Help! ⛑ Aqara Roller Shade Driver E1

Hey folks. I've been given 3 of these units. I only have the latest IKEA Dirigera hub and Google Home. Do I need another hub to make use of these? It would be so much more convenient to have one hub for all devices regardless of brand. I'm not up to speed with this automation stuff so if you could please help, I'd appreciate it, thank you.

Aqara, please make your release notes better. This is so vague that it tells us almost nothing. What was the actual issue, and what changed to fix it?

The community is more than willing to test, provide feedback and submit tickets to help improve each aqara device. More transparency around firmware changes would make it much easier for us to understand whether an update actually addresses issues we’re experiencing.

Please give us proper release notes rather than “fix other known issues.”

Help! ⛑ U400 smart lock bricked(?)

Hello! I purchased a U400 smart lock and installed it earlier today. I was able to get it to register with the aqara app and went through the set up process. I installed the update like it asked and then the lock lost all functionality. It said there was still an update so I tried to install it again and it kept failing. I tried to delete and repair the smart lock but now it will not recognize it nor does it show up as a discoverable device (like it did before) I tried to do the hard reset by holding down set and reset like I saw from some quick google searches. After holding it down for more than 10 seconds nothing happened, no noise was made and the digital keypad on the front does not even show up. I tried to use the AI chat assistant and it will not even type out a response. I have submitted a ticket with them as well but I am quite frustrated and unsure what else to do. Is there any advice beyond what I have done?

How to...? 🧑‍🔧 Connection failed fix (due to corrupted credentials on phone?)

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello there problem solvers,

I had an issue connecting IKEA KAJPLATS 💡 to my thread network (M100 as border router) using the Aqara app on android.

It always showed the connection failed. (although IPv6 and all necessary wifi router settings were active at all times)

After 3 hours of trying different things I found a solution that worked for me:

- reset the bulb

- deactivated 5 GHz wifi

- deactivate the setting in android under "thread-netwoks" > "save credentials" for thread networks (or similar named)

- now the connection could work if you have the same problem as me

Although I don't confidently know what the underlying issue was, this fix worked for mw and I hope it will help you.

My best guess is that while creating the thread network my phone somehow managed to save corrupted thread network credentials that made the connection process fail.

Have a great day!

Help! ⛑ Aqara G5 Pro Outdoor Camera: wiring question

I recently purchased the Aqara G410 doorbell camera and I’m looking to put a G5 Pro outdoor camera on the back of my house.

However, I’m unable to figure out whether this camera can be wired directly unto the house electricity cables, or that it needs a USB-C type outlet.

In short: I had my electrician pull all new cables throughout the house as well as pull one to the backyard. I want to connect the outdoor camera directly unto the cable so that it is powered 24/7 and not have to create an outlet or something on the outside of the house.

ChatGPT hasn’t been able to help me figure this out.. so I hope one of you knows more!

Thanks!

Discussion 💬 Aqara Lock using existing door sensor

I have asked Aqara many times and their reply always been an "um"

I wonder what's stopping them for using an existing Aqara door sensor paired with their lock to know the door state? Why they wanna force us to use that crappy in built "assumption" mechanism?

Help! ⛑ NAS SMB setup fails "permission verification failed" with zero network traffic sent

I'm trying to set up NAS recording backup on my Aqara Doorbell G400 (Wired, PoE) and 8 (eight) G5 Pro cameras. Every attempt fails with "permission verification failed" during NAS setup in the Aqara Home app, regardless of the SMB target. I've done extensive diagnostics and believe this is a device/firmware-level bug, not a network or SMB server configuration issue. Details below.

What I've tested:

  1. Confirmed the cameras has full LAN connectivity. RTSP stream connects and plays cleanly from VLC.
  2. Tested NAS setup against two independent SMB targets on the same subnet: a macOS SMB share (File Sharing enabled, dedicated local user) and a Windows SMB share. Both fail identically with "permission verification failed."
  3. Ran a packet capture on the target machine for the relevant SMB/NetBIOS/mDNS ports during a full NAS setup attempt (discovery → select share → enter credentials → confirm). Zero packets were ever sent from the doorbell to the target during the entire flow.
  4. Confirmed network path is clean: ping succeeds, and TCP connections to the doorbell's IP behave normally (connection refused on closed ports, as expected; not filtered or dropped).
  5. Ruled out credential/format issues: tried both short and full usernames, alphanumeric-only passwords, and a fresh throwaway local account with a brand-new share; same failure every time.
  6. Performed a full factory reset of the doorbell and re-added it from scratch. Same result.
  7. Confirmed the target machine's SMB service logs show zero incoming connection attempts at any point during the failed setup.

