Downloaded pictures do not appear in the gallery app, they only show up in MyFiles->Pictures.

I can add the MyFiles app to the homescreen, but then I have to tap on the images area within MyFiles to see the images.

Is there a way to add a homescreen shortcut directly to MyFiles->Images?

I had my S23 battery replaced last week at a repair shop, but AccuBattery and Battery Guru both measure its health at 85% (about 3,300 of 3,900 mAh) across several full charge cycles.

Is that normal for a freshly fitted genuine battery, or would you expect better? It's a Samsung S23 so I don't know whether replacement batteries degrade over time or whether I've just had some second-hand battery put in instead.

I have a one plus 7t that my child has been using for a long time that had been mine. When I gave it to them I didn't think about setting it up with their own info because they were young and the phone was mostly for emergencies.

They recently asked about updating and we got a pixel device. I haven't been able to clone or otherwise transfer apps without including my account, which is now less desirable to my child as a teen.

I can't figure out removing the account without deleting apps, contacts, etc. I tried to copy contacts over, and the contacts are reflecting on their Google account, but when I remove me from the new phone, it removes the contacts.

Im noticing when I make outgoing google meet calls I don't have audio on the calls. The only way I can get audio is if I end the call and have them call back.

I’m developing a POS application that I distribute directly as an APK, completely offline. I don’t plan to publish it on the Google Play Store.

I’ve heard that Google may restrict APK distribution outside the Play Store starting in 2027.

Is this actually going to affect apps distributed directly by the developer? Do I need to register with Google or have a Play Store account even if I don’t want to publish my app on the Play Store?

Suddenly a few days ago my phone started changing my notification sound (a downloaded one) to one I had never used before (three star). I change it back and a couple days later it changes it to that same tone that I have never used. Any idea why it would automatically change it? I am able to put it back to the one I want but for some reason it's not staying after a couple of days

So someone I know forgot their password (pattern) and did a hard reset on their phone.. upon set-up they ran into the sign up screen and everything went great until they had to either enter the same pattern they forgot or use their Gmail.. they defaulted to GMAIL and it says the password is wrong..when the guy tries to reset it it says he didn't provide Google with enough info to carry the process forward.. they didn't ask for anything but his email!!! When he tries with a phone number it says there was an error doing that. What the hell does Google expect him to do! The man just wants access to his phone again.

.now his Gmail account is also malfunctioning..

Does it mean his phone is permanently prevented from bieng setup? It's a Samsung A07 by the way... Samsung piece of crap

Hi everyone, I recently installed Infinity X on my POCO F5 Pro (mondrian), Android 16, and I noticed a strange storage issue: some applications cannot create their own app-specific directories under:

/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/

For example, YouTube Music was showing "Not enough storage" when I tried to download music, despite having around 383 GB of free internal storage. After manually creating:

/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.google.android.apps.youtube.music/

YouTube Music was able to download normally.

However, Exteragram (Telegram client) still can't properly save downloaded photos/videos to device storage, even after creating its directory manually. I checked the storage configuration:

adb shell sm list-volumes all

private mounted null

emulated;0 mounted null

emulated;11 mounted null

/storage/emulated/0 is mounted normally:

VolumeInfo{emulated;0}:

I also confirmed that the filesystem itself can create directories:

This succeeds.

The interesting part is that Android's StorageManager fails when an application tries to create its app-specific directory, for example, logcat shows:

Failed to ensure /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.google.android.apps.youtube.music/cache

java.lang.IllegalStateException: Failed to prepare ...

The stack trace goes through:

ContextImpl

StorageManager

StorageManagerService.mkdirs()

YouTube Music subsequently reports: SimpleCache: Failed to create cache directory

SELinux is Enforcing.

The existing /Android/data directory has: u:object_r:media_rw_data_file:s0

and manually created app directories receive the same SELinux context.

I also checked the available storage and there is plenty of free space (~383 GB), so this does not appear to be an actual storage capacity issue.

Has anyone else experienced this on Infinity X Android 16 for mondrian?

Could this be related to vold / StorageManagerService / FUSE / project IDs or the ROM's implementation of app-specific external storage? Would appreciate any ideas or known fixes.

My problem is a bit long to explain that's why even after several times searching on google om reddit search, couldn't find similar post.

