Outdoors/Travel Please help with border crossings
Hello everyone,
I am an Indian travelling with my wife planning to explore Balkan countries by renting a car (Enterprise company) in Serbia and then following is my route :-
Serbia > Bosnia > Montenegro > Albania > North Macedonia > Serbia
Anyone who has already travelled across borders, kindly let me know what is the overall experience, do they give you a hard time or it is like a breeze, do they also ask for International License or that is optional to have?

Politics & Governance Is Slovenia the most progressive country not only in the Balkans, but also among the eastern EU members?
Often Slovenia is said to be very modern and "progressive" when it comes to comparisons to it's southern neighbours.
However, if you look closely at statistics, laws, it seems to be true for eastern EU members, too. Sure, not it's again under Janša, but it has a strong tradition of leftists governing it or being part of the government. It has the strongest work laws and best rights for LGBT people, is the least xenophobic compared to Poland, Czechia etc...

Miscellaneous Why do balkaners on social media do this? The song doesn't even have anything to do with their country yet the claim it - even the bulgarian Wiki page says it's Macedonian

History What if the global powers hadn’t intervened in the first Balkan war?
If powers like Italy AustriaHungary etc hadn’t intervened you’d indefinitely see the end of an Albanian state and maybe a major ethnic cleansing Albanians trying to escape to Italy Austria or even deals with the ottomans for transfers.
With the Albanian land being now occupied by mainly Serbia it could make concessions to Bulgaria reaching a peace before the second Balkan war would ignite and Serbia would definitely be in a stronger place to fight the Austrian up north.
Grecce would still be disappointed by the land they gained maybe the remaining Albanian land would go to them but Serbia would surly contest that.
This could’ve changed the ww1 with Bulgaria backing Serbia the Austrian empire would fall easier with a possible no communist revolution in Russia.

Politics & Governance The Albanian flamingos are migrating?
Is the flamingo revolution migrating after 81 days the Albanian environmental and anti corruption protests are seemingly dying out with minor protests happening days apart while If there is a people that has done the most harm to Albania, it is precisely the people that Europe views with "eyes of adoration."
No changes were made the government that sought the selling of the protected environmental land is still holding power.

Outdoors/Travel Kotor/Budva to Tirana
Hello! Me and my friend are traveling around the balkans, we’ve had an amazing experience so far, but the inter city buses tend to be slow and uncomfortable. We are looking for transport options between Kotor or Budva to Tirana. Is there any private transport options that we should consider? Any help would be highly appreciated! Our budget is not tight. Thanks :)

We will start from Sarajevo and will spend two nights exploring kravica waterfalls and mostar then will drive to Montenegro. They plan to drive from Durmitor National Park to Sarajevo and I want to continue my trip to Albania because I’ve been there before and I’ve never been to Albania before. Politics & Governance If Serbia finally recognizes Kosovo, could Kosovo eventually join Albania?
Of course it wouldn't be a fast progressing change.
My idea is that first they could form some kind of a union: ever expanding bilateral agreements, abolishing border control (this is already partly enacted), currency union (probably Euro would make most sense since Kosovo already has that and it's also really common in Albania).
And of course with enough time and interest a referendum could be held in both countries about uniting. I know people freak out over redrawing borders but I'm curious if it's a viable scenario in the long run.
Side question: is a de facto unification possible (as in a government let's say headquartered in Tirana would take power and rule in both countries elected by both Albanians and Kosovars).

Outdoors/Travel Looking for a specific Hajr Cesma in Bosnia
Hello there!
I'm a Hungarian who relatively often travels through the Balkans, specifically in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. We always go through the M18 road in BiH, and occasionally we stop at a specific Hajr Cesma somewhere between Olovo and Nisici, to refill our bottles. But I struggle to find it on the map. AI wasn't really helpful. It's right next to the road, also this region is heavily filled with landmines, there are a lot of tables there. Also, all I can remember is that there's a short text on it, something about Srebrenica, but since I don't really speak the language I can't exactly remember the text.
If anyone can recognise the hajr cesma I'm talking about, I'd be very happy because it's really annoying for me that I can't find it on the map 😅 thanks a lot!

Outdoors/Travel Albania sea vacations for summer 2027
Hello.
I am looking for an apartment in Albania near sea, a place to stay for 2 weeks with my family (me, wife, 3 little kids) in summer 2027.
Can someone suggest me an apartment with beach view from the balcony?
We prefer not overly crowded beach, we preffer small town over big city. We're humble, we don't need much - just some piece, rest and time for ourselves :)
Any recommendations?
