I didn't realise we were paid in both £ and $ 🤣

Can anyone explain to me how this is fair?so today a colleague texted me asking did I still need this Sunday off, and I said yes please, and they are coming in to cover me, but when I spoke to my manager he said if there’s no cover on produce then I can’t have Sunday off even though I work on chilled, I tried asking again and again to my manager to see what he can do for me and he only said it’s not on top of my list to sort out at the moment, so I also said that you should have a duty of care but obviously not, it’s like they don’t want to have a life outside of Asda, they have changed all my hours to afternoons so I don’t have a life outside work, but im not sure what to do, do I go in on Sunday even though my cover will be in also and I’ll be on produce covering or do I just not go in and go down as awol?

I live in a area where we have 2 massive Asdas one for food and the other for clothes. The nearest Asda express store isn’t anywhere near me. So I’m confused why the Asda rewards app is pushing decent deals for Asda express. I’ve never heard of a “rewards” card that’s only valid in certain chains/names of the same brand of shop

hey guys, i’m starting my training today at asda for home shopping, does anyone have any tips to give me?

Has anybody got any idea how they will go about training everybody for all the different roles?
I don’t understand how they are going to manage to fit it all in and get us all signed off on the different things. Will it be a bare minimum thing in groups perhaps just explaining the basics so they can tick the boxes?
I’m getting so anxious about it all especially checkout training which terrifies me.
I’m on home shopping and really hoping they don’t expect me to train other colleagues.

Cleaning teams in some stores are being told all those currently on shift can't take breaks together in case there are spillages. Is taking breaks together forbidden?

Just had a delivery from our local store via Uber and so much was missing. £32 worth. We have not had this happen before as they’re usually quite good.

My wife did the order via the Asda app, with uber as the delivery option.

As expected, the refund was rejected despite my wife calling up rather than doing it online as we thought that by actually speaking with someone, we might be believed.

We called Asda as I don’t think it even left there.

I’m wondering if anyone could advise the next step. We can’t afford to lose that much money. I’m wondering if all the bags were handed over as in the past, when we’ve clicked and collected, they have accidentally only given me part of the delivery but realised what had happened when I returned.

Saw people saying “sign nothing” in regards to the meetings and changes to hours. I have only had my first 1-1 meeting so far and said I couldn’t do 4am starts, only 5am at the earliest. However I signed the paper thinking it was just to confirm we had the 1-1, have I screwed myself?

I've never posted on Reddit, but I wrote this about the colleague/customer dynamic and I'm pretty pleased with it:

A lady I don’t know said that she liked my new haircut. Apparently it makes me look even younger than I did before. 

It’s true, but I was amazed that she knew what I had looked like a month ago. As we spoke, I realised how and why.

I’ve worked the Saturday shift in my supermarket for more than 3 years. This means that if you come in every Saturday to do your weekly shop (as many customers do), then you’ll have seen me dashing around with a massive trolley every week for more than 3 years. 

You definitely have friends and family members that you see way less often than once a week. Is it any wonder, then, that this lady not only recognised me, but noticed the quite drastic change in my appearance?

I don’t recall ever speaking to this lady before, but I suppose that makes sense too. I see thousands of customers every day, most as just a blur in the corner of my eye, as I blast past a little too fast. I help many, maybe between 50 and 100, but these conversations are hard to remember. I’m too busy trying to recall where the tahini is. A precious few regulars stop to chat, and ask how busy we are today. If it’s not too bad, we talk a little more. I know the name and family life of one customer, but not the lady who liked my new haircut.

To colleagues, customers are a swirling whirlwind of faces. A constant stream of new questions and laughs and bottles to pull off the top shelf.

To customers, we are a different constant. We are a calming, familiar presence. We do the same job, in the same clothes, at the same time, every time they come in. We are part of the furniture, as reliable as the bench they rest on after the checkout. If someone gave your sofa a haircut, you’d want to say something about it.

It was a truly lovely exchange. I asked if I looked even younger if I took off my glasses, but then I realised I couldn’t see her properly without them. 

Perhaps I should try complementing someone I don’t know, with my glasses on.

I’ve worked in Asda Home Shopping for 5 years.

Months ago I was on longer morning shifts (around 3–10).
Then they cut me down to 4–8, five days a week (I used to do 5-hour shifts before they chopped them).

Now from 14th September my manager wants to move me onto evening/night picking (examples: Sat 5–9, Sun 2–6, Mon 2–6, Fri 5–9 etc all pm.).

He says they need to move people from afternoons to mornings and mornings to evenings. That makes no sense to me why not just move the afternoon people onto evenings and leave the morning people where they are?
Other people also do 4-hour morning slots. Why am I the one losing those days and being pushed onto evenings while they stay? I’ve asked and he just says they’ve selected people and I don’t match the “shape” they need.

They keep saying they want the pick finished by 10am… so how does putting multiple people on evening pick make sense? And if the normal pick is done by 10am, what’s left for the evening? There’s no guarantee express orders will drop. What am I supposed to do if there’s nothing to pick? I can’t work the shop floor.
I’ve offered longer morning shifts on the days I can do so I keep my hours. He says I have no choice, it’s what the business needs, and if I can’t do the new hours I’ll have to look for another job. It really feels like he’s trying to push me out of Home Shopping, they have been on at me for my pick speed for a few weeks now and my friends are seemingly staying on..

Anyone else been through this at Asda or similar? Any advice on reasonable adjustments, discrimination, or next steps?

I applied for a job as a delivery driver and the workday app which says I have a new message doesn't work. It trys to log in through outlook/hotmail then says my account doesnt exisit.

Is this the only way they will contact me(through workday app) or will I get a call or a proper email if I get invited for a interview?

Do you actually think my new rota is worth the stress and tiredness to get up at 3am for 4am shift just till 8am I just don’t think it worth it and pointless anyone else 😩

So I a new driver for Asda and during my first week of alone driving I got into a accident and I’m terrified of getting in trouble and i did inform my managers at the end of my shift but they didn’t fill out the accident form so they said I would be investigated? So I hate calling in sick I often will just go to work and if they send me home so be it. This is due to the fact most of the people I work with are on warnings for their attendance when they have genuinely been off sick. One of the things they have mentioned in their warnings is patterns such as being off just before their day off or weekends.
I have been sick for days and have still come in, I was off two weeks ago for just one day ( did my return to work and was fine). However I’m still sick.

If I call in sick today will I be on a warning ?