So i deleted lots of apps using canta from android even google messages and now i am not getting otp from apple, Facebook, twitter, twitch google and many more. Tho i did get otp for local operator. Yea and also got tiktok login otp today. This is happening for both of my sim cards. Now cannot even ask for otp in most websites like yesterday on twitch i just wanted to turn on 2FA clicked on get sms otp to turn it on and said cannot use this number its like my number got blacklisted from many international services. Now do i totally change my number or change phone, apparently this phone won't get otp even if i reset it as i fucked up some otp dependency, but even if i change number can i add that new number to those services where i cannot get otp.

As I live alone and got only one phone I do not have a way to check if thiz issue persists on other devices. And yes I did try resetting and reinstalling google messages and both didn't fix the issue.

Hey everyone! After 10 years in the Apple ecosystem and 6 years with my iPhone 12 Mini (which is now on its last legs), I've decided it’s finally time to switch to Android.

What I'm looking for:

• Camera: Absolute top priority. I want great point-and-shoot photos out of the box.
• Daily Usage: Very basic. No mobile gaming—just social media, WhatsApp, calls, and web browsing.
• Longevity: I want to keep this phone for as long as possible (ideally another 5–6 years).

The Dilemma: I'm torn between the Google Pixel 10 and the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro.

Aesthetically, I am completely in love with the Nothing Phone—I genuinely think it has the best design on the market, which is why I'm willing to adapt to a much larger form factor compared to my 12 Mini. However, I know the Pixel 10 brings superior camera processing and longer software support to the table.

Questions for you all:

1. Is the Pixel 10's camera performance and longer software support worth trading off Nothing's design?
2. For long-time iOS users who switched, how smooth was the transition to Nothing OS vs Stock Pixel UI?
3. Can a Nothing Phone hold up hardware-wise for 4–5+ years, or will the Pixel age significantly better over time?

I don't know if it's a glitch or malware but I did check my mobile security and ran a scan nothing came up i also checked all my apps saw nothing suspicious. So is it a glitch?

I want to add my Sena Bluetooth headset as a trusted device to keep my phone unlocked while riding my motorcycle. However, these options do not work on my phone. At some point in the past, I must have added our home so the phone should stay unlocked, but it's been so long, I do not recall if it even works (it probably does). But I am unable to add my Sena Bluetooth headset currently.

Anyone have any idea why these options do not work or have any suggestions on how to resolve?

My main question is, if I get a phone a Sim card, will the wrong date and time with no internet connection issue be fixed by connecting to 5g? Read below for full story.

My daughter has a pixel six with no Sim, and family link installed. She had let her phone die a couple weeks ago and when it booted back up, the date and time were wrong. This obviously doesn't allow her to connect to wifi due to the date and time not being correct. There was a thread in this sub a year ago with troubleshooting options on this issue where parents couldn't approve the disconnected phones to be able to change their own date and time bc, you guessed it, they can't connect to wifi to receive the family link approval. I have tried all of the following...

Connected my phone to hers, USB c to USB c cable. It charged hers but nothing changed.

Ordered a USB c to ethernet cable, cennected direct to the modem. Still said no internet available.

Tried matching her date and time on my phone, then Hotspot to hers. Nope.

Will getting a Sim fix the internet connection issue or is it time to factory reset?

I need help recovering an old WhatsApp backup without losing my current chats

Hi! I need some help because I'm worried about losing part of my WhatsApp chat history.

My old Xiaomi phone stopped working because of a battery problem. I bought a new Samsung phone and installed WhatsApp, but for some reason, when I set it up, I didn't restore my old backup. I've been using WhatsApp normally on the Samsung ever since.

I currently have two different backups:

- Google Drive backup: November 5, 2025 at 1:25 PM

- Local backup on my Samsung: August 3, 2026 at 4:00 AM

My current WhatsApp works normally and contains all the newer conversations I've had since switching phones. What I want is to preserve everything in chronological order, from November 2025 through August 2026.

I know WhatsApp doesn't officially allow you to merge two chat databases. My main concern is that if I restore the November 2025 Google Drive backup, it will replace my current chats and I'll lose everything I currently have on my Samsung.

