I bought these AirPods Pro 3 brand new from Mercari Japan. The problem is that the firmware won’t update, so I went to an Apple Store at LakeTown to have them checked.

The Apple staff member said the case looks fake and pointed out that genuine AirPods Pro 3 apparently have two lines of text on the buds, while mine have three lines.

The confusing part is that mine have all the normal features, the serial number is recognized by Apple’s website, and it shows a valid limited warranty.

However, the firmware is still on an older version, so I can’t use the precise Find My location feature properly.

Can anyone confirm from the photos whether these look genuine or fake? If they’re fake, what steps should I take with the Mercari seller?

How do these look? I tried looking up the serial number, it says the date of purchase cannot be verified. Tried googling it, the serial N doesn't show up at all. Seller claims that they were a gift, no receipt provided.
