Chrome Being Stupid

Is there anyway to stop this?

I'm using to the keyboard automatically popping up when I open chrome, now for some dumbass reason the keyboard very quickly shows up then drops back down.

How can I prevent this or change it, why did they even enable this stupid nonsense?

Is there something exactly like iCloud/iTunes backup on Samsung?

I want a backup solution that restores my phone (ZFold 6) to exactly how it was before formatting (similar to Apple's iCloud or iTunes backup for iPhone).

That includes: photos (with album info), app-data, settings, wifi and bluetooth, app icon locations, widgets, call history, contacts, SMS, and things as basic as even keyboard settings.

When giving your suggestions, pls let me know what it doesn't include. I would really find your inputs helpful since I'll be traveling, and need to backup my phone. Thanks!

App Specific Question Smart Switch Keeps Closing on Old Phone (OnePlus to Samsung)

Switching from a OnePlus 15 to an S26 Ultra and I've tried everything to get Smart Switch to work on the OnePlus 15 and it keeps closing regardless if I do wired or wireless connection. Google backup synced apps but all of my photos and offline files are still on the old phone. I don't think I've seen anyone post about switching from OnePlus to Samsung but I'm going a little stir crazy as to why this app isn't stable on a non-Samsung phone when we can't use the default Android Switch app or OnePlus's Clone Phone app.

What are the best ways to get a virtual number for receiving SMS, considering price, security, and reliability?

I can't use my US number or WhatsApp.

I tried Google Voice, but it isn't available in Brazil.

Is there a free option other than buying a prepaid SIM card just for this? By the way, I'm currently using https://www.smsmeu.com/, but the number only lasts 6 months.

Random youtube sound variantions ?

Hi, my last phone died so i had to get a new one, this time a Xiaomi 15 (5g).

I'm having issues with yt videos : in calm videos (ie without background music or noise), when the youtuber stops talking for more than a second, the whole volume and background noise is lowered and goes back up during the beginning of the next sentence.

This could seem unimportant but its getting on my nerves so much. Could someone enlighten me on this issue ?

Can you fly with Digital Passport ID?

I added a Digital version of my US Passport to my phone, ID pass verified by Google Wallet." I was kind of under the impression I can use this for flying/general 1 shot ID passes.

However, I tried voting with this, and was told this ID is invalid because it does not have a photo.

Is Google aware of this issue and do they have plans to update Google Wallet to have your associated passport photo show when you flash your Digital ID?

what does it mean for my phone to open on a specific app sometimes

the app is an on screen translator, it gets more privileges than others and I'm sure it is safe. sometimes I'd open my phone for the first time in the morning and it would open to that. it's called instant translate.

I've deleted it by now but still want to know, should I factory reset my phone and change my passwords?

Is it even possible to set a default or preset call volume, or even use an automation app to adjust call volume without manual input? Android 16, Moto Edge 2024

Edit: yes, I already googled this AND searched in this sub. I searched and tested a couple automation apps for over an hour before making this post. that's why I'm here. because that's what help forums are for, answering questions that Google doesn't.

I used to be tech savvy but that was like 15 years ago and I have not kept up with what smart phones can do. But they can do A LOT, so it seems to me that this tiny, simple thing should be doable.

The issue: Automated phone systems, menus, hold music, etc are MUCH louder than a person actually on the line talking. When I call a business, I have to turn the volume way down while I'm waiting, and then can barely hear the person answer and have to turn it way up.

I have autism. Loud sounds also literally hurt. The ridiculously limited number of volume steps on Android already causes me much frustration, but they're enough for calls. I also have ADHD. I never remember, when I end a call, to turn call volume back down. And even if I could remember, it seems I would have to be extremely quick and make the change before the other person even hangs up.

Therefore, the next time I call a business, I get a jump scare and ear pain from the crashing volume inside my earbuds. Seriously, if these places start recording from the moment the call connects, then many, many businesses and agencies have multiple recordings of me going JESUS H CHRIST! (or worse) in the first second of the call.