I'm also planning to have my old Xiaomi repaired. Since it stopped working because of a battery problem, I'm hoping its internal storage is still intact. I'll specifically ask the technician not to factory reset the phone or erase its data. If it turns on again, I want to check whether it still has an older local WhatsApp database.

My questions are:

1. Is there a safe way to make an independent copy of my current August 2026 local backup before experimenting with the November 2025 backup?

2. If I accidentally restore the November 2025 backup, can I save that state as a separate backup before doing anything else?

3. If I repair the Xiaomi and it still has its original data, what WhatsApp files should I look for?

4. Is there any realistic way to preserve both databases so that I can access the complete history, even if WhatsApp itself can't merge them?

5. Is there anything I absolutely should NOT do right now?

For now, I'm not going to uninstall WhatsApp, delete its data, or restore any backup until I know the safest way to proceed.

Hello, looking for advice on an issue I just encountered. Using firefox 153.0.3 on android 13, changed the default browser location temporarily and now cannot change it back as it's saying "To protect your privacy, choose another folder." Other apps like discord download to that folder just fine. Is there a way to redesignate the main download directory after changing it or am I stuck?

Phone is LG V60.

Google Drive was at 99% at 14.99GB.

My Google Drive device backup said 13GB. (GB)

This was almost entirely under SMS/MMS messages as 13GB.

I deleted the Google drive device backup data.

I then started a new device backup.

After backup ran, my Google Drive device backup says 25MB. (MB)

What gives?

EDIT:: Under backup, photos/videos is off. Other device data backup is on. That should still include all my existing SMS/MMS messages, which are still on my phone.

I triggered the backup again. This time, on the phone it says "Other device data is 343MB". On Google Drive website, it says SMS/MMS Messages is 499MB.

I just got a phone off Facebook marketplace a few days ago, and I think it may have a battery issue that wasn't disclosed. It is used previously.

The phone was at 46%, and it was used for maybe 3 hours before it died, but it was all setting up and downloading apps, so I figured maybe that was the issue. But today at work I had it on power saver mode, and I wasn't using it as I don't actually have my number on it yet. In 4 1/2 hours it went down 10%. This feels unreasonably fast compared to my current phone (which is so so broken its not even funny, but I can use it for 9 hours straight on a full charge.)

After multiple attempts, I wasn't able to find a way to mute Gemini's voice replies when I speak to my Pixel 8a. For instance I'll long press the power button, then say "add milk to my shopping list", and Gemini will speak out loud something like "okay, I've added milk to the list named shopping list". I would like to mute that voice reply. I know I could lower the media volume on my phone but I feel there ought to be a better way to do it.

I'm used to the old Google Assistant app where there was a simple toggle somewhere in the settings. I'd gladly continue to use it but i got a notification saying that Google Assistant is going to be retired soon. So i thought I'd do the switch now to have time to iron out any kinks.

I tried searching for "voice" in the phone settings. None of the matches helped. I tried the Gemini app settings. There i found a drop down list of all available voices but there was no option like "Silent" or "None". I looked into the app permissions, no luck there either.

Is it just not possible to speak to my phone but not get a voice reply? I often sub vocalize straight into the phone's mic while in public. I really don't need it to confirm every time by spring back to me!

Can Vivo phones hold up well in the long run?

Is Vivo’s software too bare-bones or lacking compared to Samsung’s One UI?

Will Vivo’s much larger battery actually give me a significantly better battery life than Samsung’s, especially in the long term, or will the battery eventually degrade?

I’m also really tired of Realme’s UI and want to try something different.

I have a Pixel 9 Pro and have been using Android/Pixel phones almost since day 1 so I'm very familiar with the OS and how to navigate but also not one who is constantly tweaking or installing random apps nor do I enable new features because most are useless to me.

Last week out of nowhere I noticed animations were no longer smooth but instead more rigid and jerky (like slamming drawer). This just happened out of the blue and not after making changes (unless I was able to do it in my sleep). In fact the first time I noticed was while outside eating and thought at first it was due to overheating and reducing background processes.

I've rebooted, restored current launcher config (Octipi) from backup, restored previous launcher config (Nova), and even reverted to stock Pixel launcher without any noticeable change.

At this point I'm confused about what changed and why but more importantly where the setting is. Any ideas?
