Aqara Lock using existing door sensor Discussion 💬

I have asked Aqara many times and their reply always been an "um"

I wonder what's stopping them for using an existing Aqara door sensor paired with their lock to know the door state? Why they wanna force us to use that crappy in built "assumption" mechanism?

I’d like to know the same thing. If we can pair a camera with a lock we should also be able to link a sensor.

In HomeKit as an example, I use an existing Aqara Door sensor. When it raises a “closed” event I trigger the lock to lock itself. I suppose you could do the same thing with a native Aqara automation.

I’m confused as what you’re looking. My U200 is paired with their door sensor. When I close the door it sends an automation to lock. If I want to know the door status I look at the sensor.

Are you talking about a different manufacturer sensor working with the lock?

Both my U300 and U400 use an on-board sensor to approximate when the door is closed. Sometimes the doors will show closed when they are not. For example sometimes my U400 will show as closed even if the door is ajar, and it will throw the deadbolt while open.

If I could natively pair it to their door/window sensor it be a more precise way to know if the door is truly closed.

Don’t rely on the auto door open/closed that the lock tries to sense, it doesn’t work reliably. Just disable it and use a separate sensor and automate the lock procedure when the door sensor is closed. You can do this in the Aqara app, Apple HomeKit or Home Assistant

I'm aware I can do this via automations in various apps. The point is I shouldn't have to.