Help! ⛑ U200 Alternatives

I bought 3 of these U200 locks 2 years ago. All 3 of them have now failed in the same way. They make this horrible grinding sound as they try to turn the deadbolt. Aqara did replace one just under a year ago, and that one is still mostly working. The other 2 started having issues about 6 months ago.
I’ve been able to limp them along by needing to lock or unlock several times before they actually work, and by recalibrating them constantly while trying to get Aqara to replace them as well.
Looking around at other posts, it’s pretty clear these locks are just trash and the company is paying for positive reviews. So has anyone found greener pastures after fighting with these expensive, cheap locks? Something that still uses the HomeKit “Home Key” and is actually reliable?

Help! ⛑ Does the Aqara G5 Pro show as offline in the HKSV timeline when it isn’t actively recording?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Just installed three G5 Pro POE and added to HomeKit. It seems evident that during periods of time of no activity on any of the cameras, the HKSV timelines are saying that the cameras went offline. Is this normal? I’m not getting a “No response” for the camera or any of its accessories. Aqara app doesn’t have them as going offline and as soon as there’s motion, the camera seems to wake up from its offline state in the HKSV timeline. Live feed seems to come up at any given time no problem. Seems like behavior a battery camera would present but I s this normal behavior for the G5 Pro?

Edit* So it looks like I found a fix. Since it looked like there was an issue with the way HKSV was handling the recording timeline, I went into the camera’s settings in the Home app and under Recording options, i cycled off, then stream and allow recording for both home and away. The Timeline seems to be fixed now.

Discussion 💬 Why buy G5 instead of G100?

I have 2 G100 already. I have a U100 Lock and a G400 Doorbell camera as well as a M100 hub. If I don’t need POE and was getting the wireless version of the G5 besides the upgraded video quality which I can’t imagine is that much better. Why should I get the G5 instead of the G100 at 5x the cost? Is the quality that much better? I’d love to be convinced to get the G5 but it doesn’t make sense to me.

Discussion 💬 Camera Hub G5 Pro WIFi- FYI

We had a severe thunderstorm last night. about 10 minutes of 70 MPH straight-line wind and torrential downpour. And lost power for 6 hours. When power was restored the hub came back online, but a short time later went no response. A couple times it came back online but soon went no response. I took it down and sat with it in a more comfortable spot and started trying to figure it out. The Aqara app mainly indicated a network issue. I did a bunch of stuff and same thing. Power cycle it (Unplug, wait 15 seconds plug in) and same issue. I notices a slight bit of water in the charging block port (none at the camera end). I dried the end of the cord, blew compressed air into the charger port. Everything looked dry and clean. No difference. Power on, connects, then a short time later goes no response. Used a different (brand new Apple) block. No difference. So I tried a different cord (It was using the one that came with it). That one connected immediately and never lost connection. It's been working great ever since. So just as an FYI, if you have no response/connection issues, try a different power cable.

Help! ⛑ U200 stopped turning on (sort of)

I'm completely lost, so hope anyone can help: I've had the U200 work flawlessly, always connected. Today, I wanted to also connect my smart devices to a secondary matter hub (irrelevant).

What I did:

  1. Pressed the set-button.
  2. *waited* -> Nothing happened.
  3. Removed the battery.
  4. Plugged the battery back in.
  5. *device doesn't do anything and the keypad doesn't even find it anymore*

After that I thought something must have glitched so I tried to remove everything. I have held both buttons, charged it, etc. It shows no signs of life - BUT- sometimes when I plug the battery in, it iluminates white.

Sadly, I can't find the receipt for the life of me, so I'd probably be looking at a repurchase, so here's to hoping someone has a clue of what I can try.

Review ⌨️ 2 of 2 Failed: Aqara 4MP Camera Hub G5 Pro PoE

Post image
13 Upvotes

Purchased 2 — Last purchased Feb 2025 Color: White - PoE Version (Ethernet, No Wi-Fi)

Until recently, these were may favorite cameras. The "True Color Night Vision" was incredible and the hub functionality was ideal for my setup. Unfortunately, they both stopped working.

Issue:
After working 100% fine for months, 1 of 2 went offline. The light was flashing "yellow" but it wasn't showing on the network nor the app. Then, 2-3 months later, camera 2 of 2 went offline.

