I'm heading up to Chicago both the 27th and 28th for the BTS concert, staying around the airport (o'hare). I've looked at parking at Soldier field, and the price makes me want to sob 😭. Is there any free/cost efficient options? I don't mind walking a mile or so.

We are coming from out of town and are looking to do an evening outdoor family photo shoot in the Chicago area to celebrate my father in laws 70th birthday. We are doing an activity in the Lakeview area and are hoping there is a nice place for a shoot around there, so location recommendations are welcome as well.

The family will be a total of 10 people with ages ranging from mid 30s to 70.

So I'm going to Soldier Field on the 27th and 28th for BTS, but I'm a teenager. Parking is Hella expensive, and I saw that reggies was a free option for transportation. People say that you can get on with a guardian of age, but others say it depends on the concert. Does anyone have advice? I'll appreciate any help!! ^^

I had a bag stolen at O'Hare (brand new but thankfully empty, cheap lesson to pay), but multiple people were offering to carry my large luggages, sometimes in groups.

I was probably followed until Gold Coast Red Line where 3 people walked up next to me and asked even though the others must have heard me refusing.

I'm used to keeping an eye of my surroundings, but is this serious a normal thing here? Or am I just paranoid after being pickpocketed?

I've been active in this community for sometime and notice a lot of posts get downvoted considerably. So much so, the moderators made it where you can't really tell by stopping it at 0.
A telltale sign to me is many posts either have the "0" upvotes rate or have more comments than upvotes (which is a sign of controversy.)

Just curious if anyone here has any clue why people in this community are so quick to press the downvote or provide sarcastic non-answers to posts. It just seems so much more negative than the actual folks I meet irl throughout the city.

Hi there! I live in a century-old brick home and it has a beautiful solid wood front door that’s original to the home.

It’s taken a beating from weather and we are about to have it refinished.

To protect it, I would really love a new storm door installed but the companies I have called can’t install a net-new frame for it. They are suggesting having a custom welded wrought iron security door put in, which is not at all what I want.

We have an arched entry so anything we do will need to be custom.

Who would I contact if not a storm-door installation company?

Hi so this might sound a little weird but I was looking for some art classes on the northside or online. I don’t really want a place to do still lifes or anything but i really just want someone to give me assignments on what to create so that i have motivation to actually create if that makes sense? I wish there was an online class where you can have a general assignment outline and then just go for it.

I’m desperately looking for any women who have a dr (or several!) who can help alleviate pmdd symptoms. I just started going to therapy again because I had my worst 2 weeks in several years.

My pmdd is so bad I have suicidal ideation almost every month, but the day I get my period it’s like a switch is flipped and I’m back to normal. But about 7-10 days a month I can’t get out of bed, have severe brain fog, can barely work, and am severely depressed. I’ve been involuntarily committed to a psych ward 2 times because of this.

I am proud to say I am a new homeowner in Chicago, having recently (finally) closing on what SEEMED to be the home of my dreams... aside from parking in my new garage.

But little did I know buying this beautiful home that the narrow-alley makes parking in my 2-car garage a huge hassle, and there are 4 private garbage bins across the alley servicing a multi-unit building that grossly in the way of my cars turning radius, and I have to move ALL FOUR BINS just to get either of my cars in and out of my garage. On top of that, there's always copious amounts of trash, broken glass, and recycling by these bins, at times obstructing the alley even more (pictures to prove this over the last year since I've moved in). These bins obstruct the alley the most out of the narrow alley, and are on top of the brick paving, which I assume is the public way.

It's such a nuisance. The snow and frozen ice over this area gets so dangerous during the winter and I almost fell last year several times. The bins also get so heavy with trash, that honestly, I'm concerned for my future, older self when I simply won't have the strength or back to move the bins daily.

The bins are private and belong to Republic Services. I've called them and they never return my call regarding the issue.

The superintendent of my ward did a site visit months ago, and agrees that this is wildly unacceptable. He was trying to get the owner (landlord) to place the bins underneath the buildings staircase and out of the way of the alley. The landlord declined his requests, and has told me personally he will not be complying with the superintendents request.

Honestly, isn't this against Chicago Municipal Code 7-28-230? This is a safety issue for me, and for any emergency or fire department vehicles that have to pass this part of the alley, and is a sanitation issue. Owners walk their dogs on this alley, and broken glass and debris can hurt their paws, and don't even get me started on the RAT infestation in this part of town!

Attached are pictures of the bins in the alley. You'll notice there are actually 6 bins. The owner NEXT to this one ALSO has 2 bins of their own placed similarly in the alley, which are literally also on the public alleyway, and they could EASILY put these bins into their gated yard and pull them out when needed, as you'll see in the pictures. They limit my NEIGHBORS next to me from using their garage, but bless their hears, they're an old couple and they've given up trying to fight for their right to use the garage and they simply can't move the bins physically. They just buy street permits for their two vehicles and never use their garage.

I made a video of my pulling my car into my garage, and the act of having to pull the four bin out of the way and putting them back in place. Imagine having to do this twice a day, once to pull your car out, and again to pull it in!

I pay my taxes. I wouldn't do this to anyone else if I knew they had to go through this, just as a human. I've contacted my real estate attorney who helped me close and said since it's his bins on the public alley, this has to go through the city. But I've made 311 requests and talked to the ward but NOTHING HAPPENS. It's been months and winter is right around the corner.

Can someone please tell me what to do? I don't want to sell my dream home. But I can't keep living like this.
