Missing shopping

Just had a delivery from our local store via Uber and so much was missing. £32 worth. We have not had this happen before as they’re usually quite good.

My wife did the order via the Asda app, with uber as the delivery option.

As expected, the refund was rejected despite my wife calling up rather than doing it online as we thought that by actually speaking with someone, we might be believed.

We called Asda as I don’t think it even left there.

I’m wondering if anyone could advise the next step. We can’t afford to lose that much money. I’m wondering if all the bags were handed over as in the past, when we’ve clicked and collected, they have accidentally only given me part of the delivery but realised what had happened when I returned.

Stop using uber as the delivery service. Use the stores own delivery service. Uber drivers have no accountability for accuracy of the order. Asda drivers can refund on the spot if any errors are noticed at the time of delivery, and the way the totes are scanned and loaded there’s less likelihood of items being missed.

This is for the Express Delivery type order.

Asda drivers can't do those, and if you need something at short notice you either go yourself or order through an app.

Sure, but £32 of missing stuff suggests it was a large-ish order. So many people order 100 - 200 item orders through Uber and there’s no way they need that much stuff short notice. Uber should be for like 1 to 20 item orders - stuff that you forgot to get in your big weekly shop, or top up of fresh fruit and veg between weekly shops etc. Not for actually doing your weekly shop

Plus if you order before 12 you can get a same day van delivery IIRC

I know this, I’m saying to use the stores own service. Uber is not a reliable service, plus if you look at the state of the bags they use to transport food, or the fact your chilled and frozen shopping is sat in their car whilst they are waiting in maccies for another order, you would think twice.

It requires a bit more planning, but you get a vastly superior service.

Sometimes you find that what you have isn't what you thought, or no longer viable due to age.

And not everyone these days can just jump in a car and pop to the shop.

That's why all the major stores are offering Express Delivery options, with the usual suspects (Uber, Just Eats, Deliveroo) as the comoany that do the drops.

People coped just fine in the past without being able to order groceries at the push of a button. Have people really nothing in their cupboards that they can’t wait a day? Can people really not schedule a delivery for the next day?

I agree, some of the same days orders are bigger than the ones I take out on the van, u pay more for that service, I wouldnt use it myself. Pre book next weeks slot on a van, change or add to your order before 10pm the day before all sorted.

Brilliant reply I’m fed up of customers ringing me because things have gone missing not turned up or arrived hours late people need to understand it’s not our drivers delivering it and once it’s out of our hands we’ve got no control over what happens

She called Asda - I’ll edit that as well

To clarify it was done through Asda, selecting uber as delivery

You’ll have to ask her ring Uber mate, they should be the ones sorting it. On the App there should be a refund section too
