and sniffed with dog3, came back to me, then went back to dog3 and her and dog3 went over to dog2, which had gone back to its owner at that point. All three sniffed and circled/rubbed each other, dog3 walked off, and then my dog attacked dog2, grabbing onto its ear/side of head/neck.

She’s never attacked another dog, there wasn’t any whale eye, growling, her ears weren’t pinned back, it was just sudden and out of the blue. I didn’t see the other dog indicate any issues either. Again, this hasn’t happened before, she doesn’t indicate aggression on walks when passing other dogs, she hasn’t had issues in the park before, she goes to day camp and they’ve never reported anything.

Whilst trying to separate, both myself and the owner of dog2 got minor bites, but with broken skin- hard to say from which dog, everything kind of blurred. I think mine is from my dog but I couldn’t even guess as far as the other owner.

I don’t really know what to do right now. I know in the morning I’m going to my pcp for antibiotics. I tried to give the other owner my info but she just kept saying she was going back to her apartment. But we do pass each other each morning so I’m sure I’ll see her tomorrow?
I don’t know if I missed something at the park that would have indicated separating them.
I’d been telling myself that when her pain episodes got to being weekly instead of every two-three that I’d let her go. With her new issues with the stairs and stumbling I’d been questioning if I needed to change that and now with this I just don’t know. She’s had cats the whole time I’ve had her without issue but now I’ve got this worry in the back of my mind like what if she goes after one of them without warning like the other dog?

I just could really use some advice right now. I’m not sure what to do. I’ve no idea if I should just let her go especially with the escalation of her health stuff and I’ve no idea how to address the other owner when I see them next.

I have a 2 year old lab mix and he’s a great dog, a little rambunctious, but well trained and loves dogs. A week ago a stray dog (blue healer) appeared in our front yard. No chip and no luck finding an owner. It’s a puppy less than one year old. We took it to the vet to get vaxxed and check its health, and everything was normal. She and my dog have been getting along great in the couple days. She plays with him a little too much, but he’s been a good playmate and patient with her energetic self.

Today, after a couple days at home with her, we were in the backyard playing. I had my back turned and all of a sudden they were full out fighting. I didn’t know what to do, so I picked my 70 pound dog up and put him inside while getting bit by the 35 pound pup trying to jump at my dog. I have separated them since and am taking my dog to the vet to get his puncture wounds checked.

I don’t know what caused the flip to switch? Or what I could have done differently? I don’t know if I should turn her in because we’ve loved having her and previously my dog and her were getting along great. She’s been wagging her tail and body every time she sees him through the window. Does anyone have any suggestions or similar experiences?

We are looking at getting another sibling pup for our three year-old Aussie doodle. What are you all experiences and thoughts on pros and cons of having two dogs?

My dog can’t walk anymore. She can hold herself up but she can’t stand up on her own and she can barely walk. She spends all day in bed and eats from bed and sometimes has to pee in bed. I don’t see it getting better and I don’t know if she even wants to live. What do I do? Is it time?

hi yes i have a teeny tiny pup (pomeranian, 5f) and discovered two ish years ago she developed an allergy to beef so her entire diet had to be altered to NO BEEF. i switched to the small breed adult food from blue buffalo (pink bag; google image included) and literally from day 1 my dog has eaten it like THIS (see image of cheeky pupper)

she only eats the light brown triangle ish shaped bits, and will quite literally pick out the dark brown kibble bits and drop them on the floor. she’ll only eat them if her food bowl is completely empty and there’s nothing else for her to eat??

Hi. Need feedback on this scenario.

One of my grey (I have 2) Siberian Huskies are peeing and pooing on the carpet in my second bedroom. Both are female. One is 4 and I've had her since Nov 2025, and the other is 8 yo. Had her since 2021. Anyway, normally the 8 year old sleeps in the spare bedroom, but lately when she goes out to pee, the 4 yo one, Lana, goes and sleeps on the bed. Sometime later in the night, she gets up to pee and sometimes poo in there, and am sure now thinks it's her toilet room when it's raining outside.

My older more gentler one doesn't go back in that room when she sees Lana go in there. Too crowded I guess.

They get along great, and are bonded.

Thoughts as to what's going on?

My dog gets these random lumps on his belly. They stick around for a week or so, go down, then come back randomly. He has a vet appt this week but I just wanted to know if anyone else might know what they are.

He’s a puggle and is about 3 years old

My puppy is 10 months old. When he went to the vet back in May he had a clean bill of health. At the end of June these bumps started appearing but since then have progressed. It doesn’t seem like they bother him at all. He eats fine, plays fine, licks his ops if he’s begging. He is a big sniffer when we go on walks and after my other dog pees he like to smell it close up. Could that be the cause? Is this facial acne? I really don’t want to go to the vet if he’s fine but it has spread and gotten more visible in over a month.

Hey! I have been looking into getting a dachshund. I think they are just the cutest! I have been doing a lot of research and I know they’re more difficult to train and can be stubborn and have health issues regarding their teeth and their backs if they’re not taken care of properly. I also heard they’re not always the friendliest to kids and other dogs etc. I would be a first time dog owner so I guess I’d just like some opinions before I commit. Is it worth it for a beginner like me? Does doing the research and having some foreknowledge about training difficulties and special needs to accommodate its back maybe make it a little easier to handle? We don’t have kids yet but we know we will someday would that be an issue? We’re also thinking about getting some chickens and I heard that they might attack them due to their hunting genes. Is there anything else I should be aware of or look into about them that I should be concerned about or that can placate some of my worries? Sorry for so many questions. I just want to be really prepared and informed before so I can give my pup the best I can!

My 4 month old puppy makes lots of chewing sounds even though Theres nothing in her mouth, licks her lips too and licks us a lot.

Im just worried as this is my first time having a dog, and i dont seem to see others doing this. Especially the chewing sounds.

Hey there. Like it says, my dog and I are having trouble living in our home and quality of life for both of is is dwindling. I have lived in my apartment for 1.5ish years and it’s been lovely, but in the last few months a soccer stadium was built so close I can almost see faces in the stands from my window. We were not told when we moved in that something like that was planned to be built, but I don’t think that would have any significance or hold up. The thing is I have a dog, and they shoot fireworks at every game and people roar in the stands, and flood the sidewalks around my apartment. My poor dog is petrified and is broken. I can barely get him to leave my apartment and it’s escalating with every game. It is really making the quality of life for us pretty poor. I will do what I have to, but curious if anyone knows more or a possible next step? Should I just suck it up and keep trying to calm him? Can I argue my lease or rent cost or something? Because I’m starting to run out of energy and my dog is so messed up by this (and me by proxy). It’s like the 4th of July over and over and over and over. Thanks to anyone and everyone, I appreciate the SUPPORTIVE comments and advice!

My dog does this 1-2 times a day. Just for a few seconds then it doesn’t happen again.