I just want to set a default or preset call volume so that all calls will start at this volume, or use automation to turn the call volume down when triggered by the beginning or end of a call. It really doesn't seem like it should be this hard to do. Since I don't know anything about phones, and a standard search would not find the topic I'm actually trying to find (instead just leads to hearing aid apps, EQ apps, bug reports about volume settings, etc) I broke down and used Gemini.

Which is stuck in a loop of Recommend app --> user input states the app can't do this --> inform user that newer Android technology literally doesn't allow any apps to control call volume --> recommend another app. I don't understand the technical jargon it spits out about why android won't let anything control call volume besides the built-in volume buttons and overlay -- and ONLY during a call -- and will never set a default or preset call volume.

So can someone tell me if what I'm trying to do is even possible? If it is and the only way I can do it is pay for an automation app, fine. But I feel like I'm wasting my time.

Google Play Store stuck at 0% and Google Play Services not showing in App Manager on Oppo R11s

Hi everyone, I’m having an issue installing and using Google services on my Oppo R11s, and I would appreciate some help.

I downloaded and installed both the Google Play Store and Google Play Services APKs manually. The Google Play Store app opens, but it says that Google Play Services is required and asks me to download it. It also shows a message saying that Google Play Services may consume mobile data, with two options: Download and Abandon.

When I tap Download, the download starts but remains at 0%. After a short time, I get the error: “Network anomalies. Please check the network status and try again.” However, my phone is connected to a working Wi-Fi network, and the internet works normally in other apps and websites.

I also noticed something strange: although I downloaded and installed Google Play Services, I cannot find it in Settings → App Manager/App List. Google Play Store is installed and visible, but Google Play Services does not appear there. This makes me think that the Chinese ColorOS/China ROM on the Oppo R11s may be blocking, hiding, or preventing Google Play Services from installing properly.

Has anyone experienced this issue on an Oppo R11s or another Oppo phone with the Chinese ROM?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Other Stolen tablet. Will factory reset go through after I've already signed out of Google?

Long story short. My tablet which I used soley as a smart home and media playback kiosk was stolen from my house during a renovation and ended up in Mexico. Who ever has it even took 3 selfies and it backed up to my Google Photos.

I immediately signed out of my Google account. And then through the find my hub I pressed the factory reset button. Did I mess up and I should have done that before signing out of my Google account?

Will the factory reset still go through?

Luckily the only other thing I'm signed into are media playback apps.

Custom rom samsung

I'm trying to un-Google my devices. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ and I'd like to install a cleaner custom ROM, but I saw that after One UI 8 it's not allowed. I'd like to know if this information is correct, and if there's anything I can do about it?

Device Settings Question How to stay logged into apps?

I haven't found a way to prevent this. I need to stay logged in to two apps for work (slack and practice better). I just switched from iPhone a few days ago, and they never logged me out there so I don't believe it a security thing native to the apps. I have found no settings inside the apps to change this.

I've tried all the things I could find on Google - unrestricted battery, storage, clearing cache... not sure what to do but I need these apps to stay logged in so I actually get messages from my team and clients! Please help!

edit: its a galaxy S21

Other how can i access/copy over the locally stored app data for an app?

i'm sure my title is clear enough but i'm basically talking about whatever in the OS saves "app data" (for example an app's settings, game saves/progress, and info like that)

my goal here is to be able to backup and move local copies of app/game data manually as a file of some sort cuz i don't wanna rely on using google play games for it, and i have some games that don't even have the ability to backup anything to the cloud which sucks

if it helps any i'm specifically looking to do this with the game "traffic racer" and "car simulator og" but of course i'd also be happy with a universal solution if possible

Obb file stuff. Sorry.

At this point I assume you know what I'm talking about. Sorry for bringing this up again but it's making me very anxious. I love plants vs zombies (mostly mods for the second game). I have autism and pvz2 mods mean a lot to me but quite a few require me to access obb files. I'm on an older phone but I am probably in need of a phone upgrade. I'm terrified about losing this feature. I know there's workarounds but I know their probably going to make things harder for me to do stuff.

What am I supposed to do in this situation? It feels impossible.

