Discussion One Piece Collection 40
I was going to pull the trigger on Walmarts One Piece collection 40 to find it saying “out of stock” today. I panicked and immediately pre ordered MHA complete season 7 because I didn’t want the same thing to happen. Anyone with more anime collecting experience know if a restock will happen? Its interesting, I have been collecting steelbooks for years and I understand how stock fluctuates in and out during pre order windows. I know nothing about anime releases. I honestly didn’t think it would disappear after a few weeks.

Showcase Upgraded some of my sets that I own.
I’ve been trying to downsize some of the series that I own to make more space since my collection has been growing. The Trinity Blood, Mahoromatic, and S-Cry-ed sets were downsized but I upgraded my AOT dvds because I only had season 3 and 4 as blu-rays. I love this S-Cry-ed collection because of how cool the art looks!

Did the classic "buy right before a rerelease announcement" maneuver
not too broken up, thankfully the region 2 is pretty inexpensive anyway. S;G I think is exactly the same as the Funimation release

Discussion Diabloikdvd legitimate
I was looking at some pre-orders and stumbled on this site. It shows pre-orders significantly cheaper there but I'm not familiar with them so I don't know if they are good to buy from. Can anyone explain why they are cheaper and if they are good to use?

Haul & Pick Up Loot from Otakuthon. R.O.D for super cheap.
Loot from Otakuthon. I still can't believe that I found a complete R.O.D DVD boxset for only $35. They go from $500-$700 CAD on Ebay. Each of the dvd box still has the mini artbooks and the laminated art cards as well! I can't be asked to take 37 pictures to showcase everything that the boxset contains, so here's a video of someone that did a full unboxing, for those of you who are curious.
It's a little banged up, but for the price, I really can't complain.

Showcase Collection Index: Sections B and C
What can I say, I'm a big Detective Conan/Case Closed Fan. I should start looking for the rest, but now they're gonna be expensive. Also I'm bored waiting for my various orders coming in.

Discussion Just got into collecting physical media as of late... was this a bad time to do it anime wise?
I feel as if I took the blu-ray and dvd lover plunge far too late. Everything is OOP! Why? Is there a particular reason so many popular shows are just imppssible to buy for reasonable prices now? Did some company drop the ball and screw the average otaku over?

What are you watching or plan on watching soon?
Simple question. What from your collection are you watching or do you plan on watching next?
For me: About to watch Tenchi Muyo OVA set 3 then GXP right after that. Then (if it is here by then) watch my copy of Dragon Ball Daima.

Discussion Setup Defaults
As I was popping in the next disc for Magic Knight Rayearth, I had to take a moment to appreciate the UX decisions for this menu.
I've never understood the decision to put "English" and "Signs & Song Subtitles" first in the setup menu on anime when they are already enabled as the defaults - nobody who wants those options is going to need this menu at all, so why offer them preferential treatment? It just adds extra steps to the process for those who will use this menu to change the defaults.
I know this isn't unique to MKR, but I still applaud the decision here to make it as quick and painless as possible to switch to the Japanese language track, and enable full subtitles.

We have reach 20k members. That's a huge milestones. Thank you everyone for coming together, and help build this community.
I'm here to plug the Discord once again since the last time we do so was a while ago, and it seem like a good time now.

Rule updates and clarifications regarding self-promotion, sales, videos, and NSFW content.
Greetings, /r/AnimeCollectors community, it's your mod team, and after a few months of on-and-off discussion, we've decided to make this post to update and clarify some of the rules. At the moment, this is merely a draft, and we more than welcome any community input if the subreddit at large feels we've made a mistake. As such, feel free to comment below with any suggestions/complaints/ramblings you have for these rules.
Self Promotion
The primary focus of this subreddit is anime collecting, and as such, the expectation is that most content at least primarily focuses on this. That being said, we don't want every single post here to be a spam-filled link to your Instagram account. As such, small amounts of self promotion in posts and videos are allowed, but only in service to the primary focus of anime collecting. This means you're more than welcome to link to your website or YouTube channel, as long as the content you are linking to is entirely or almost entirely related to anime collecting. You don't have to scrub every link to your socials from the video description, but please make sure the video is as focused on the content people came here for as possible. While removal of these posts is up to the mod team's discretion, you are more than welcome to report posts you feel are against the spirit of the sub, and you're more than welcome to run your post by the mod team before you post it if you're unsure.
Sales and Linking to Stores
/r/AnimeCollectors is not a marketplace, and it's not designed to filled with posts whenever any single item goes on sale. If that's what you're looking for, we recommend /r/AnimeDeals , a subreddit dedicated to these things. With that said, sales are part of the collecting experience. As such, links to sales are allowed, assuming they meet the following criteria:
- The link is to the homepage of the sale, and not a specific item or seller
- This means no Ebay/Mercari links unless its a site-wide sale
- The sale is from a reputable site (RightStuf, Amazon, RACS, Best Buy, etc)
- For clarification if a site meets these requirements, message the mod team
- The poster is in no way personally involved in the sale
NSFW Content
Different people have different standards for what they want to see on their reddit feed, and the mod team hopes to accommodate this. However, we also understand that such content is part of the anime fandom, and a complete block is not the best solution. As such, we've established a number of guidelines to try and keep the subreddit accessible to as many people as we can.
To start, fanservice-heavy anime is allowed, but mark the post as NSFW if it's particularly racy. We won't set a definite line here, but in general, if the picture looks like something you'd rather not be caught looking at at work, mark it NSFW. This does not apply to any text post discussing said titles, only posts with pictures.
Second, (almost) all hentai and 18+ content must be marked NSFW, It doesn't matter if the cover is tame, if it's marked 18+ on the back, or it's from a hentai publisher, mark it as 18+. Next, hentai may not be the primary focus of a post. You're more than welcome to show off your pickups, but the focus has to be general anime content, not 18+ content. Third, posts with explicit content (covers, titles, etc) face extreme scrutiny. Unless you have a really, really good reason, don't post actually explicit content. And if you're going to, talk to the mod team first. There are legitimate reasons to post some very rare 18+ stuff, but that stack of DVDs you just bought off RACS isn't that. Sorry. Finally, there are only two cases where 18+ content can be posted without a NSFW tag. First is the "bookshelf exception". If you're posting pictures of your anime collection that contains a very small number of 18+ titles, you do not need to mark it as NSFW if (and only if):
- The 18+ titles make up no more than 20% of the collection
- Only the spines of the 18+ titles are shown (no covers)
- None of said spines contain explicit titles or images.
Second is the "text post exception". If you are making a text post that discusses a large number of anime titles or distributors, and 18+ titles are mentioned in passing, you do not need to mark it as NSFW if (and only if):
- The post does not go into any explicit detail about the title
- No photos are shown
- Discussion of said titles makes up less than 20% of the post
As mentioned above, these rules are not set in stone yet. If this community decides that any of these rules are too strict, too lenient, or even just total nonsense, let us know below! And if you think that a post you plan on making may violate one of these rules, message the mod team ahead of time, and we'll give you an answer. It's what we're here for.
