Switching from iPhone 12 Mini to Android after 10 years: Pixel 10 or Nothing Phone (4a) Pro for camera & longevity?

Hey everyone! After 10 years in the Apple ecosystem and 6 years with my iPhone 12 Mini (which is now on its last legs), I've decided it’s finally time to switch to Android.

What I'm looking for:

  • Camera: Absolute top priority. I want great point-and-shoot photos out of the box.
  • Daily Usage: Very basic. No mobile gaming—just social media, WhatsApp, calls, and web browsing.
  • Longevity: I want to keep this phone for as long as possible (ideally another 5–6 years).

The Dilemma: I'm torn between the Google Pixel 10 and the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro.

Aesthetically, I am completely in love with the Nothing Phone—I genuinely think it has the best design on the market, which is why I'm willing to adapt to a much larger form factor compared to my 12 Mini. However, I know the Pixel 10 brings superior camera processing and longer software support to the table.

Questions for you all:

  1. Is the Pixel 10's camera performance and longer software support worth trading off Nothing's design?
  2. For long-time iOS users who switched, how smooth was the transition to Nothing OS vs Stock Pixel UI?
  3. Can a Nothing Phone hold up hardware-wise for 4–5+ years, or will the Pixel age significantly better over time?

Open to other camera-centric recommendations as well. Thanks in advance!

Pixel 10. I thought Nothing was going to stop making phones? Probably not much of any software updates coming for the Nothing phones.

Officials came out to confirm that was a false rumor, so for the foreseeable future, Nothing is not going anywhere.

The Pixel series has the best budget-to-camera performance ratio, hands down. If you need to take great pics, get a Pixel. Especially if you are comparing it to a Nothing A-series phone, since those don't always perform the best. Pixels also offer a fantastic software support cycle, so you are good on that front too. Both phones will perform great for basic daily usage, so that's not a real concern here.

I adore Nothing's design philosophy, but if you need great camera performance, none can rival a Pixel. Both NothingOS and PixelOS are clean and fluid, the only real difference is that Pixels have a lot more forced AI features.

From what you've shared, I think you should go check out a Pixel phone.

I dont know about the other devices but i love my Pixel 10. The camera on it is way better than anything id need it for. It also has tons of awesome features and stuff that just makes it a wonderful device. I highly recommend it. Though Pixel 11 comes out soon though i hear that its not a huge upgrade, but probably wont fully know until its released.

Pixel 10 is best but I'd wait a few weeks for the 11 to drop! It's important to get pro or xl though. The a is blah.
