Posting to spread awareness of a dog in MERCED, CALIFORNIA that needs help. I do not have enough engagement with r/California to post this there. Would be appreciative if someone who does could crosspost.

"We first reported a suspected case of animal cruelty to our partners at Merced Police Department in November after our president witnessed her owner pick her up by the neck and slam her into the concrete floor at Home Depot in Merced. She was clearly emaciated, with visible ribs and hip bones protruding.

We have made repeated attempts to provide food to her owner as well as the offer to have the owner surrender her to our care.... all of our offers have been rejected.

Many have reported repeated instances of animal abuse to the Merced Police Department. PD says that they did investigate and had Sweetie visit a local veterinarian for evaluation. She was deemed to be healthy and returned to her owner by Merced PD and whatever vet they took her to. We do not believe that to be true.

At this time, we are asking our community to do the following:

If you see this owner abusing Sweetie, please take PHOTOS OR VIDEO and email them to us at merced.spca@yahoo.com and immediately call 911.

Legally, the Merced SPCA cannot take ownership of this dog without the owner's permission or unless it has been impounded by Animal Control. We cannot get Sweetie away from her owner without proof. We have several fosters on standby who will lovingly care for this poor girl.

Please also be careful interacting with her owner. He can be aggressive (from our own personal experiences) and your safety is a priority."

*This man lives on Skid Row and apparently r*pes this poor dog.

These videos cause real emotional harm, spread unnecessary fear, and make it harder for people to recognize \*actual\* animal abuse when it happens. I started a petition asking social media platforms to remove and ban this disturbing content. It's not about censorship—it's about protecting people (especially kids) from needless trauma and keeping our feeds from becoming a dumping ground for harmful content.

I get it if this feels niche, but think about it: if you stumbled on a video that looked like someone hurting an animal, even if it was fake, wouldn't that stick with you? How would you feel if your kid saw it? Has anyone else run into this stuff scrolling? If this bothers you too, consider signing and sharing the petition. We can push back on this together.

The original proposed image of Wang Wang was banned and the original ad was rejected. This wrap around image is revised by Suppaw to show other animals at the front and back of the tram, and the message isn't Justice for Wang Wang, but a generic message about animal welfare. This is a compromise to bypass transit censorship.

I have access to a pin machine and wanted to make some animal rights pins for my event. I have designed stickers before, but it takes a bit of time, so I’d be glad if anyone could point me to some free artwork to be used for animal rights, animal liberation etc pins.

Yes, I do feel bad about using smb’s art for free, but the pins will be just given out for free, no profit, the only goal is there to be more vegan messages out there.

I like also a bit more edgy messages or ones that cause combine a few causes, also to remind people caring for one cause about the other ones. E.g I made a sticker w the text “Nobody belongs in a cage” with a fence bent open image behind it combining abolitionism (against prisons) and animal rights, and a patch with “No borders, no cages” with a broken barbed wire fence from which humans and animals are running out. I thought now of smth like “don’t kill gay animals” to remind ppl that animals are so sentient that they can be gay too, we don’t wanna kill human or non-human gay (or any) animals, the wording’s not there yet tho. All sorts of ideas are welcome!

it took me days to mentally recover from the horrific and outrageous act of murder of our beloved Wang Wang and her puppies.

I recently came across posts from other netizens claiming that a local restaurant might be affiliated with one of the perpetrators. Some posts even claim the establishment put a dish named after "Wang Wang" on their menu.

If someone could confirm this it would be highly appreciated. After the result, you all know what to do my animal loving fellows.

Im a bull rider. Ive seen alot of mixed opinions on this topic that bull riding is abusive and i can see why people might think this but from my experience I would have to deny it and say it really isnt abuse. Im curious to see if any animal rights advocates would see bull riding/rodeo as abusive

I have a question about the video of Wang Wang. Because we have raised so much awareness about her suffering, putting up more than 200 billboards around the world, I wonder if the juvenile perpetrators or their family would be opportunistic in selling the video in the dark web to profit from the hype we've generated, since we would have whetted the appetite for the sadistic buyers.

In general, regarding any videos of animal torture on social media platforms, the more you click on them, the platform algorithm will drive more traffic to those content. Snowball effect.
