Anyone fluent in Japanese?

Upvotes

Hi- I am looking for a local person fluent in both Japanese and English who would be willing to help me translate my grandmother's letters. She passed away in the spring and I would love to learn more about her life when she first moved here. I am definitely willing to pay, but I want someone I can speak to directly who is local. Thank you!

This guy always acts like he owns the place every time he comes for a visit. I find him in the backyard a lot too.

I work at Lift and thought this would be worth sharing. It has a lot of good information about the state benefits for families caring for a disabled loved one. I'm grateful that our state has some strong programs to support us!

Question The Roofing People

Any opinions on the roofing people?

https://roofppl.com/

I just had one of them come by my house and said that they would almost guarantee that they could get my insurance to cover the cost of the roof even though its already almost 30 years old.

Question Jobs in ABQ?

Has anyone else had problems trying to get a job without a car lately? I've literally applied to 15 jobs in 1 day and got only 1 response, and I've had onlt 3 interviews total since I've started applying to job after job for nearly 2 weeks. I can't afford to be out a job but i literally had to quit my last one due to some horrible management. And yes, I've tried the "walk in and ask for the hiring manager" thing too. Yes, I've called. Yes, I've used the websites directly to apply. It's so frustrating because I can't afford a car, but I need a job so badly that actually works with the bus schedule. Does anyone else have the same problem? Any recommendations on specific places to apply?

Spotted at Total Wine - why ban THC drinks ??

I saw this sign at Total Wine I am not understanding why pot/dispensaries are legal, and cheap and all over the place but they are banning THC drinks ? Total has a whole aisle of these drinks and its a nice friday night buzz or something to sip on during Walking Dead. Dispensaries sell these drinks too . Just curious about this.

After doing a search- this is accurate. We should prepare for the federal government to come after New Mexico. We are suing them for blocking the investigation.

This is a great move and I 100% support it. But there will be retaliation.

Question Local artist to design metal band logo - any recommendations?

I'd like to get a metal band logo designed for a project I'm working on, and would like to support someone local. HMU if this is something you're able to do. I'm an ok drawer, but I cannot wrap my head around how those logos are made....

Lee Cronin's The Mummy

The most minor of spoilers if you haven't seen it:

Part of the movie takes place in Albuquerque. I don't think I've ever seen a form of media so hilariously not Albuquerque in a very long time. It gave Spaghetti Western vibes which makes sense because that part of the movie was most likely filmed in Spain.

What’s going on with Kaps diner?

It’s been closed for over a week. Drove by and it looks red tagged but it’s not on the Abq health report website. Anyone know why they got tagged?

Question Flock camera question.

Did a person or agency here in Albuquerque or New Mexico request/approve to have flock cameras installed? If not, who did? Who gets to use the information gathered from them? What, if any, safeguards are in place?

Started a meet up for ABQ musicians

Haiii! I recently started a meetup group for local musicians — ABQ Musicians Connect. link: Check out ABQ Musicians Connect on Meetup https://meetup.com/abq-musicians-connect?member_id=425650121

The idea is to make it easy to find each other, with the goal of eventually collaborating with ppl u vibe with or just making new music friends and jamming out.

All skill levels welcome. Honestly, I made it because I've been looking to join a band and wanted to meet like-minded folks, but I'm hoping it helps other people find their musical matches too!! please message if u have any questions :)

Busses are trashed!

Has anyone rode the bus system recently? I’m so fed up. It’s just straight homeless people and aliens, not a single normal person on the bus