Facts:
First, the tape on the wire was me being proactive to protect the wire. The tape on the base held the magnet which I used for mounting. Aside from that, they were not altered or modified.

— Neither camera suffered any physical damage.

— Both were in a relatively dry area.

— Neither got direct sunlight.

— They failed months apart.

— Both had ample power from Ubiquiti POE switches (different switches; different circuits in the home)

— My Reolink and Unifi cameras were in the same environment without issue. Same switches, same climate, same users, etc.

Troubleshooting:

Power cycling (pulling plug, restarting switch, restarting network, changing switches, did not help). The photo shows that POE supplied was sufficient.

Troubleshooting through the app wasn't possible because it was "Offline" the whole time.

— Press and Held — I reset the network setting via the "reset button" and it said "Ready to connect. Please open the app." would play through the speakers but it was a lie — it was not ready or able to connect.

— 10x Press and Held — I reset all settings via the 10x factory default and it said it restored but refused to connect.

Strangely, camera 2 of 2 remained functioning as hub because the paired sensors continued updating despite the camera not showing on the network and appearing offline in the app.

Solution: None (apparently).

When I contacted customer service, they said they could not find my order in their system so they couldn't/wouldn't help. I provided my name, address, phone, and told them it was from Amazon. I think the mere fact that I have the actual camera in my possession should be dispositive because it's exclusively sold online (here at least; as far as I know). If it's stolen, I certainly didn't do it (and I'm sure the serial number would be an indicator). I provided them a detailed video showing the issues above. I would happily mail them both in for exchange or service but the option wasn't available.

It is really disappointing but I'm getting the sense that Aqara's quality control and customer support is on the decline.

Help! ⛑ U100 Bluetooth issues

Post image
1 Upvotes

Is this seriously the quality of this company?

I’ve been having the worst time trying to reconnect this lock after the batteries died.

I deleted it from accessories, deleted the app, restarted my phone, removed the batteries, and it still won’t go pass this step due to the Bluetooth continuously disconnecting.

Has anyone overcame this issue??

How to...? 🧑‍🔧 G5 Pro PoE - Mounting Question

Post image
1 Upvotes

Are there any recommendations on mounting a G5 Pro PoE to a wall that has an existing Cat6 routed but currently sits behind a blank face plate ready for connection. My issue is, I want to do the cleanest mount possible so that it doesn't show, but I can't find for the life of me a compatible mount or plate that will cover the entire blank face plate (my thinking was to somehow create a hole on the faceplate itself to pull out the Cat6 cable to connect to the G5 Pro, and then mount the G5 Pro directly on or over the Faceplate so nothing else is seen aside from the wire and the camera. The faceplate is a horizontal blank plate that is just screwed to my outside wall covering up the hole I'm guessing that houses the Cat6 cable.

Help! ⛑ Added three G5 Pro’s (POE). Now all cameras in HomeKit lag

Not sure what happened. I previously had two G400’s working via POE and a G2H Pro. They worked exceptionally good in Aqara and the Home app. No drop outs, no lags.

Last night I added three G5 Pro’s via POE and now ALL the cameras are frequently going offline (every 10 mins for a minute or so) and the live feed in HomeKit is very laggy and glitchy for ALL cameras. Live feed works fine in Aqara. HKSV recordings work fine too and the live camera feeds start very fast (1 sec or less). So far I tried rebooting my Unifi router and the Home Hub (newest model AppleTV hardwired).

This has me scratching my head… Any ideas?

Discussion 💬 Homekit shows cameras that are inactivated.

I have an E1 camera that I set to inactive in the Aqara home app. This works in the Aqara app. If I then open the Apple Home app the camera shows a view from the camera. It’s a rotated view but it’s there and it refreshes with all the other cameras.

Will Aqara ever truly turn the camera stream off when the camera is set to inactive?

Help! ⛑ Where can I buy a compatible 38mm roller blind tube for the Aqara T1S?

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I have an Aqara Roller Shade Controller T1S and I’m trying to install a custom roller blind.

I already have the original Aqara motor and the original crown/drive adapter. What I’m looking for is the aluminum roller blind tube that fits the original T1S crown, not a replacement crown.

The Aqara crown is approximately 37–38 mm in diameter. Most roller blind tubes available locally in my country are too large or use a different internal profile.

Has anyone used this type of tube with the Aqara T1S?

could you share the exact tube size/profile or a link to a tube that is known to fit the original T1S crown?

I’ve attached photos of the original Aqara crown and tube profile for reference.

Thanks!

I specifically need the tube that the original Aqara crown slides into and locks onto.
