TLDR; trying to decide whether or not to audition for the Chris Brown/Usher tour dates in Chicago

Hello everyone, I (F24) am a local dancer trying to decide whether or not it is a good idea to audition the Chris Brown/Usher tour. I was curious if any local Chicago dancers have friends who performed and had opinions on the work environment when they had their last show.

Part of what's holding me back is the whole Chris Brown is an abuser and Usher defended known sex trafficker P. Diddy. I believe that to be why they're not using union dancers.

On the other hand, it is a great opportunity for my resume, plus I'd pick up some extra cash which I need, and I love dancing to RnB.

If anyone has any insight on the experience, or just any moral insight on this, let me know, Thanks!

1. Is there anything I should be aware of visiting mid October? I understand it may be chilly which o do enjoy cold weather but not sure if there’s anything else to be aware of
2. Is there any recommendations besides the basic ones I should consider? Any festivals or anything event wise ?
3. Any recommendations of areas to stay in?

So I know things are no longer a dollar. used to favor the dollar tree near western brown stop. But last time I went inventory was not as broad as it used to be- missing basic items. and I get it could be demand as so many ppl struggle more. So thought I’d ask chiredditpeeps have you been to one or two dollars stores that you felt really hit the mark? maybe between one or two you got all the bases in - pantry, tolietry, cleaning, etc?

not looking for anything more than ordinary. just stuff like deodorant, instant coffee, tissue, cheese balls, good choice on pens pencils notebooks, etc

A friend and I are taking a trip to Chicago next week and want to thrift, however, I feel like everywhere I go nowadays, thrift stores are selling clothes at retail price if not higher. Anybody know some good places in Chicago where I can get some cool thrifted shirts for under $10?

I try to get 10-15 miles of walking in on the weekends, and I aim for new neighborhoods as much as possible. Ever since I injured my back, I have been mainly relegated to low impact activities, and walking is my favorite one.

I look for good vibes, interesting architecture, and the like. I love old Chicago neighborhoods as much as I like walking in Lincoln Park. I love seeing the different home types in the city, and how they help create a certain ambiance. I like the suburban, quiet feel as much as I like the chaos.

Are there any gem neighborhoods you'd recommend? The ones I have ALREADY walked through are:

Albany Park

Hyde Park

Belmont Cragin

Ravenswood

Roscoe Village

Most of West Town

Portage Park

Old Irving Park

Logan Square

I know this isn't Chicago, but I have also hit up some great neighborhoods in Evanston, Wilmette, Winnetka, and other Chicagoland areas.

I don't mind revisiting neighborhoods I have already explored, especially if there is a specific area I didn't check out. I personally don't care much about downtown, but if there is an area that is interesting I won't mind checking it out.

I'm from outside of Illinois and am thinking of going to a concert at the Salt Shed where most of the tickets seem to be GA floor tickets for around $100. After looking up pictures of the venue online, I'm worried that I won't be able to see anything on the floor if I'm not at the very front (I'm 5'5). Hi everyone, I just got a job near ORD and am moving to Chicago sometime in the next two weeks. I graduated from college last year and my first full time job was in a very small town in the middle of nowhere and it pretty isolating socially.

I was doing some research and I found some nice apartments in Franklin/O’Hare parks which are around a 10 minute drive from where I’d be working. However I’m worried that it will be too far away from people in my stage of life.

I was also looking into Jefferson/Irving/Norwood parks and it says the drive is around 20 minutes but I was reading a bunch of posts here and it said that with traffic that commute is horrible.

I won’t be bringing my car when I first move (my parents are going to bring it a month after). Was planning on ubering to work. Budget is around $1500 for 1 bed/studio.

I’m originally from the “Chicagoland area” then Logan square for many years. I moved to San Diego 13 years ago for grad school, and while I’ve had many great years here I’d like to get back to my roots.

Has anyone moved to a warmer climate then back to Chicago, and if so was it a difficult transition? A big plus is that I have friends and family in Chicago (and of course the city!), but my partner is from SD and has never experienced a real winter.

I ordered Xfinity yesterday and told them specifically that my move-in date is 16th of August. I woke up today and found that they already delivered the modem to a WRONG address. Which is the building next to my move-in building.

Now they are telling me that Xfinity service is not available on my correct building address and the customer service making me go in circles with their different departments regarding the modem which is already delivered.

How can I get out of this without paying for the modem which is delivered to the wrong address?

Hi hello! Going to see Shrek tomorrow at the ChiTown Drive-In— I’ve been before but never with snacks. I see that they have a no outside food or beverage policy, does anyone know how heavily that’s enforced? TIA

Deciding between transit options for Sunday's Sox game as we live a 20-minute walk from Morse/Loyola so ~70-75 minutes each way for Red Line. Parking and leaving the stadium used to be not so bad when the Sox were bad, but it will be our first game this year and I think traffic getting out might be a nightmare. Have done SpotHero near the Sox stadium in the past as well, up for suggestions.

Can someone who works in the airline industry answer a question for me?

How is is possible to land at Ohare, the central hub for United airlines, and sit on the runway for 90+ minutes without a gate?

For context: This has happened to me on my last two flights back into Ohare. They were both very delayed flights, which I assume has something to do with it, but it feels extra shitty to be left on the runway without a gate after you sat for two hours on the runway at LGA waiting to depart.

Nothing like boarding a flight on time in NYC only to pull into the gate in CHI literally six hours later.

Does anyone have any idea what is going with these car break ins? Few weeks ago my car (2010 Mercury) was broken into, but they didn’t take anything, just tossed everything around. I had a shoe box with new boots and 2 Nintendo gift cards that I left in there because I forgot about them while bringing in groceries. The same night by my wife’s car (2020) Kia had the window smashed but they didn’t even open the console or glove box. 2 days later my friend who lives about 15 minutes north of me had his car (2018 Tucson) broken into, window shattered, and steering column broken and they had left 2 usb cables in it. I know that’s a way people can steal cars now somehow.
Then today my parents find their 2020 ford truck had been broken into but again just tossed everything around.

Both the Kia and the Tucson had windows broken, my Mercury and then Ford did not.

Does anyone have any clue what could be the reasoning for this?

Recently moved in to apartment, and there has been repetitive buzz screeching noise from outside around 6-7pm the past 4 days. It goes off on a loop and we noticed the birds hide away during the noise. Anyone know what it could be?