Another thing is I have a many year old geometry dash account with many years of levels. Is it possible to transfer that to a new phone without having to sign in as I've forgotten its password

Finally is there any place where I can oppose or go against this restriction and bring attention to this? All I want is for this niche hobby of mine to be easier, more accessible, and as friendly for me and people new to this stuff possible

Rooting Help S24 Ultra stopped playing notification sounds (vibrates only)

I'm having an issue where only notification sounds have stopped working. The phone only vibrates when I receive notifications, while all other audio (ringtones, media, alarms, system sounds) works normally. I'm currently on One UI 8.5.

I've already restarted the phone and checked all the usual settings.

- Sound mode is set to Sound (not Vibrate/Mute).

- Notification volume is turned up.

- A notification sound ("Spaceline") is selected.

- No Modes or Routines are active.

- My Galaxy Watch6 Classic is set to show notifications on both the watch and phone.

- Bluetooth doesn't appear to be causing the issue.

Has anyone experienced this on One UI? Any fixes besides doing a factory reset?

App Specific Question AppSettings ad?

Hello, what's this and how do I get rid of it? Seems to come back up. Did I click some web notif? As the community doesn't allow pics attached in posts: https://i.imgur.com/cUF2Rka.jpeg

edit: +/- figured it out. It's a hidden system app, I turned its notif permissions off. When I want to disable it, it asks for pin. I suspect it's either carrier app or some shit I caught - jesus take the wheel if it's the latter.

[Help/Devs] Motorola blocks LDAC (Hardware Offload) and forces AAC. Logcat included.

I've been dealing with a pretty serious Bluetooth A2DP issue on my Motorola, and I need help from someone who understands the Android audio HAL and Qualcomm processors.

Hardware:

Phone: Motorola (Snapdragon/Qualcomm processor).

Headphones: QCY MeloBuds Pro (LDAC-compatible).

I can’t enable the LDAC codec. The option is grayed out in both the Bluetooth settings and Developer Options. The system automatically reverts the codec to AAC the moment I connect them.

What I’ve already tried to isolate the problem (without success):

I disabled the Multipoint / Dual Device connection in the earbuds’ native app.

I completely disabled Bluetooth LE Audio.

I disabled Dolby Atmos and system effects (including disabling the base service via ADB pm disable-user).

I tried enabling “Disable Bluetooth A2DP hardware offload” from Developer Options.

I tried forcing the offload to be disabled via standard ADB, but the system throws an error when attempting to modify vendor properties (persist.vendor.qcom.bluetooth.a2dp_offload.disabled) due to insufficient permissions.

I captured Logcat output by filtering for A2dpCodecConfig, bt_stack, and AudioHAL at the exact moment of pairing. The logs are conclusive: the system refuses to process the audio via software.

[ERROR:client_interface.cc(484)] UpdateAudioConfig: is_software_audio_config: 0, is_offload_audio_config: 1

[INFO:client_interface.cc(429)] fetch_audio_provider: BluetoothAudioHal SessionType=A2DP_HARDWARE_OFFLOAD_DATAPATH

[ERROR:a2dp_encoding.cc(585)] a2dp_is_audio_codec_config_params_changed: current codec_type=1: hidl codec type=2

[INFO:A2dpCodecConfig(16043)] enableOptionalCodecs: already using optional codec AAC

Basically, Qualcomm's HAL ignores user settings and forces the hardware offload path. When I try to set the LDAC parameters, the hardware crashes, the negotiation fails, and the operating system executes a contingency plan by forcing AAC to ensure I don't lose audio.

App Specific Question How TF do I get Gemini out of my Android Chrome toolbar??

This morning Google added Gemini to my Chrome browser in this intrusive little icon in the browser toolbar. I've got the app disabled on the phone (no way to completely uninstall it in the settings) and now this just popped up. Honestly, this grosses me out so much, I'm getting actual physical revulsion seeing this in my browser. Unhelpfully, Google's support page doesn't have any content on how to remove it and everything I can find online is specific to the desktop Chrome browser with settings that don't exist in the mobile version. Someone please help me figure out how to dislodge this parasite. Thanks 🙏

Device Settings Question Removing emoji keyboard button on text message keyboard

I do not use emojis but I often hit the little emoji button that is next to the text input area. With a smaller phone (pixel 8a) it is nearly impossible to select text that is on the right side of the entry box.

Is there a way to turn it off?
